Sixth recording for "U Are the One"... even more complicated shocker!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lina Ng and Weeming

Last night there was yet another shocker came in “U Are The One”… this time the situation was much more unpredictable. And I'm not talking about that stupid Miss V (who also stinks quite badly) who kept harassing me the moment I reached Mediacorp. Germaine had claimed the first round, Liang Yi got tops for the second round, and Mable scored highest for the thirs round. And yet none of these gals won the Lively Gal genre lo and behold, it was Shi Qian again!! WHAT?!?! :-O

This was what the girls did for the second round…
F1 Shi Qian- cheerleading
F2 Qiu Ting- doing aerobics
F3 Liang Yi- rhythmic ribbon
F4 Germaine- doing a hip-hop dance
F5 Mable- hulla hoop
F6 Shi Ying- random dance to
F7 Christalle- handling butterfly knives (much like Kano from the Mortal Kombat game series)
F8 Rachelle- doing a sexy dance with a few male backup dancers

The regular judge who stood out the most was Eunice… she looked very cute in rock chick-like clothes and long ponytails, a bit like Avril Lavigne… lol, I nearly mistook her for an 18-year-old girl! :-p Georgia looked rather auntie in blue jogging attire (no offence), and Addy’s hairstyle looked real crappy (his hair so short already, he still want to cut the side region again). And the guest judge for the night was… the male lead of movies like “881” and “Home Song Stories”, Qi Yuwu.

As you may have guessed, many people exited the theater with many questions regarding the shocking results still lingering in their heads. As soon as I reached the reception, first person to come out was Georgia, but I was already too much in a daze due to the shocking results (which I have nothing to say about). Still, I managed to ‘recover’ quickly enough to take picture with the handsome 715. :-)

Then I went to Radiogate to ‘try my luck’ on something… no sign of Adam Chen, but Chor Meng did come out, much to many people's surprise. And of course I took picture with ‘Kaida’… even BG's disgusting face and obsolete camera aren't enough to prevent me from taking picture with the well-known veteran actor. :-)

I went back to the reception area, and as I was playing on my PSP, and that stinkbomb Mr LJ had to sit next to me and watch me play. I managed to keep my distance from him just so I wont get suffocated by that guy’s super-strong BO. This time he was wearing an Undertaker shirt, and it did little to conceal his sweat. Mark Callaway will not be pleased about this (and it didn't help that he got stripped off the World Heavyweight Title recently. BOO!!)

At about 2240 hrs, 3 of the girls came out, but they were in a rush. It was during this time that I sensed a certain disturbance regarding one of the girls, and indeed i was right about a certain pest who is currently targeting on that unfortunate girl. About time I stop playing 'Mr Nice Guy' to these few disturbing inviduals (Miss V, Mr LJ and Miss P).
2 more weeks before the Final 8 are announced!! About time I start working on my own Qiuting poster asap...

Gala premiere of "Rule #1"!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mr Kennedy, Norman Then and Janice

Yesterday was one of the most memorable highlights for the year... I was one of 100 very lucky people who won tickets for the gala premiere of "Rule #1", and this marked my very first time watching a movie free-of-charge!! :-D

After another dreadful day in school (which I shall not elaborate on), I reached home at abt 1540 hrs to get changed, and then went to Harborfront station to meet up with Wendy (who likes Fiona). We then headed to Vivo City and reached the ticket redemption booth, only to be told that the booth will open later at plus. So we went to have our dinner at Carl's Jr... there I told her the rough story of "The Leap Years", then we headed to the booth to get our tickets (using my IC of course). Seeing that we still had time to spare, we headed to a nearby PageOne bookstore to browse through some magazines, before heading to the red carpet area at around 2015 hrs. The props looked too real indeed...

Me and Wendy posing in front of the stage segment
These are the tickets that I won!! Halleluia! :-)

Of course there were other artistes who went for the event... most surprising appearances were Elvin and Nat Ho... others were Gurmit Singh (with beard??? EEEE), Jack Neo, Shaun Chen, Michelle Chia, Ix Shen, Ericia Lee, Nick Shen, Wu Luoyi, Qi Yuwu and Thomas Ong. Got one more artiste also, but I shall reveal the name later...

Then came the director and cast... Kelvin Tong, Ekin Cheng, Shawn Yue and Fiona Xie!! Soon after they headed to the main stage, me and Wendy rushed to take pics of them. Obviously it was crowded and we could only take pictures from a certain distance. After about 10 minutes, they headed up to the Gold Class cinema to get seated.

Me and Wendy headed up to the second level of GV Vivo... and I was super surprised to see... FELICIA??? :-O And when Fel saw Wendy, her eyes grew very wide!!! (cant tell u why). I was rather upset not to be able to take pic wif Fel, cos she had her back turned as you can see in the pic (that's Shaun next to her).

Well, at least I got the chance to take pic wif 3 shuai ges: Nat, Yuwu and Elvin... after that, myself and Wendy headed to Cinema no 12 and watched the film.

Man I tell you, it's downright eerie and frightening... I had to cover my face with the newspaper quite often, while Wendy pulled at my sleeve and shrieked!! I only found out that it was a horror film one week prior. Some scenes will send chills running down your spines... and there is an interesting twist towards the end of the film.

Unfortunately, the film falls short on character development, cos there seems to be more focus on the ongoing hunt for the wandering spirit than on the characters. On an interesting nsideote, Fiona (who plays Shawn Yue's wife) has all her scenes in the apartment where she and Shawn 'live' in, and does not share any onscreen time with Ekin at all. I rate this film 3.5 out of 5 stars... you should watch it, but only if you can tahan horror films (cos I can't, I admit I'm a wuss when it comes to watching horror flicks). Thank goodness it aint as disastrous as "Men In White".

Right the film ended, Wendy had to leave early cos her dad was gonna pick her up... I met Source outside the ticket lobby and we waited for the artistes to come out. I finally got to take picture with the beautiful Felicia after so long, but not without going weak in the knees. Thank goodness my nose didnt bleed, heh. And i also managed to get 'Judge Ironfist' 's (Thomas lah, who else) signature, though I couldnt get to take pic wif him.
So happy I was, I did the Shawn Michaels thingy again (kneel down, close eyes, raise arms high and give thanks, minus the fireworks)... then me and Source headed back to our respective homes via North-east line MRT... and yep, I sure lost a lost of sleep!!!

Watching "The Leap Years"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gayle Nerva, Lilly and Anna

I went to watch "The Leap Years" as promised... at good ol' Vivo City!! I don't know why, but I just got this affinity with the place. Watching the film also helped to destress myself for the upcoming week, where I had to finish up on 2 projects (arghhhh!!!). I admit that I am not really a big fan of romantic films, but hey I don't mind watching one. :-)

There is a reason why Joan Chen is being featured prominently as the middle-aged Li-Ann... Tracy Tan from "My Sassy Neighbor" and "Heartlanders season 1" plays her stepdaughter Dylann (I guess you should know who her on-screen father is, don't you?). Somehow the shifts between the present and flashbacks of the past kinda make the plot more confusing. The show focuses on Li-Ann reminiscing the 16-yr period when she met Jeremy... meeting him for the very first time at a cafe when she turned 24 on Feb 29th. She meets Jeremy again for the next 3 leap years (at ages 28, 32 and 36), each with a different outcome. Qi Yuwu provides emotional support as the childhood friend KS. Vern, Nadya and Paula play Li-Ann's cloest friends with distinct personalities.

Oh ya, there are a few surprises during the 16-yr flashbacks (as in the 4 leap years)... Allan Wu makes a very brief cameo in the film, KS moves on and gets engaged to one of Li-Ann's close friends (3 guesses) and Li-Ann was going to marry a former Power Ranger towards the end of the film.

Yep, I think the film is quite good, I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It may not be a very fantastic film, but hey at least it is much more worth watching than films like "Meet The Spartans" (which I don't intend to watch in cinemas at all). Yet I cant help but think that it's plain silly for both female and male lead to wait at the same place and same time every 4 years (with this trend bcoming too much of an obsession)... I mean come on, who would really do that? Even Dr Catherine Lim, the author of "Leap of Love", thinks that it will be a very naive and silly thing to do.

Gala Premiere of "The Leap Years"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Calvin Lim Wee Hong, Rihanna and Farizan
Start of the Pisces Star

Yesterday I decided to go to Vivo City at the 11th hour... mostly because there was a gala premiere of an upcoming local film titled "The Leap Years" (and also partly because I didn't wanna slack at home in the evening). The film was made 2 years ago, and the release date was pushed to this year, since 29th February aka Leap Day happens every 4 years. Based on a novella titled "Leap Of Love" by well-acclaimed writer, Dr Catherine Lim, the story talks about a young Singaporean girl named Li-Ann having chance upon her special someone (a guy named Jeremy) on 29th February. Li-Ann decides to base her intuition on an Irish leap year tradition that no man will refuse any request of a lady and invites him out for a date. Together, they embark on a romantic journey that spans over 12 years, meeting three times, on the leap year.

After school ended at 5 pm yesterday, I headed back home, changed to outdoor clothes, then took train to Harborfront terminal and had my dinner at Superdog. It would be better if there were more outlets for Superdog, not just at Vivo. After which, I went up to the GV theaters, where I met Rachel (still feel like pinching her!!), Liting and Esther (plus a few more gals whom Im not too familiar with). I later saw Kaileng, Kailin, Joyce and Xueting there too. Being the quiet and 'mysterious' kind as always, I spent most of the time loitering aimlessly around the upper levels of GV Vivo City. Until... the event started at 8 pm finally... the reception area was starting to pack with many guests around that time.

Not much artistes were invited... I did see Irene Ang and a certain model named Rebecca Tan (with husband... sorry guys, but the Eurasian model got married recently). I also saw Andie Chen Bangjun and Jerry Wu Weilie from Star Search 2007, they spent most of the time chatting with 'F4' (the 4 gals). I also noticed Tracy Tan (skinny yet chioh babe) and Jason Chan (Cameron the Green Samurai Ranger!!) among the crowds... they both used to appear in "My Sassy Neighbour". Til now I find it hard to believe that Jason (who used to host "Stress Out" a few yrs ago) is already in his mid 30s... he still looked like early 20s!! (arghhh picture too blur)

Then at 2035 hrs, the emcee got on stage and kicked off the event... bringing up first Mr Lucas Chow (CEO of Mediacorp), some other VIP (I think he's the head of Raintree Pictures? Sorry forgot his name), Dr Catherine Lim (author of "Leap of Love" novel) and Jean Yeo (director of "The Leap Years" film).

Then afterwards came the cast of "The Leap Years"... Wong Li-Lin (with husband Allan Wu), Ananda Everingham, Qi Yuwu, Vernetta Lopez, Nadya Hutagalung (who is pregnant AGAIN!!!) and Paula Mala Ali (hot chick presenter from Star Sports).

Afterwards, the cast members signed their names on the poster, before gathering with the crew for a group photo.

If I have to be honest abt one thing, I kinda dislike Nadya for some unknown reason (for quite a long time actually)... maybe it's the fact that she can be rather sui bian when it comes to choosing men? I mean she's been married three times (and she is expecting her third child)!! Her oldest son should be 14 now if I remember correctly, since she became a mother at 20 and is now 34 yrs of age (but to me, she sort of looks older than her actual age). Somehow I wonder if she wants to compete with close friend Wendi Jacobs (who is a mother of 4 kids)? HAHAHA just kidding, no offence! And as for Paula, I guess some of you know that she is a divorcee? And ermmm... don't ever ask Vern who she was once married to. :-X She is gonna get married to her new boyfriend of 6 yrs in a few mths time

The event ended too quickly at only 10 minutes, with the cast members heading into the theater by a separate path, and all the guests (Jason, Tracy, Irene and so on) heading for the theater. With nothing else to wait for, I headed off for a quick stroll around good ol' Toys R Us, before taking a train back to Kovan. I think I'm gonna go for the special screening of "The Leap Years" at the same place next Monday evening! :-)
