Giving a certain event a miss...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SEBESTIAN AND YUN

I know there is going to be a Youth Eco event at Scape Park today (hosted by Miss FC)... but unfortunately, I am unable to go for it (due to work and the fact that my dad is coming back). So my sincere apologies in advance if u don't see me there, Fel... I'm still struggling with personal issues. Rest assured I may not be going to RG on Sat night...
Jonathan and Hady will be there to perform, as are Project Superstars Daren and Diya and Campus Superstars Teresa, Renfred and Geraldine (eeeeew, I dont really like her).

For now, Im trying to find a suitable day to watch the Transformers film... I seem to be getting a little attracted to the miniature versions of the Transformers... trying real hard to 'resist the tempttion' to buy a few of them...

Oh ya before I forget, Christopher is now a free man!! But still not sure abt his PR status...

Dedication to all WWE fans

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEANETTE AW, ANNABELLE AND MICHELLE GOH SP

I wasn't too surprised when WWE.com announced that all of Chris Benoit's biodata and photos had been removed from the site due to the complications surrounding the tragedy that fel on Benoit's family... here I will post up the lyrics to Benoit's entrance theme (one of my fave themes) in dedication to all Benoit fans and to all the WWE fans around the world...

WHATEVER- Our Lady Peace

There's no holding me back
I'm not driven by fear, I'm just driven by anger
And you're under attack
I'm just climbing up slowly, I'm the one and only, I...

The tease, the ways you lie, stumble in your mind.
The fear, the hope inside, they hit here.

But whatever you need, whatever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.
Whatever you need, whatever you got
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.

There's no holding me back
I'm not driven by fear, I'm just driven by anger
And you're under attack
I'm just climbing up slowly, I'm the one and only, I...

The tease, the ways you lie, stumble in your mind.
The fear, the hope inside, they hit here.

But whatever you need, ever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.
Whatever you need, ever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.
But whatever you need, ever you got...

But whatever you need, whatever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take back again.
Whatever you need, whatever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.
But whatever you need, whatever you got,
Whatever you want, I'll take it back again.
But whatever you need, ever you got...

Whatever you...
Whatever you want.
Whatever you...
Whatever you want

My Thoughts on Chris Benoit

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO NAZRI, JOYIN AND TOBEY MAGUIRE (SPIDER-MAN!!!)

Today I got to buy the Spider-Man movie trilogy visual guide at Bugis Junction, as well as a few more stuff... very interesting double-book concept, but my only complaint was that the book didn't go into specific detail on the villains' powers, and that there wasn't any picture on Venom from the third film (after the black goo merged with Eddie Brock). Oh ya, no mention on Dr Connors either!! (grrrr)

One week from now, a few WWE Superstars will be coming down to Bugis Junction for a WWE roadshow, and one of the stars scheduled to compete is none other the recently deceased Chris Benoit.

Today's New Paper and TODAY splashed a huge main story on what is now known as the "Benoit family double-murder-suicide case"... I shant go too much into detail, except to say that both Nancy and Daniel died of asphyxiation (eh wait, both Chris and Nancy share the same birthday!), and that the possible reason behind Chris' uncontrollable rage (somthing like Wolverine's 'Berserker Rage') could be due to steroids, which is known to cause paranoia, anxiety, depression and 'roid rage'. Oh, and I suggest that u keep all thoughts of labelling Benoit a 'murderer' or 'psychopath' to yourselves for now til the final verdict is out.

Now my thoughts on Chris Benoit, whom I will never get to see in person...

Watching the Hard Knocks VCD I bought some 2 yrs ago, I must admit that there are quite a lot of things I like abt Chris, but I would name only a few... his wrestling style, his entrance music (one of my top fave wrestling themes), his down-to-earth persona and his technical prowess. The most unforgettable moment had got to be Benoit winning the World Heavyweight Title on March 14th 2004, at Wrestlemania XX. His 18 years of hard work paid off... enbracing his best friend Eddie Guerrero (who tragically passed away some 1.5 years after WM XX)... seeing Benoit embrace his family after the show, who would haf thought that 3 yrs later, such a tragedy would befall on them...

Of course I was also happy when Benoit won the United States Title a few times between 2005 to 2007, proof that he was still at the top of his game.... though my innermost wish was for him to recapture the World Title once again (in the case that was to be, the ECW World Title). Sadly, that dream would never happen...

No one can say what Chris Benoit was thinking prior to his demise, or why such a legendary wrestler ended his life in such a shocking way. What I will always remember is Benoit in happier days. Wherever you or your family may be, I know it has gotta be a better place, where there is no pain, no anger, no hatred. REST IN PEACE, DANIEL, NANCY AND CHRIS BENOIT

Shocking news... BENOIT DEAD?!?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Monika, Colleen, Jianwei and Rebecca Chan

I am so utterly shocked... at first I couldn't believe it when Tris informed me abt it via SMS "Haf you heard the latest news? Benoit passed away"... but after the next SMS from my friend Sufian, "Haf u heard the latest news? Benoit passed away... something to do with double homicide." Upon checking the various websites on the Internet at home, I am now forced to accept the horrible truth... Chris Benoit found dead after a double-murder-suicide??? No wonder he didn't turn up at WWE Vengeance!! :-O

I simply cannot believe this is happening... I am at a complete loss of words... first Eddie Guerrero 2 yrs ago, now the Rabid Wolverine. The fact that he killed his own wife and son was already very shocking... how could this happen??

Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Benoit

Stay tuned for more info on Benoit...

On a side note, I went to Hougang Mall to look for a suitable present to buy for a friend... as well as waited for Jeff, Iskandar, Lyana and Cipto... after buying a cake and some wine at the basement level, we went to Jeff's house to celebrate his wife's birthday. Had I known this was coming, I should haf gone home straightaway instead of follow Iskandar and the rest to Orchard... NO WAY am I going to use my IC to help anyone open a new line for handphone... NOT even for their own parents!! So much for 1.5 hrs of wastage...!! >:-(

Random stuff on short-term 'targets' and upcoming dramas

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...
(Sun) Andrea D'Cruz, Adam Chen and Genie
(Mon) Shu Ling and Pan Lingling

Sianz... nothing 'extraordinary' happened during the weekend other than going to church, work and surfing the Net (not to forget DVD recording!). I feel kinda lazy these days, mostly bcos I can't wait for the new school term to start? No wonder I sleep so late most of the time... :-/

My main 'target' for now...
I WANT THAT SPIDER-MAN MOVIE TRILOGY VISUAL GUIDE!!! Must get it before the last few copies fly off the shelves at Kinokuniya!!! If I dont buy it by next week, I will go crazy...!!!

Shows coming to an end...

"The Greatest Love Of All". If I haf to be honest, I didnt really take a fancy to the show from the start. But then I watched it mainly bcos it showcased Zhang Yaodong's first time foray as the male lead (yippee!!), and I must admit he did quite a good job. Another reason why I watched it is bcos it has got Joanne Peh, whom I think is also showing improvement (in her emotional scenes). Then there is Hanwei whose acting skills are second to none (not to forget, he is a two-time Star Awards Best actor winner). Apple Hong also did well as a single mum Qianru who had to put up with her autstistic daughter. Thumbs up to Huang Yiliang and Aileen Tan as well, as Wenxin's biological parents who are always on the run from loan sharks. I realised that some of the cast are Star Search graduates... Aileen, Hanwei, Constance, Apple and Yaodong. What I didnt really like abt the show was the rather dull plot (too much sob fests involved), Ng Hui's character Caining being a huge roadblock between Wenxin and Jiaxuan, Yiliang's character Yingxiong being an incorrigible gambler and drug addict, and above all else, Sucheng's character Zhipeng as a super-domineering father to Jiaming and Jiaxuan... not to forget, Zhipeng despising his youngest son Jiaxi due to his handicap. Funniest thing though, is Constance playing Hanwei's stepmum (aka Jiaxi's mum and Zhipeng's second wife) despite being 6 years younger in real life!!

"After Hours"... urgghhhh, please. The sequel to "Chase" isnt even fixed or smooth flowing lor. It may be good to have new additions like Jopeh and Max Loong, but the story gets real messy halfway, with no fixed plot. Gabriel's and Ellie's angle is also getting more complicated. Which is why I didnt even watch or record Episodes 8 to 12. And now that the show is coming to an end, I don't even know if I should keep the recording for the finale.

Shows about to debut/currently showing...
"Switched!". It stars Fann Wong and Jeanette Aw as sisters... and much like Chemistry and Just Follow Law, this show makes use of the soul-swapping concept. Terence Cao, Shaun Chen and Julian Hee also appear in this show. I may not be a big fan of Jeanette or Fann, but I wouldnt mind watching a few episodes just to kill boredom and find out exactly what the show is about (if i can get past Julian's wooden scenes, that is). However, I had sworn not to get too hooked to this show, cos I am more eager to catch the show that comes after "Switched"... one that stars two of my top fave actresses!!

"Kinship"... the latest mega-drama that's making headlines. More on that in a future post (it's gonna be quite long).

WWE Draft 2007 results...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ANTONY COSTA AND CHEW SIN HUEY

WHAT??? Two major TNA stars quit??? Konna and Ron Killings??? And to think that "The Truth" had barely made his return just weeks after a 6-mth absence due to knee injury... :-O
And although the McMahon-demise storyline received a lot of praise, there are actually people out there who thought that the chairman is really dead!!!

June 11th draft results:

Trivia:
- The only wrestlers who had been part of all three brands (before and after the most recent draft) are Chris Benoit, the Great Khali, Bobby Lashley and Daivari.
- Ric Flair was a member of RAW all the way from the very first draft in April 2002... he was one of two wrestlers (the other being Shawn Michaels) to be part of RAW longer than anyone else.
- Torrie Wilson was a member of Smackdown from the very first draft in April 2002, and was traded to RAW along with Candice Michelle on August 2005.
- William Regal was a member of RAW from the very first draft in April 2002. On June 30 2005, Regal was sent to Smackdown in an 11-person trade as part of the draft. After being drafted back to RAW, Regal left his tag team partner Dave Taylor behind.
- Hardcore Holly was a member of Smackdown from the very first draft in April 2002, but was taken out of action quite often due to injuries. He made a surprise appearance in ECW on August 2006, and would stay in that brand as a heel. Following a loss to Snitsky in April 2007, Holly took time off to remove a nerve entrapment in his elbow.
- King Booker was a member of RAW from the first draft in 2002... a few weeks after Wrestlemania XX, he was traded to Smackdown by then-GM Kurt Angle alongside the Dudley Boys in exchange for Triple H, who was drafted to Smackdown. Queen Sharmell made her debut on Smackdown in early 2005.
- Bobby Lashley made his televised WWE debut on Smackdown on September 2005. On November 14 2006, Lashley moved to the ECW brand, making a surprise appearance. Lashley went through first Hardcore Holly then speared the Big Show on the entrance ramp to sign a contract for the final spot in the Extreme Elimination Chamber match for the ECW World Championship at December to Dismember. During his feuds with Umaga, Shane McMahon and Mr McMahon, Lashley would make occasional appearances on RAW while still a member of the ECW brand.
- Snitsky made his WWE debut on Sept 2004 on RAW, as the man responsible for making Kane's 'then-wife' Lita miscarry. Snitsky then allied with Tomko in 2005, and later with Goldust in 2006, to take on various tag teams, before the latter two were released from the WWE. Throughout the majoirty of 2006, Snitsky would be used primarily as a jobber to newer stars on RAW. On Feb 2007, Snitsky debuted (with a new look) on ECW assaulting Bobby Lashley, re-establishing himself as a monster heel. Over the next several weeks, Snitsky would run into the ring after matches and attack various ECW superstars.
- The Great Khali made his debut on Smackdown in April 2006, and was managed by Daivari. After being taken out of action by knee injuries, Khali and Daivari would jump to ECW upon their return on October 2006. On the January 8 2007, episode of RAW, Jonathan Coachman announced that Khali's contract with ECW had expired, he had signed with RAW (without his manager Daivari), and would battle John Cena in the main event.
- Daivari made his WWE debut on December 13 2004, on RAW alongside Muhammad Hassan. Both Daivari and Hassan were later drafted to SmackDown! on June 23 2005 as part of a package deal. While Hassan got released from the WWE following his loss to the Undertaker at The Great Amercian Bash 2005, Daivari reported to WWE's Deep South territory for training and repackaging. On November 2005, Daivari would return as Kurt Angle's ally-cum-manager on RAW, On Angle's last night on RAW prior to his contract expiry (and joining the Smackdown brand), Daivari accidentally cost Angle the victory against Shawn Michaels, and Angle gave Daivari an Angle Slam, putting an end to their alliance. Daivari would ally himself with Mark Henry soon after. When Henry got injured, Daivari introduced the Great Khali on April 2006, and follow him to ECW. When Khali joined RAW, Daivari went back to Smackdown as a full-time wrestler in the Cruiserweight division. Daivari is the first male manager to turn into a full time wrestler in WWE history.
- During the first WWE Draft, Chris Benoit was picked by Vince McMahon third to be part of the new SmackDown! roster, although still on the injured list. However, when he returned on June 2002, he did so as a member of the RAW roster. On his first night back, Benoit turned heel again and aligned himself with the late Eddie Guerrero. He and Eddie were then moved to Smackdown during a storyline "open season" on wrestler contracts on August 2002. After winning the 2004 Royal Rumble as a Smackdown member, Benoit exploited a "loophole" in the rules and challenged then-World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, joining the RAW roster in the process. Then on June 2005, Benoit returned to SmackDown after being the first man selected by the SmackDown side in the 2005 WWE Draft Lottery, and participated in an ECW-style revolution against the SmackDown! heels. Benoit is back in ECW after 13 years competing in WCW and WWE.

Info on Doctor Doom

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO XIAOWEI, JAMES AND ELAINE

Here I am going to talk abt the Fantastic Four's mortal enemy... DOCTOR DOOM!!!

Doctor Doom seems to be more based on his Ultimate counterpart. In the 2005 film, Victor Von Doom is a billionaire industrialist and old college rival of Reed Richards. In addition to funding Richards' trip to space, he also accompanies the future Fantastic Four on the ship. In this newer film, Doctor Doom is played by Julian McMahon of Charmed and Nip/Tuck fame, and, similar to Ultimate Doom, receives superpowers in the same accident that creates the Fantastic Four. Here, he is endowed with two abilities by the cosmic rays — exposure to the rays imbues him with electrokinesis, which, similar to his technologically-derived power from the comics, allows him to project bolts of superheated energy, the only difference being that it is derived from the accident in space. Also, an injury caused by a piece of irradiated shrapnel from the shields intended to protect the station imbedded in his flesh, is steadily beginning to mutate his body into an organic-metallic compound, also much like his Ultimate version. Doom accelerates the process to completion by exposing himself to a duplicated version of the cosmic rays, when Ben Grimm aka The Thing is inside a machine that reverts him back to human. However, this process deforms his face, so Doom angrily dons his familiar mask to hide his face and become a full-feldged supervillain (which is portrayed as a mask given to him by the people of Latveria as shown on a plaque on display in his office/boardroom).

Info on the Silver Surfer

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SARGUNAN AND JEFF
Today is the start of the Cancer star

Right now I am gonna talk abt the cosmic being who stole the thunder from the superhero quartet in the Fantastic Four movie sequel... ermmm, you should know his name already, don't you? :-p

The Silver Surfer was originally Norrin Radd, a young astronomer from the planet Zenn-La. In order to save his homeworld from destruction by a fearsome cosmic entity known as Galactus, Norrin made a bargain with the being by which he pledged himself to serve as its herald. Imbued in return with a small portion of Galactus' Power Cosmic, Norrin acquired great powers, a silvery appearance, and a surfboard-like vehicle — all modeled after a childhood fantasy of his. Known from then on as the Silver Surfer, Norrin began to roam the cosmos searching for new planets for Galactus to consume. When his travels finally took him to Earth, the Surfer came face to face with the Fantastic Four, a team of powerful superheroes that helped him to rediscover his nobility of spirit. Betraying Galactus, the Surfer saved Earth but was punished in return with everlasting exile there.

POWER AND ABILITIES

The Silver Surfer wields the "Power Cosmic", absorbing and manipulating the universe's cosmic energy, and is almost totally indestructible. He can navigate through space, hyperspace, and dimensional barriers, and he can fly at near-limitless speeds on his board, entering hyperspace when he exceeds light speed. He has even proven capable of time travel on occasion. The Surfer, who sustains himself by converting matter into energy, does not require food, drink, air, or sleep. He is immune to extreme temperatures and most radiation, and he can survive in vacuum environments such as outer space and hyperspace. He can analyze and manipulate matter and energy, and restructure or animate matter at will, even transmuting elements.
He can heal living beings (though he cannot raise the dead), and he has proven capable of revitalizing and evolving organic life on a planet-wide scale. He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, fire energy blasts, form manipulate energy constructs, absorb and discharge most forms of energy, and phase through solid matter.
His senses enable him to detect objects and energies light years away and to perceive matter and energy in subatomic detail. The Surfer can even see through time, and with concentration he can achieve limited perception of past and future events in his general vicinity. He has demonstrated limited telepathic ability on occasion and has proven to be able to influence human emotion and sensation.
THE SURFBOARD
The Surfer's board is composed of the same impervious, cosmic-powered silvery material as its master's skin and is mentally linked to the Surfer by means of a tachlon pulse. It moves in response to his thoughts even when he is not in physical contact with it. The board is almost totally indestructible, but on those rare occasions when it is damaged or destroyed, the Surfer is able to repair or even re-create it. The Surfer can attack opponents remotely by directing the board against them, and the board is capable of absorbing and imprisoning other beings, at least temporarily. The board is said to be the source of the Surfer's powers; without it, his skin will turn dull and he will be greatly weakened.

My thoughts on Fantastic Four: ROTSS...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PRISCILLA KWA, YONGDA AND HUIQI

I went to watch Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer with a few old friends at Cathay Cineplex today... it was a lot better and more polished than the first one. And it's not just bcos the girl (named Sara) at the ticket booth was as cute as Jessica Alba (blushes)

What I like abt the film...
1) The plot was definitely better than the first one. Great combo of action and comedy as always. Plus, more CGI moments
2) The improved chemistry among the Fantastic Four. And more screentime for Alicia Masters, Ben's girlfriend
3) Victor Von Doom being freed from his frozen state after the Surfer zips past Latveria... and later regaining his handsome, organic features after being hit by the Surfer's cosmic rays. And his new attire stays true to his original comic version
4) Johnny absorbing all his teammates' powers before the final showdown against Dr Doom, making him similar to Super Skrull
5) the Silver Surfer creating lots of disruptions upon his arrival on earth... now I know why he created those craters on the surface of different countries
6) Marvel creator Stan Lee's cameo as himself being rejected from Reed's and Sue's wedding
7) The FantastiCar was of great help when pursuing Dr Doom in his new transport
8) Frankie Raye!! Her lips were sexier than Jessica Alba's... and she looked very chioh at the end of the film. With her hair down, she looked a lot like that cutie pie Maria Kanellis from WWE Raw

What I dont like...
1) at 90 minutes, the film seemed too short and a little rushed. I was expecting it to be abt 120 mins. On the bright side of things, this film wasn't as rushed as X-Men 3... which was waaaay more rushed and more confusing.
2) when General Hager kept yelling at Reed and team to follow his orders... turns out that they were actually old schoolmates who were never in good terms even til now. I was sniggering a little after Dr Doom disintegrated Hager with his powered up electro-beams (doubled with the power of the surfboard). That would teach that stone-faced ape to shut his trap and eat humble pie!
3) not much action for the Surfer... but then without his surfboard, what more can he do? I hope there will be a spin-off film on Norrin Radd's origins
4) Galactus was an omnipotent humanoid entity in the comics known to devour planets in order to make way for a new universe (a concept similar to the Matrix trilogy)... he does make an appearance in the film alright, and yet all the crew of Fan Four 2 can do is turn into a COSMIC CLOUD???? Heck, I cant even see his face at all!!!

Overall, I rate this film 7.5 out of 10... in spite of a few flaws, it's still worth the watch, and u wont be too disappointed :-)

Eulogy to my dear friend :-(

Dear Jasmine,

The moment I saw your photo on the cover of The New Paper this afternoon, I immediately started to fear the worst... when I saw your name inside, my worst fears were indeed confirmed, and the shock that came after that was just too great beyond description. It bums me out totally to know that you were gone at such a young age. The fact that you would leave this world just 2 weeks after your 15th birthday bummed me out even more. I'm really sorry that I got to learn abt your passing only now. You certainly did not deserve such a cruel end. Still, I want to say that I haf absolutely no regrets knowing u for these few months, cheering for the Singapore Idols and sharing pics of our fave celebs. And although I am not very close to you, nor have I been in much contact with you or even know what you've been going through, I just want you to know that I will always remember you dearly in my heart, as the sweet, kind, cheerful and pretty girl who brings a smile to everyone's faces... all I know now is that you're in a safer place...
Rest in peace Jasmine, and may God bless your soul. You will be greatly missed.
