Happenings on the weekend between Feb and March

Happy Birthday to...
1st March- Yenny, Joshua Ang
2nd March- Gayle Nerva, Lilly

Hello, I'm back. My apologies for the long delay, cos I've been rather busy uploading pictures on Facebook, and trying to think about which pictures to upload here. I'll start off with the write-ups first... pictures to be uploaded in next post.

28th March, Saturday
I went to Central at 12 plus, had lunch at Subway then walked to The Arena to register for the Magic Day event. First event was the ticketed lecture session, where JC Sum reveals the secrets behind some of the stage tricks like rope magic, 4 Aces in one spot, the egg with red cloth and coins into a metal tin. It was Ning's turn with her performing Magic Rope (luminant glows), Clothes Hangers, Strait Jacket Escape and Razor Blade Tongue Twister.

At 4 pm, came Parlor Magic by Matthew Lee, John Teoh ( a 20-year veteran in magic) and JC Sum. At 5 pm, there was a session of Beginner's Street Magic conducted by Matthew. At 6 pm, there were performances by Adeline Ng the Kinetic Girl (spinning colorful rings and tossing batons with hood over head) and Larry Lum the Escape Guy (eating fire, unlocking himself from shcakles, and freeing himself from mailbag).

Obviously I took pic with JC Sum and Ning during the event... I was superbly touched by Ning's comment on the postcard: "Dearie, you're the best!" Aaaawwww...

Me, Shanwei and Terence didn't really feel like buying tickets for Ultimate Magic II which was to be shown at 7.30 pm (even though tickets were sold at special price of $20), so we had dinner at Central, walked around Clarke Quay region for a while, and then went our respective routes home.

1st March, Sunday
Firstly, me and family went for morning service... although I had slept rather early on Sat, I found myself becoming very drowsy during the sermon. Moreover, the sermon on recovering from defeat was rather long compared to previous sermons. Anyway, at 11 plus, I went to Heartland Mall with Mother and Bro to have lunch... then I quickly took train to City Hall to attend the Creative Industries fair at Marina Square. After much thought, I decided to apply for a short course in 3D-Modelling with some encouragement by a slim and cute girl from ESDAA. I can finally refresh my knowledge in MAYA 7.0 and learn new techniques as well... :-)

Upon leaving Marina Square at 4 pm, I was bummed out by the superbly heavy downpour (rain usually came at around 3 pm these days, I noticed), but nevertheless I took a bus from Suntec to Ngee Ann City. The lower part of my jeans ended up soaked due to the numerous puddles along the way to NAC, arggghhhh!!! But anyway, upon reaching there, I was quite surprised to learn that Source and Terence had actually reached the Armed Career Fair before me!! There didn't seem to be much to look at in the Armed Forces fair other than the new uniforms and cool machine guns. The place looked a bit smaller than I had anticipated... but oh well.

Following a perormance by some violin band, there was a series of games for anyone who kena 'arrowed' by the hosts, and Terence turned out to be one of them. One of the volunteers for the game was a little girl (about 5 years old I think) named Felicia, I think she'll grow up to be just as beautiful as Felicia Chin in about 15 years' time! Yeah anyway, Fiona Xie graced the stage region at about 6 pm sharp, singing Ashlee Simpson's song "LaLa" as well as a Chinese song. She talked a bit about what she's been busy with (she returned from overseas a few weeks ago, and she's gonna start work on Calefare season 2, woo hoo!!). She then played the 'sound effects game' with 2 male volunteers, and to end off, she took group pic with personnel from army, navy and air force. Me and most of the other ans followed Fiona all the way to 3rd level of Ngee Ann City main building to chat with her a bit and take picture with her. Source, Terence and myself then went to HMV Heeren to look around for a while, headed to Orchard Emerald to have dinner at Burger King, and then go back home.

To end off the day, I watched "Casino Royale", followed by "Unexpected Access" (watching my "poor animal friends" aka the pigs get slaughtered!!) and "Minority Report", all the way til 1.30 am.

Pre-recording for Carlsberg Golden Ox Special

Happy Birthday to Daphne Khoo

Yesterday I went for the pre-recording for the Carlsberg Golden Ox Year Special. Having applied for half-day leave a few weeks prior, I knocked off from work at 1 pm, had quick lunch and then went to Ang Mo Kio to take bus to MediaCorp. I had a sandwish from Subway for super early dinner. The Jolliteers and Naturals were among the earliest to reach the parking lot between 4 to 5 pm. The queue increased a little within the next few minutes... response was not as good as I thought, but then that's only because the pre-recording took place on a weekday.

This is the admission ticket for the pre-recording. We were allowed to get in the upper gallery of the theater at abt 1830 hrs. Fanclubs present were Naturals, Jolliteers, Felicians, Yuwu Paradise, Fann Fanatics, Daren Tan fc and some unofficial supporters.

The stage setting as taken from the upper gallery of the theater. If I have to be honest about one thing, I was very close to turning into Venom cause there was a leggy babe sitting directly behind me at that time... who ask her to wear rather indecently? Then again, I saw a few more young girls looking equally hot with super short pants. Somebody gouge my eyes out man... :-X

At around 1930 hrs, the ticketing personnel came forth and told everyone to go down to the lower gallery. Hooray, no need to 'suffer' upstairs!! :-D This could be due to the fact that the turnout at the lower gallery was much lesser then expected. But since the front portion was filled up with people, we had to sit at the slightly higher seating region. Many of the older patrons left the place halfway during the pre-recording from 10 pm onwards, and so we took this opportunity to shift a bit closer.

New Yi Qing was the warmer!! Haha, funny guy... haven't seen him for some time liao. He had to draw out quite a lot of tickets before he and the rest of the production crew could come up with 7 worthy participants. Fortunately, most of the names selected were the non-fanclub members. Unfortunately, one of the names drawn out was a committee member of a fanclub (and she quickly gave it a miss, obviously being too shy to participate).

This was how the programme went...

  1. Christopher Lee singing "Xin Nian Hao", followed by the other artistes. This was the start of the show.
  2. Ping Hui, Chor Meng, Jeff Wang and Daren Tan singing some CNY song. It was really good to see Chor Meng participate, and he seems to be doing ok, even though he had to walk slowly during the segment.
  3. Pat Mok and Qi Yuwu played some "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game with 2 contestants. Pat's team won at record speed (thanks in due part to a few lucky dice tosses), and the way she formed the 'A' shape was kind hilarious, so was Yuwu's method of forming the letter 'B'. :-p
  4. Kelly Poon performance... she doesn't look attractive with her short and scruffy hairdo. Also, she looked very skinny!
  5. Yuwu, Joanne, Nat and Fel singing "He Xin Nian". Yuwu and Joanne sang the lines previously covered by Elvin and Jesseca respectively.
  6. Chris Lee, Priscelia and Fiona playing some game with 3 contestants involving them sliding a beer mug across a carrom table to a designated portion of the board to win some big money.
  7. An acting skit involving 8 artistes... Brandon Wong and Apple Hong as the grandparents, Jerry and Desmond as the grandsons, Jeff and Pat as the parents of the 2 boys, Nick and Joanne as the uncle and aunt of the boys. During the skit, a cow mascot would appear and try to 'attack' one of the female celebs. 4 of the Carlsberg ambassadors showed up to give their blessings, while the Friendship Ambassador Allan Wu (who was unable to attend) appeared in a pre-recorded segment.
  8. Ping Hui and Fel played another round of the "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game... this game took slightly longer than the first one, and it was Ping Hui's team that won.
  9. Fann Wong singing "Chun Tian Lai Le". Judging by the grey dress she wore, it seems like she probably "didn't have much money to buy a decent dress"... haha, kidding!! :-p
  10. Apple, Pat, Nick and Pris starting off the finale, then all the other artistes gathering to the centerstage and singing some CNY song (forgot name, though I have it in the Rat Year CD).
  11. I couldn't stop laughing when the huge-mouthed Bao Guang yelled out names like "Apple Ping Guoooo", "Jiong Yaoooo" (Brandon's Chinese name) and "Mi Xueee" (Mich Chong's Chiense name). Lol, I also saw that stinkbomb Lei Jun present at the place, at least he's wearing shoes this time round.

The recording finished at 2310 hrs, and the majority of us then headed to good ol' Radiogate to wait for the artistes to come out.

Daren was the first to come out at about 2320 hrs. Ping Hui came out at around this time, but I didn't really approach him, even though I sorta wanted to. But never mind...

Joanne came out abt 10 minutes later. I personally felt that her signature is the most unique one I have ever come across. She stayed a bit longer, and she was still there with the Jolliteers even when I took a cab back.
Fiona was by the side of the gate region... I managed to give her an advanced birthday gift as well as a custom-made photo with birthday frame. :-)

Pornsak was with Nat cos they happened to live quite near each other. Seeing that there were more people queuing up for Nat, I decided to take pic with Pornsak first (whom I had seen during the more recent Carlsberg roadshows of course).

Then I went forth to take picture with Nat. Heh, I noticed that Nat's position was quite similar to the one taken at the Christmas party in 2007. :-)

Last but not least, I went forth to take picture with beautiful Felicia (and yep, that's my hand on her shoulder, muahaha). :-)
After bading farewell to Fel and the others, I shared cab with Ryan, Da Xiong and Shu Yi to respective places. I reached home at about 0025 hrs, but not before taking pictures of 2 more xiaomaos located near my block. The brown-grey cat seemed more passive, so I stroked it with pure affection. I was aware that the white one at the grass patch is a rather cowardly one, so I left it alone. Lights out at 0050 hrs with some music... what a day!! :-p

Links to photos on the events I went to during the weekend

Happy Birthday to Ron "R-Truth" Killings and Sylvester Sim

Just one more day to Barack Obama's Inauguration Day!! This will indeed be a day worth remembering... :-)

Since I can't spend too much time blogging due to work, I guess I'll provide links to my Facebook photo albums as well as to the 7-Princesses blog, so you can view the pictures I took during the events for the past few days. ;-)

Lowdown on events during the weekend- part 1

Happy Birthday to Dave Batista and Kimberly Anne

What a mad rush... I just got back home from yet another crazy day... this was what I did for yesterday and today...

Saturday, 17th January (yesterday)
Before I left the house at around 1 pm, I had to leave my phone off for a while cos I was getting nuisance calls from someone who is attempting to 'manipulate' me into going for some wedding (see aforementioned post). I already had in mind what to do with the extra copy of Rui En's CD which I bought at Heartland Mall (sorry, can't tell you). I took a long train ride from Kovan to Boon Lay terminal, and entered Jurong Point with a surprised look on my face, cos the place had changed a lot since the last time I went (which was abt 18 mths ago). Matter of fact, it had gotten BIGGER!! I found the centrestage without mch difficulty and it was there that I watched the semi-finals for a certain singing competition known as "I Just Wanna Sing", sponsored by a certain W3M entertainment music school (or something like that).

After the event came to an end at around 4.25 pm, the stage 'metamorphosised' into Rui En's autograph space... the red veil over the stage background was simply removed to reveal a huge picture of Rui En's 2nd album cover. Quite a lot of people within the 1st and 2nd levels, though there were fewer people at the 3rd level. Dennis Chew from Yes 93.3 was the host for the event, he gave away 3 pairs of tickets for Rui En's birthday bash which is to commence this coming Friday (I couldnt go unfortunately). Rui En came up on stage a few minutes later, to talk about the reason behind converting back to her original name and what she's been busy with lately. She then sang "Qing Wa" and "Chuan Fan", before getting on with the autograph session. This time round, fans got the option to take picture with Rui En after getting their albums autographed. Soon after Rui En left the palce, myself and Naomi took a train out of Boon Lay to our respective destinations.

I changed train at Jurong East and took train to Ang Mo Kio, and it was there that I had dinner with Ryan and Source. We then headed to Basement 2 of AMK Hub where FairPrice Xtra was, and no sign of the Carlsberg team. It was a superbly long wait, til they finally arrived at abt 9.20 pm, nearly an hour late. But no point blaming them cos they came all the way from their earlier event at Tampines. The game segment had to be done rather quickly, and they all left the place at abt 9.55 pm, but not before taking pictures and going for a beer toast with the Carlsberg crew and the staff of FairPrice Xtra. The 3 of us then took bus back to our respective homes. These were the games that the Carlsberg Ambassadors played...
  • Michelle Chia- toss the huge dice to get 2 similar results
  • Fiona Xie- do as many hula-hoops-twirls as possible
  • Allan Wu- trivia between close friends
  • Michelle Chong- stack 20 cans of Carlsberg to the maximum within 20 seconds, without them toppling down
  • Mark Lee- put in the stated amount into the gold teal as fast as possible

Carlsberg event at Yishun

Happy Birthday to Lauren

Before I begin, I would like to make myself clear once more to my 'dear friends' Muhd Fauzi and Sufian... I AM NOT GOING FOR ISNAEN'S WEDDING!!! And that's the bottom line, cause Tanat said so!!

Yesterday I went for a Carlsberg event at Yishun Avenue 5. Wasn't much of a problem reaching the place, but then the region was rather crammed cos it was in the midst of a coffee shop (not a very pleasing sight in roadshow standards). The event started kinda late, and by the time Pornsak and the 5 Carlsberg ambassadors arrived, there were plenty of people at the place!! Thankfully I was standing somewhere in front, so I had no problem taking pictures. Event ended at around 8.05 pm, and the 6 of them stayed behind a little longer to take pic with fans. I managed to get Mark Lee's and Michelle Chong's autographs on the i-weekly magazine before they all left for the big yellow bus to Tanglin Halt Road.

I then took a bus to Northpoint, where I had my dinner. After that, I took bus back home in time to watch another episode of WWE Smackdown. Happy for MVP to end his losing streak by scoring a win over Big Show in a Last Man Standing match with some help from Triple H... a bit saddened over Victoria's decision to retire from wrestling, and quite stunned over Jeff Hardy being blinded by stray fireworks on his way to the ring for "The Cutting Edge".

Here are a few pictures taken at Yishun ave 5... more pictures can be found in my photo album on Facebook... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=82502&id=556354026

Events on Saturday

As stated earlier, I went for 4 events on Saturday, travelling to different locations within the North and Central region of Singapore.

  • Campus Superstar hosts and finalists at Nanyang Poly Open House (1415 to 1515 hrs)
  • Reunion Dinner roadshow at Northpoint (1515 to 1605 hrs; I reached the place at 1540 hrs)
  • Felicia at Ang Mo Kio Courts (1800 to 1900 hrs... I reached the place at abt 1740 hrs)
  • Carlsberg ambassadors at Suntec Carrefour (1945 to 2040 hrs)

I came up with a draft sheet and planned out the pictures I intended to upload here. But since it I have a vey tough time uploading the pics and rearranging the pics here on Blogger (a common problem I had to go through for the other entries), and I still have work to do, I decided to make life easier by uploading all of them on Facebook instead, and for easier reference too. :-)

I only managed to take pic with 2 artistes by the end of the day...

Desmond Tan at Radiogate after the roadshow at Northpoint

And with Michelle Chia at Suntec Carrefour.
I was 'robbed' of the chance to take pic with Fiona at the end of the Carlsberg event when she got escorted to the bus rather quickly... but I'm not complaining, since I already took pic with her many times in the past 2 years. Moreover, I will be seeing them again this Friday and Saturday :-)

Day of madness at Compass Point!! (caution: long entry!!)

Happy Birthday to Justin Roberts and Summer

It was truly a day of chaos, confusion and pure madness at Compass Point yesterday... who would have expected the response to be overwhelming beyond words!! :-O
Firstly I took a bus to the place at 11 plus... when i got there, I saw a rather long queue, back then I had no idea that the 100 fans had already been determined (and the first few had been there as early as 8 am!!). Still I went to the basement to have quick lunch, then headed to the right side of the stage, hopefully to get a good view... saw Melvin, Paul, Hoetian, Liqing, Peiling and Hui Si among the 100 fans (within the barricaded sector).

Wait a minute, I noticed a very familiar person among the 100 fans... oh xuete, it's Alvin The Hutt!! I won't be surprised if he's gonna scream non-stop like what he's been doing for a long time...

Funny thing was, when I showed Alvin the thumbs down here, he showed me the thumbs up in return... could be he actually 'agrees' with me on my opinion about him for once (i.e. he really sucks!!). But still I must admit it was lucky for him to get poster, so no use getting jealous of him anyway... hope he doesnt grope or caress any of the cast members later (like what he did at Ngee Ann City a few mths ago!!).

Here, Alvin seems to enjoy being the center of attention. Sounds a lot like a certain someone...!!

This was the crowd at the time I reached the ground level at abt 1 pm...

This was the overall response after 1430 hrs!!! Superbly crammed til cannot breathe at all man!! The kids aged below 12 perhaps had the most difficult time squeezing through the crowd. Due to the overwhelming response, the escalators had to be stopped for the next one hour or so for the people to stay put and watch the event. According to the Channel 5 and 8 news, the total number of people present for the event from ground floor to 4th level totalled to about 5000!!! Wah piang eh... even the last Singapore Idol season 2 roadshow at Causeway Point and the Hype Up roadshow at Jurong Point didn't contain that many people lor!!! @_@

Even the host Ben Yeo was taken aback by the great response. He joked that the amazing turnout made them all felt like ‘superstars’. Without further ado, he brought in the first batch of cast members...

The bad characters!! Pan Lingling as Xiufeng, Cynthai Koh as Xiujuan, Darren Lim as Huang Jincheng, Eelyn Kok as Huang Zhenzhu, Andie Chen as Huang Tianbao, and Zzen Zhang as Robert Zhang. There were sounds of mock booing from mostly the Jeanius fans and the Dai Yang Tian fanclub.

Next batch drew more cheers obviously... it's the good characters!! Jeanette as Huang Juxiang/Shanben Yueniang, Qi Yuwu as Chen Xi, Joanne as Huang Yuzhu, Dai Yang Tian as Shanben Yangjian, Ng Hui as Ah Tao and Li Yinzhu as Chen Lao Tai.

All 12 of them and Ben gathered together to celebrate Yang Tian's birthday (he turned 24), and then they turned around to be featured in a commercial for the roadshow turnout.

As the cast headed to the back for a rest, Ben brought forward the talented and beautiful Olivia Ong, who sang the theme song of "The Little Nyonya". Majority of them took out their mobile phones or videocams to record Olivia singing "Ru Yan". Olivia really very chio, more beautiful than the time I saw her performing by the Singapore River some 4 years ago... I thought she looked a bit like Gayle Nerva :-)

Then came the autograph session... the cast got seated first. Then as the first few lucky fans got on stage to have their posters autographed, some of us fans decided to take taxi to Radiogate... we later found out that some of the tiles actually cracked soon after we (the Jolliteers) had left!! Also, one unfortunate soul vomitted somwehere (eeeewww) at the right side of tha place, quite far where me and a few others were standing. Lucky the person didn't throw up in the middle, otherwise the situation confirm will be much more chaotic than it already was...

Funny thing was, myself and 2 more Jollity fans reached RG a little earlier than Rina, Vince, Joey and Delphine (who came by Rina's car of course)... there at RG I could already see Hoetian and gang as well as some of the fans who were among the 100. And guess who came soon after... Cheryn and that jackass... the very one who likes to step on my own head many times and 'wants to live his life the way he wants it to be'. :-S Lucky he didn't go for the event, otherwise I will sure bash him up on the spot. Although I did show him the crotch chop and middle fingers, I chose not to confront him at all, knowing too well that he's got family problems recently (it is for that reason that I made sure I don't include him in any of my pics). Plus, he looks damn gay in white cap, blue Superman shirt and green pants (Christopher Reeve would be rolling in his grave if he were to know abt this)!! I think MKP puposely wear like that just to show off his 'sexy legs'!! Who on earth does he think he is? Eminem/John Cena/Superman??? POOI EH!!! :-@

Anyway at 5 pm, the bus returned to RG, and the cast got off. Cynthia was first to show up... she didnt seem very friendly to me, although she did autograph certain articles from other fans. Not exactly my cup of tea if you ask me...

Yuwu came out to take photo with some fans (not all) and autograph some articles... he had to head back into the studiop for more stuff. I did get an autograph from him though. I personally prefer him without the woolen cap...

Joanne came out at around this time, but so did Jeanette. Knowing that Jo wouldnt be leaving so soon, I opted to go find "Huan Wo Ji Tang" first (she had to rush off to somewhere else)... I got her autograph, took pic with her and gave her a toy tiger as Christmas present (my means of showing my appreciation for her hard work). Great success!! :-)

Right after "Yueniang" left, me and a few other fans headed to Joanne... I got waekened a little when she put her hands on her shoulder again, but I held on to her waist to prevent myself from falling (no, I don't have any funny ideas at all, the pavement was rather uneven).

"Robert Zhang" came out soon after... he is the very guy who raped Yuzhu in the show. I had to admit that Zzen (the name of the real actor) makes a very good villain, even though I "hate" him and a few other characters to the core.

We saw Andie and Eelyn walking to the direction of the reception... not sure if they exited from there. Later I found out that Eelyn had left with Darren via his van... :-(

Joanne left at abt 1750 hrs, but not before posing with Piglet :-)

At abt 6 pm, a familiar face came forth... it's Fiona!! Surprised to see her yet again after me and Source had seen her at Suntec for the Carlsberg event just the day before... haha, pure luck once more! :-D Actually she was gonna attend Channel 5 countdown meeting (which she would be part of)... but it was kinda strange of her to park her car opposite RG instead of inside.

Between 6 to 6.50 pm: MKP left Radiogate at around this time, but not before opening up his super-large umbrella and showing it off to everyone else. See if he dares use it when he gets enlisted to NS!! That's when he will eventually know the true meaning of siong!! During this time, I was either chatting with Source or teasing Hui Si and Peiling with pictures of cats from my digicam...

At abt 1855 hrs, another familiar looking girl came out... IT'S YA HUI??? We were shocked (and a little sad) to see her with short hair, though she still looked as sweet and pretty as before... she took taxi home I think.

At abt 1905 hrs, Jade Seah arrived, she got to autograph on the 8 days calendars, and then rushed inside for Ch 5 countdown meeting which she was late for. I forgot to take solo pic of her, but I can tell you that she looked really hawt in dark blue top and black skirt.

At 1915 hrs, Huang Wenyong came out... he was heading to the reception area to return wardrobe.

Me and Source decided to leave the place soon after Wenyong left, but not before I teased Hui Si one more time. Both of us went to Toa Payoh for dinner, then went our separate ways. I was close to turning into Venom on the way home due to a few leggy babes aboard the same bus...
Overall it was truly a crazy, sweaty but worthwhile day at Compass Point... good thing I chose not to go for the Ch 8 countdown party at VivoCity this Wed... I can't afford to go through this kind of overwhelming and sticky situation again. Moreover, I have a New Year's lunch outing to attend on Thursday...
