Comm Chest event at Tiong Bahru Plaza part 1: the info

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YONG CHAO AND WEIQIANG

Jopeh hen mei wor... never mind if she admitted to being one who tends to shoot her mouth at times, we still love her all the same :-)

Days before the actual event, I purposely re-scheduled my timing to work from 10 am to 4 pm on Sat. Prior to arriving at TB Plaza, i purposely went to Bugis Junction to await the arrival of a certain Masked Rider... sure enough, Masked Rider Blade surprised me first by tapping my shoulder while i was looking thru the toys... I thot that tall slim chick wif him was HAWT. After a good 10 minutes of snapping pics of him wif various people, I decided to take a train to TB Plaza. It was the very place where I first saw Rui En upclose (as a celeb that is)
After going around the place place for 're-familiarization', I eventually saw Rina and 2 more friends at Burger King, and decided to join them in waiting (later cutie pie Adria joined us). At around 6pm, there was this young guy (forgot his name) who sang a few songs... "An Jing" by Jay Chou, "Sway" by Michael Buble, "The Greatest Love Of All" By Whitney Houston, and "Kiss Goodbye" by Wang Lee Hom. There was also a hip-hop duo who wowed the people wif their dance moves (i thot the gal was cute)... dunno if they auditioned for The Dance Floor before that.
At 1830 hrs exactly, Jopeh and Bryan Wong arrived. David Leong was the host of the Community Chest event just like last year. The two celebs picked two male contestants for a flower painting competition, then they went around the station to look thru the various letters wirtten on the charity cards. After that, they picked two female participants to play a game of Connect 4. Jopeh and Bryan then left the place at around 1915 hrs. Overall the event was worth enjoying!! :-)

F**king pissed off!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVA LONGORIA, MING THAI and TOMOKO-n-KEIKO (twins!)

I just survived from another grueling session of 'Private Sales Madness' less than 24 hours ago... at first I thot that everything was going quite smoothly, but it was around 7 pm that the customer traffic got a lot worse... so bad that I had to work overtime for 1.5 hours. OBVIOUSLY IM REALLY PISSED LOR... not just wif the ignorant customers but also wif MYSELF!! I should haf known better than to 'deliberately' damage the printer!!
Even after knocking off from work, I was still feeling rather numb and confused. If I were to continue torturing myself at such a rate, I would go insane. This is certainly not worth the 'voluntary' overtime work. My plans to resign are still in progress, but I think I know the exact date to drop the bombshell... in the meantime, wish me the best in my MIT (Media Integration) exam that's abt to commence in a few hours from now...
On a personal note, I hope those two hopeless losers Mr F and 'Mr' E get FIRED from school for good... I wont be surprised if they are no longer part of the school system come next month at the end of the month-long vacation... after all, they got what they deserve.

Dance Floor Performance Round 1: Disco theme, baby!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RANDY CHUA, DANIEL GOH AND JIA QUN

The Top 10 groups boogied their way to the disco theme in The Dance Floor. Of the few, only abt 3 groups impressed the judges greatly. There werent any major letdowns, tho groups like Breakforce Crew and J.D.I. weren't as polished as they were in the shuffle rounds... prob bcos they weren't so comfortable in those super-tight bell bottoms?

  1. Batucadas Song title: "Sorry" by Madonna
  2. Fantastic Four Song title: "I Don't Feel like Dancing" by Scissor Sisters
  3. E Squared Song title; 'Play That Funky Music"
  4. Vas and Pris Song title: "Can't Get Enough Of Your love" by Barry White
  5. Break Force Crew Song title: "Funky Town"
  6. Soul Fusion Song title: "That's The Way I Like It"
  7. Styles From Beyond Song title: "Hot Stuff"
  8. J.D.I. Song title: "Set Me Free"
  9. Melvin and Sharon Song title: "Get Down On It" (most recent rendition by BLUE)
  10. Platinum Song title: "On A Night Like This"

Unlike Singapore Idol where the contestant with the lowest number of votes gets eliminated at the end of the results show, there is no result show for the Dance Floor; moreover, the team with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated at the very start of next Wed's episode, and this means that everyone is entitled to vote as many times as they like for one whole week. So keep voting to keep your fave group in the competition! :-)

Extremely disappointing

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SK (loser!), ESTHER, CARRIE UNDERWOOD AND VICKI ZHAO

I was shocked to learn abt the overall attendance for today's lessons... ONLY 8 TURNED UP!! Today was supposed to be the deadline for the storyboarding project, yet it seems that majority of the class dont give a damn. And to make things worse, some of the absentees haf actually chosen to work instead of go to school (except for those who haf no choice)... what the hell is wrong wif them?!? I would NEVER forsake studies for work... even if it means having to head straight to work after finishing lessons rather late on certain days.
As far as the attendance and attitude for the usual absentees is concerned, these few are CONFIRMED to be fired soon... Mr F, Miss/Mr E, Miss N, Miss I, Miss R and Mr DN. Leave you to figure out who they are.
Privates Sales Madness is coming this Thursday, and already I am starting to haf nightmares. And I am still struggling to decide which month to really resign for good. But it will definitely NOT be after June.

Things to do IF I were to possess super powers

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MILLY KHOO, JEREMY, ZHEWEN AND ANTHONY

If I had special powers, I would do the following...
- fill up the ice chamber with cryokinetic powers (see Iceman or Sub-Zero)
- clean up all the tables and serve the food with superhuman speed (see Callisto or Flash)
- take down the orders of every customer without the need to ask them by mouth, aka telepathy (see Professor X or Jean Grey)
- track down other people's whereabouts wif 'spider-sense' (see Venom or Carnage)
- teleport from the workplace to the rubbish dump and back again (see Nightcrawler)
- fly from my school to my workplace at supersonic speed (see Superman)
- swing around or jump at greats heights from Orchard to Kovan within minutes (see Spider-Man)
- duplicate myself so that one 'dupe' can stay at home to watch Tv, while another 'dupe' goes out to watch movie, and another 'dupe' goes to work (see Multiple Man)

The list goes on and on...

Another song dedication to my crush

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO NORMAN THEN, PAUL TWOHILL, JASON TAN (PSS finalist) AND HUANG BIREN

I was very surprised to bump into HER yet again at Suntec City... barely a week after I last saw her at PS!! :-O Turns out that she went for a career fair wif her folks, while I was just abt to enter the other exhibition hall for the Baby Care Festival (see previous post). While I cannot be certain if I would be going for the SMU Open House this coming Sat, I got a strong feeling that I might just bump into her again. Oh dear, here comes the 'pop song angst' again... :-p

WHEN YOU COME AROUND- WESTLIFE

The day I was leaving I was feeling insecure
I thought I had thrown away all of those days
And what we had before
And now I believe it after all you had to say
I thought about every day in every way
And this is what I'll say now baby

You don't have to worry cos everything's all right
I know that you'll get me, that you'll get me through the night

Chorus
When you come around
You know you'll pick me up when I'm feeling down
And I want you to know, baby how can I show
Do I have to scream and shout?
When you come around
You only have to smile and you knock me out
But I'm here on the floor, and I'm ready for more
Baby that's what love's about

There's so many reasons why our love is guaranteed
So many reasons why I can't hide
Just what you mean to me
So say what you're thinking while you're sitting next to me
Let all your feelings show, just let me know
Just how it's meant to be now baby

You don't have to worry cos everything's all right
I know that you'll get me that you'll get me through the night

When you come around
You know you pick me up when I'm feeling down
And I want you to know, baby how can I show
Do I have to scream and shout
When you come around (oh baby)
You only have to smile and you knock me out
But I'm here on the floor and I'm ready for more
Baby that's what love's about

You don't have to worry, cos everything's all right
I know that you'll get me, that you'll get me through the night
Woahhhh

When you come around (when you come around)
You know you pick me up when I'm feeling down (feeling down)
And I want you to know, baby how can I show
Do I have to scream and shout
When you come around (oh baby)
You only have to smile and you knock me out (knock me out)
Well I'm here on the floor and I'm ready for more (ready for more)
Baby that's what love's about
When you come around (when you come around)
You know you pick me up when I'm feeling down (feeling down)
And I want you to know, baby how can I show (yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Do I have to scream and shout (yeah yeah yeah)
When you come around...

Event at Suntec Convention Hall

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVA MENDES AND EMILEE KANG

Well the Baby Care Festival event at Suntec Convention Center wasnt really that interesting (the segment on the money Meg promo lasted for only half an hour!!)... even if Rachelle and Ezann were on stage (along wif Justin and Jason Tan). I realized that my support for Ezann wasnt as strong as the support I had for other artistes like Rui En, Joanne and Felicia. It doesnt help either that the sweet-faced one will be returning to her studies by July... she's still uncertain whether she would continue acting soon after. I did take quite a lot of photos, but due to time constraints wif school and work, I would only upload the best selected few, as well as other pics I took outside Suntec.

Happily Ever After guide 4: Info on the Eight Immortals

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GAYLE NERVA AND WILLAM PHUA

Now that "Happily Ever After" is coming to an end, i guess i finally can post the last segment of the character guide that had been overdue for sooooo long (esp since the Chinese new Year season is coming to an end).

Lu Dongbing (played by Zhang Wenxiang)
呂洞賓 is the most widely known of the group of deities known as the Eight Immortals and hence considered by some to be the de facto leader. He is depicted in art as being dressed as a scholar and he often holds a sword that dispels evil
. The kindness of Lü Dongbin is demonstrated in the Chinese proverb "dog bites Lu Dongbin" (狗咬呂洞賓 gŏu yăo~), which means an inability to recognize goodness and repay kindness with vice. The original saying proverb should actually be "苟杳呂洞賓,不識好人心", story orginating from the friendship between Gou Miao and Lu Dongbin, whom both did great favours to the other and yet it seems like a disservice initially, signifying the importance of having faith. is also a very productive poet. His works were collected in the "Quan Tang Shi" (Complete Tang Dynasty Poetry).

Lan Caihe (played by Bryan Wong Yuan Lee)
藍采和 is the least known of the Eight Immortals. Lan Caihe's age and sex are unknown. The deity could be a hermaphrodite, but in the form most well-known he is a young effeminate boy or youth carrying a bamboo flower basket. His behaviour was out of norm and known for its bizarreness. He wore only shorts and thin shirts in winter, and thick jacket and long pants in summer. He walked with one foot bare and another with shoe.

He Xian-gu (played by Belinda Lee)
何仙姑 is the only female deity of the Eight Immortals. She was the daughter of Ho T‘ai, of the town of Tsêng-ch‘êng, in the prefecture of Canton. When she was about 15 years of age, a divine personage appeared to her in a dream and instructed her to eat powdered mica, in order that her body might become etherealized and immune from death. So she swallowed it, and also vowed to remain a virgin. In the ching lung period (about 707 CE) she ascended on high in broad daylight, and became a hsien. Her lotus flower improves one's health, mental and physical. She is depicted holding a lotus flower, and sometimes with a shēng (instrument) (笙), or a fènghuáng to accompany her. She may also carry a bamboo ladle or fly-wisk.

Zhang Guolao (played by Liang Tian)
張果老 is one of the Eight Immortals. He is known as Master Comprehension-of-Profundity (通玄先生 Tōngzhào Xiānshēng). He was the most eccentric of the eight immortals, as one can see from the kung fu style that was dedicated to him — which includes moves such as delivering a kick during a back flip, or bending so far back that your shoulders touch the ground.

Li Tieguai (played by Steven Woon)

李铁拐 is the most ancient of the Eight Immortals of the Daoist pantheon. He is irascible and ill-tempered, but also benevolent to the poor, sick and the needy, whose suffering he alleviates with medicine from his gourd bottle. He is portrayed as an ugly old man with dirty face, scraggy beard, and messy hair held by a golden band, walking with the aid of an iron crutch.

Cao Guojiu (forgot actor's name)

曹國舅 was said to be the uncle of the Emperor of the Song Empire, being the younger brother of Empress Dowager Cao. He is shown in the official's court dress with a jade tablet. Sometimes he holds castanets. His jade tablet can purify the environment.

Zhongli Quan (forgot actor's name)
鐘離權 is one of the most ancient of the Eight Immortals, and the original leader of the group. He is also known as Zhongli of Han (漢鐘離) because he was born in the Han Dynasty. He possesses a fan which has the magical ability of reviving the dead. In Daoism, he is known as 正陽祖師 (Zhèng Yáng Zú Shī), literally the True-Yang First-Master. He is Master Cloud-chamber (雲房先生 Yún Fáng Xiān Shēng) in accounts describing his encounter with Lü Dongbin before achieving immortality.

Han Xiangzi (played by Sugianto)

韓湘子 was born Han Xiang in Tang, and his courtesy name is Qingfu (清夫). He is the nephew or grandson of Han Yu, a prominent statesman. Han Xiang studied Daoism under Lü Dongbin. Once at a banquet organized by Han Yu, Han Xiang persuaded Han Yu to give up a life of officialdom. But Han Yu was adamant that Han Xiang should give up his life of Daoism, so Han Xiang demonstrated the power of the Dao by pouring cups after cups of wine from the gourd without an end. Because his flute gives life, Han became a protector of flautists.

Blah talk on school and Dance Floor

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KING BOOKER, JOSHUA ANG AND BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD (Gwen Stacy)

The machine gun speaking freak finally returned from her overdue stay in India, and somehow she dosent seem to talk much. Then again, I would rather focus on my projects than on this anti-social Samoan.
I was shocked to learn from the notice board that half the class got debarred from the main exams... who ask them to ponteng lessons and go MIA most of the time!! >:-(
The 2 teams that made it to the Performance Rounds were Soul Fusion and E-Squared.
The 8 teams that would battle for a second chance in the Wildcard Rounds consisted of...
  1. Lush
  2. J.D.I
  3. Platinum
  4. R.E
  5. Freestylerz
  6. Two
  7. D2K
  8. Just The Two of Us

Sad to know that teams like SML, SNAAP and Streetz Disciple wont be coming back.
