Hey Gorgeous finals (details only)

Happy Birthday to Paul Twohill and Teng Hui

Today was a crazy day, I went to West Coast Plaza to root for Charlyene during the Hey Gorgeous finals. Turned out I was the only one who made posters... and jialatt, I kena interviewed bcos of that!! Die lah, I confirm might appear on i-weekly very soon... I pray and hope that I don't get hate mail flooding in my inbox or something... :-S

This was how the day began... I left the house rather late at 11.30 am, took train from Kovan to Outram Park interchange, then took second train to Clementi. I happened to meet fellow NATurals Michelle and Meiyan there, and the 3 of us took the free service shuttle bus to West Coast Plaza. Turned out that the place was smaller than I had thought, but then again, it was my first time there. The place was almost vacant at the time I reached the place, but when the crowd started increasing, I realized that I do need to fill my stomach, so I rushed to Subway to buy a sandwich for quick lunch.

The event started a bit late at about 1420 hrs, Lee Teng and Jiahui were the hosts. Daren, Nat and Fiona were the guest judges. Out of 13 contestants, 1 of them (John Fluckinger from Nanyang Poly) pulled out at last minute cos he was down with fever at very last minute (sibei suay). Reminded me a little of the other time when Jasmine couldnt participate in Stardust finals last year due to similar reasons.

This was what the 12 finalists did in first round...

  • Teddy (NTU) and Linda (NYP) did a duet
  • Charlyene (NTU) did a ballroom dance
  • Joash (NP) did a tribal dance (he was clad only in green towel!!)
  • Manton (RP) did a magic performance, dealing with
  • Joreen (NP) did a magic performance, dealing with colors and cards. She looked quite hot
  • Katty (SP) sang a mixture of songs while her friend strummed on acoustic guitar.
  • Ron Ng (SP) did Capeiora dance, his handstands were impressive.
  • Sharon (NUS) played an SHE number on the electric organ.
  • Gary (NUS) and Ferynn (SP) sang "Xiao Jiu Wo" (originally sung by JJ Lin and Charene Choi). Later they were made to kiss each other in the lips!
  • Serene (TP) did hip-hop dance.

Second round featured the hunks and babes in beach attire. Joreen and Ferynn looked the hottest in bikni tops... Lee Teng was close to getting nosebleed, haha!! The other girls wore floral dresses, I felt Linda got the hottest pair of legs, heh. The ones who got eliminated after this were 2 guys (Joash and) and 3 girls (Katty, Sharon and Ferynn).

Third round was Q n A for the 7 finalists, the question imposed on Teddy by the ratehr lame Lee Teng was the funniest (something to do with Brokeback Mountain or Milk, shudder). After that, came the part where the fans give a flower to the contestant they like... I obviously gave mine to Charlyene, hehe. Oh yes, I also got to chat with Charlyene's mum who was present at the scene. Charlyene got the most number of roses with 16, more than all the others. Poor Ron got only one.

In the end, it was Teddy and Charlyene who won the titles of School Beau and School Belle!! NTU reps win for second time in a row!! It was indeed a pleasure to see Fiona give flowers to Teddy, and to see Nat give flowers to Charlyene. Right after the event ended, 3 of us (Pamela, Valerie and myself) shared cab to MediaCorp to wait for the finalists to return. Val and myself went ot RG first to wait for the judges to come out... Daren had already left by then, whereas Fiona had to rush off by taxi, but before asking me to send her regards plus apologies to Xueting (who was on her way to MDC). Nat on the other hand stayed for a few minutes to chat with us fans, and yep we got to take pic with him again, just before he drove off. :-)

We then headed back to reception... a few minutes before 6 pm, the finalists came out, I took pic with 4 of the finalists... Charlyene, Teddy, Joash and Gary. Charlyene gave me a big surprise, and we hugged each other. One of the finalists left the place rather early, he was from RP I believe. 3 of the finalists (namely Teddy, Linda and Sharon) took same bus with the few of us fans to Toa Payoh interchange. After we dropped off, I took photo with sweet-faced Linda (NYP babe). Lo and behold, guess who we met at the mrt station... MABLE??? :-O She was going to Jurong East region with a friend.

To end off, we dropped off at different locations... I reached Marina Square at 7 pm to check out the auditions at Media Fiesta section; true enough, the cast of Fighting Spiders were already gone, but that's ok. I had my dinner at the food court, then took long bus ride back home.

Because I took over 400 photos at West Coast Plaza, and I am having login problems with Blogger these days, I am gonna post very few photos of the event in a future post. Provided that Blogger is working properly that is...

Pre-recording for Carlsberg Golden Ox Special

Happy Birthday to Daphne Khoo

Yesterday I went for the pre-recording for the Carlsberg Golden Ox Year Special. Having applied for half-day leave a few weeks prior, I knocked off from work at 1 pm, had quick lunch and then went to Ang Mo Kio to take bus to MediaCorp. I had a sandwish from Subway for super early dinner. The Jolliteers and Naturals were among the earliest to reach the parking lot between 4 to 5 pm. The queue increased a little within the next few minutes... response was not as good as I thought, but then that's only because the pre-recording took place on a weekday.

This is the admission ticket for the pre-recording. We were allowed to get in the upper gallery of the theater at abt 1830 hrs. Fanclubs present were Naturals, Jolliteers, Felicians, Yuwu Paradise, Fann Fanatics, Daren Tan fc and some unofficial supporters.

The stage setting as taken from the upper gallery of the theater. If I have to be honest about one thing, I was very close to turning into Venom cause there was a leggy babe sitting directly behind me at that time... who ask her to wear rather indecently? Then again, I saw a few more young girls looking equally hot with super short pants. Somebody gouge my eyes out man... :-X

At around 1930 hrs, the ticketing personnel came forth and told everyone to go down to the lower gallery. Hooray, no need to 'suffer' upstairs!! :-D This could be due to the fact that the turnout at the lower gallery was much lesser then expected. But since the front portion was filled up with people, we had to sit at the slightly higher seating region. Many of the older patrons left the place halfway during the pre-recording from 10 pm onwards, and so we took this opportunity to shift a bit closer.

New Yi Qing was the warmer!! Haha, funny guy... haven't seen him for some time liao. He had to draw out quite a lot of tickets before he and the rest of the production crew could come up with 7 worthy participants. Fortunately, most of the names selected were the non-fanclub members. Unfortunately, one of the names drawn out was a committee member of a fanclub (and she quickly gave it a miss, obviously being too shy to participate).

This was how the programme went...

  1. Christopher Lee singing "Xin Nian Hao", followed by the other artistes. This was the start of the show.
  2. Ping Hui, Chor Meng, Jeff Wang and Daren Tan singing some CNY song. It was really good to see Chor Meng participate, and he seems to be doing ok, even though he had to walk slowly during the segment.
  3. Pat Mok and Qi Yuwu played some "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game with 2 contestants. Pat's team won at record speed (thanks in due part to a few lucky dice tosses), and the way she formed the 'A' shape was kind hilarious, so was Yuwu's method of forming the letter 'B'. :-p
  4. Kelly Poon performance... she doesn't look attractive with her short and scruffy hairdo. Also, she looked very skinny!
  5. Yuwu, Joanne, Nat and Fel singing "He Xin Nian". Yuwu and Joanne sang the lines previously covered by Elvin and Jesseca respectively.
  6. Chris Lee, Priscelia and Fiona playing some game with 3 contestants involving them sliding a beer mug across a carrom table to a designated portion of the board to win some big money.
  7. An acting skit involving 8 artistes... Brandon Wong and Apple Hong as the grandparents, Jerry and Desmond as the grandsons, Jeff and Pat as the parents of the 2 boys, Nick and Joanne as the uncle and aunt of the boys. During the skit, a cow mascot would appear and try to 'attack' one of the female celebs. 4 of the Carlsberg ambassadors showed up to give their blessings, while the Friendship Ambassador Allan Wu (who was unable to attend) appeared in a pre-recorded segment.
  8. Ping Hui and Fel played another round of the "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game... this game took slightly longer than the first one, and it was Ping Hui's team that won.
  9. Fann Wong singing "Chun Tian Lai Le". Judging by the grey dress she wore, it seems like she probably "didn't have much money to buy a decent dress"... haha, kidding!! :-p
  10. Apple, Pat, Nick and Pris starting off the finale, then all the other artistes gathering to the centerstage and singing some CNY song (forgot name, though I have it in the Rat Year CD).
  11. I couldn't stop laughing when the huge-mouthed Bao Guang yelled out names like "Apple Ping Guoooo", "Jiong Yaoooo" (Brandon's Chinese name) and "Mi Xueee" (Mich Chong's Chiense name). Lol, I also saw that stinkbomb Lei Jun present at the place, at least he's wearing shoes this time round.

The recording finished at 2310 hrs, and the majority of us then headed to good ol' Radiogate to wait for the artistes to come out.

Daren was the first to come out at about 2320 hrs. Ping Hui came out at around this time, but I didn't really approach him, even though I sorta wanted to. But never mind...

Joanne came out abt 10 minutes later. I personally felt that her signature is the most unique one I have ever come across. She stayed a bit longer, and she was still there with the Jolliteers even when I took a cab back.
Fiona was by the side of the gate region... I managed to give her an advanced birthday gift as well as a custom-made photo with birthday frame. :-)

Pornsak was with Nat cos they happened to live quite near each other. Seeing that there were more people queuing up for Nat, I decided to take pic with Pornsak first (whom I had seen during the more recent Carlsberg roadshows of course).

Then I went forth to take picture with Nat. Heh, I noticed that Nat's position was quite similar to the one taken at the Christmas party in 2007. :-)

Last but not least, I went forth to take picture with beautiful Felicia (and yep, that's my hand on her shoulder, muahaha). :-)
After bading farewell to Fel and the others, I shared cab with Ryan, Da Xiong and Shu Yi to respective places. I reached home at about 0025 hrs, but not before taking pictures of 2 more xiaomaos located near my block. The brown-grey cat seemed more passive, so I stroked it with pure affection. I was aware that the white one at the grass patch is a rather cowardly one, so I left it alone. Lights out at 0050 hrs with some music... what a day!! :-p

Better luck at rehearsals (though not totally)

Happy Birthday to Brian and Farhan Firdaus

Last night after work, I went to good ol' VivoCity once more to check out the rehearsals... this time round I stayed for a little longer, and there was better luck. Although I didn't get exactly what I want, at least I got to take pic with other artistes, as well as get autographs from some of them.

Can you spot a "Spider-Man" in one of these pics?

If you think these 2 cuties look familiar, you're right. It's the teen twin-sister duo known as BY-2. They look so hawt in super short pants and with thier pouty lips, I nearly "turned" into Venom again... WHOOPS!!! :-X
I can't believe I missed out a chance to get Dai Yang Tian's autograph on the 8 days caendar which I had brought... still I managed to talk to Nat Ho for a while, I even told him my desires to duplicate myself so that I can be at more than one place at the same time. He told me it's ok... no need to worry cos I will be seeing him again very soon (aka Saturday)! :-)

More pictures taken before the rehearsals began. That's a crescent moon in the first pic, I was unable to get a crystal clear shot of it.

Yep, Felicia was there, she was the team captain for Love Blossoms team (comprising of Pat Mok, Priscelia Chan, Constance Song, Vivian Lai, Zheng Geping and Zhang Yaodong). The Little Nyonya team led by Ben Yeo comprised of Dai Yang Tian, Qi Yuwu, Nat Ho, Darren Lim, Cynthia Koh and Jeanette Aw (who came a little later). The hosts for the entire event were Dasmond Koh and Kym Ng. Also present were Jesseca Liu and Paige Chua. I saw Dawn and Elvin at the backstage region, but their segments came much later.
Daren about to sing the main theme for "Crime Busters X2".

Joining in for the seocnd round were Lucify, Yvonne Cai, Shawn Tok, Keely Wee, Teresa Tseng, Diya Tan and Carrie Yeo.
Me and Ben Yeo... I know the picture's kinda dark, but that's bcos I forgot to switch on the flash function.
Me and Daren Tan... got his autograph on the 8 days calendar.
A few minutes later... I heard a very familiar tune... I quickly turned to see who's on stage...
IT IS!!! IT IS!!!! RUI EN...!!!! :-D
I quickly rushed to the other end of the stage to get a better view...
Turns out my guess was correct, Rui En will indeed be singing "Qing Wa". Only a handful of her fans (myself included, even though I am no longer part of the FC since June) were present. I still think she should eat more... look how scrawny she is :-(
Prior to reaching VivoCity, I was already sensing a great disturbance in the Force, and so I looked around to try determining the main cause, while my "Spider-sense" is still tingling... and at ard 9 pm, I finally found the main source of the disturbance!!! And it was in the form of...
who else but the infamous, attention-seeking, despicable MKP!!! The very joker who said he wants to "live his life the way he wants it to be"!!! The very thought of im still makes me wanna puke.
This time I'll let the captions in the photos do the talking... I felt almost sorry for Cheryn to still be associating with such a joker/jackass/loser/abomination like MKP. Good thing he's not going for the countdown party, otherwise he will get it.
It is mostly because of him that I made a mistake in shouting Jeanette Aw's fave phrase as Yueniang... instead of "huan wo ji tang", I shouted "huan wo ji fan!!" and people started laughing... DOHHHH!!!! What was I thinking??? :-O
Anyway me and a few fans headed to the other side of the stage to try reaching Felicia, but to no avail. In fact, she walked past me before I could even respond on time!! And I knew I couldn't stay any longer since I still have to work on New Year's Eve (even if it's half-day).

First time ever take pic with Carrie!! :-)

Me with Diya, whom I nicknamed "xiao-mei-mei". She then made a sulky face and called me "kor-kor". :-p
Before leaving the place, i took pic with both Carrie and Diya. They will be singing the main theme for "Beach.Ball.Babes" with Teresa.
So I left the place at abt 2230 hrs, took train back to Kovan and walked home... heading to slumberland at 12 midnight. (hehe, 5 Princesses seen in one night...)
I'm not quite looking forward to the watchnight service later tonight even though it was my choice to go for it... then again, I felt it's better than getting cramped in the midst of a countdown party.
One final note: I may not be the type to make resolutions, but if I have to make one right now, it is that I shall stop dissing my enemies here or anywhere else as of January 1st... if ever I do so again, somebody please give me a punt kick to the head already!!! I am trying very hard not to be mean towards people like 'you-know-who'... but I find it too much to handle at times.
