Watching a movie and buying a new CD

Yesterday I went to Vivo City to haf lunch at Superdog, and then went to watch "Alvin and The Chipmunks"... quite a good show, but not so fantastic either. The 3 brothers got too exhausted from days of non-stop work and very little rest, no thanks to the evil treatment from the music producer Ian Hawke (I remember him from Scary Movie 2). It's a good thing though that they decided to go back to their 'dad' Dave Seville in the end. Their voices really make the audience (esp the gals) go HAIYOHHHHH....!!! Jason Lee aka Earl Hickey from "My Name Is Earl" would play Dave!!! I rate the film 6 out of 10 stars.


Character synopsis on the main characters...


Alvin Seville
The middle brother and leader of the pack, Alvin is an emotional roller coaster. His enthusiasm is boundless and his despair bottomless. The term look before you leap definitely doesn't apply to Alvin, who is impulsive, charming, musical and full of animal magnetism. What others might characterize as half-baked schemes, Alvin prefers to see as challenging the ordinary. Alvin's signature color is red. He knows how to play the guitar and harmonica.

Simon Seville
The eldest brother, Simon is the intelligent realist of the group. In addition to having an IQ just north of Einstein, Simon possesses a very dry sense of humor as well as a keen wit. His chess master mind allows him to anticipate Alvin's hare-brained schemes (Simon's phrase, not Alvin's) and devise the solution that is invariably required. Simon's signature color is blue. He can play the keyboard and the bass.

Theodore Seville
The youngest and chubbiest, Theodore is the cute innocent butterball of the group. He is shy, loving, sensitive, gullible, trusting and naive. In short, he is an easy target for Alvin's manipulations. In fact, Theodore often holds the swing vote between his two brothers' choices of action. Simon appeals to Theodore's better nature while Alvin goes straight to bribery. He constantly gets snack attacks and would always like something to eat. Theodore's signature color is green. His instrument is the drums.

David "Dave" Seville
The Chipmunks' adoptive father, song writer and manager. Like any other single parent trying to raise three kids, let alone three hyperactive chipmunks, Dave has his patience tested on a daily basis. Not only does he juggle his professional life as the songwriter for the musical trio, but he's also the Chipmunks' father and confidant. While Dave struggles to remain calm and objective, Alvin often pushes him over the edge, reducing Dave to his famous yell, "A-L-V-I-NNN!!!!"



I also bought a new CD titled "December Stars". Also not so fantastic, the whole CD lasted for only 35 minutes. I didnt like "Last Christmas" even though Nat Ho was one of the 4 male singers for that song, cos the song sounded rather gay, and 2 of those actors (not Nat of course) sounded a lot like Victor Tang and Jerry Ong. At least "Merry Christmas Everyone" by Joanne, Jade, Felicia and Fiona was much better. Keely's cutesy voice in the first of two Campus Superstar XMas medleys was really strong, and got me 'tapping out' thru the whole 3 mins. Ditto for Teresa Tseng's voice in the 2nd CSS XMas medley.
Less than 24 hours to the 2nd NATural gathering... can hardly wait!! :-p

Hady Mirza the Asian Idol???

It's nearly 48 hours since the results of Asian Idol, and I'm still trying to swallow the fact that had been whirling in my head all this while... Hady Mirza, representing our small sunny island, being crowned the first Asian Idol? None of the citizens of the other 5 countries or the HapyHadys could have expected it. Even Hady himself could not believe it; his mouth dropped in disbelief, he fell to his knees, he covered his face and cried tears of joy. It's a fact that is much more shocking and earth-shaking than the results of Star Awards 2007. It's a win that would make Taufik Batisah envious.

No offence to Hady or his supporters, but Hady, who comes from a country with a land mass and population much smaller than that of the other 5 countries, winning the title? If the results were anything to go by...

Wait a minute... the whole show takes place in Indonesia and yet Mike got the lowest score??? @_@ I think the Indonesians are very angry and bewildered by the results... I wont be surprised if the Indonesian Idol forums are being flooded wif many posts of anger, disbelief or even demands of revote.

I am utterly speechless... I got nothing against Hady. He's not the strongest performer, and he beat all the rest. Could haf been Jaclyn Victor to win the title had she not lost out to Hady by a mere 1%. I would say it's got something to do wif clean-cut looks, x-factor, charisma and not just good vocals. Who wouldve thought that the very person we last saw perform at Courts Megastore 2 weeks ago would emerge as the best in the whole of Asia? With his unique soulful voice and charming looks, Hady will now represent Asia to promote the diversified Asian music to the world. And other than an international recording contract, he gets to win a free trip around the world to watch international Idol shows!! :-O

And Taufik? 3 years after winning the first Singapore Idol contest, he's struggling in Malaysia trying to promote his third album and known only in some parts of Asia. And I dont know what Jonathan must be thinking right now...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN, VIVIAN LAI AND WEICHENG

Right after the show ended on Sunday, most of the fans (abt 60 to 70 i think) headed straight to Radiogate. The first artiste who exited from the place at 2205 hrs was Terence Cao; he looked really cool and calm even though he didnt win Top 10. He was escorted to a taxi cos he needed to rush off for something. The next artiste who came out at around 2240 hrs was Hanwei. Seeing him apologize to his fans for not trying hard enough to make it to the Top 10 made us feel kinda bad.

Then as the clock struck 2300 hrs, first artiste to drive out was RUI EN!!! 'Madam Xiaoqian' spent a good 15 minutes wif us fans (I think 30 of them)... pity I couldnt get to take pic wif her, mostly bcos the flash function for my digicam had gone MIA AGAIN. I did show her the posters that I brought along to Courts Megastore the other time. Poor Rui En, she wasn't feeling so well, so I decided not to take pic wif her. Esp since i already did so last week :-)

2315 hrs- Ivy Lee came out, and the camera flash still failed on me. I had no idea that Eric liked Ivy also. So here's one for Eric. :-)

2320 hrs- Rebecca Lim came out!! I was super surprised to see the sweetie exit from RG, cos I thought she would usually exit from the reception.

2325 hrs- Joanne drove out, and Zoe was escorted via taxi. Joanne asked me why I seem so quiet, and i explained how unhappy I was over the fact that only 3 out of 7 princesses won in the end. Jopeh said that we fans shouldnt be too disheartened, and that it's only a 'telephone game'. I managed to take pic wif her even though the picture quality from my camera phone wasn't very good. You may not know the unlucky dude in the pic, but u sure know who's da pretty gal next to him :-p

2330 hrs- Best Actress winner Yvonne Lim aka Wen Wanrou came out. The policeman in charge gave us abt 5 minutes to get autographs or take pic wif her. I managed to take pic wif her wif some help from Ryan... many thanks! :-)

2335 hrs- Around this time, Jeanette drove out, but this time I didnt follow. Not bcos I dislike her (cos I dont), but bcos I could sense that she wasn't too happy abt being left out from the Top 10. I hope she didnt take the loss too personally...

2340 hrs- Ezann Lee came out of Radiogate. Another surprise since i thought she would exit from reception. She looked really pretty wif long hair now, and with her petite frame and baby face, she kinda reminds me of Daphne Khoo.

2345 hrs- Felicia drove out, and lots of fans crowded around her of course (almost same number as those for Rui En earlier on). At the same time, her 'husband' Ping Hui drove out by the other side. I kinda regretted not being able to take pic wif TPH, but then again, Im closer to Peipei/Lin Fei than to Wenjing/Kaijie. Mr Kiam-Pa sure damn evil...

0000 hrs- Then came my top 2 fave hunks... Elvin and Nat!! Heh, Nat's exit from RG assured us that we dont need to go to the reception anymore. So many pics with Mr Bear in less than one year, and indeed i will see Nat again on Thursday :-)

0020 hrs- I received an SMS from Kendrick containing some rather unbelivable news... that Hady Mirza won Asian Idol??? OH MY GOD... more on that in the next post! :-O

0025 hrs- after some time, myself, Ryan and Joyce decided to share cab to our respective homes... I was too tired to wait for my other 'priorities', Eelyn and Dawn. By that time the other fans had also left the place liao. There were only two fans waiting at RG, one of them talking rather loudly as if he were in a hawker center.

0055 hrs- reached home of course.

0130 hrs- moments before going to sleep, I tested the camera once more, and guess what!! The camera flash went back to active duty again!!! WTH -_-"

Star Awards 2007 results (my first time watching it at the theater)

As always, the results for Star Awards are always bound to have surprises. This year's results are no exception, esp when it comes to the issue of the 7 Princesses. And I cant say anything much abt the Mr Sea gathering, since it's more of a private function.

What I am happy for...

• the winners for Best Actor and Best Actress... Zheng Geping for his role as Joanne Peh's father in "Like Father Like Daughter" and Yvonne Lim for her role as the psychologically disturbed Wen Wanrou in "Metamorphosis". Could have been Ping Hui and Biren for their roles in "Mars vs Venus", but oh well these wins are also very deserving.
• Tung Soo Hua winning Best News/CA presenter for the 4th consecutive time
• Most of the Top 10 Male Artistes winning... esp ELVIN!!! :-p
• Jesseca, Rui En, Felicia, Biren and Ivy winning Top 10 awards. Next year Biren will be awarded the All-Time Favorite Artiste Award since this is her 10th win for the Top 10 category.
• Jess and Fel look damn hot in their respective dresses... Jess got the legs, and Fel got the bust!! Very good figures!! :-D

What I am cool with...

• Yifeng and Xiang Yun winning Top 10 awards.
• Darren Lim and May Phua winning Best Supporting roles. Saddened that Brandon and Eelyn didnt win. I was shouting damn loud for the latter two!!
• Dasmond Koh's surprise re-entry into the Top 10 list after a 3-year drought.
• Pornsak winning Best Newcomer award. I personally prefer Nat Ho to win, but Pornsak is also a very strong contender.

What Im not too pleased about...

• Bryan Wong losing out to Mark Lee for the Best Variety Show host award
• Kym Ng, Michelle Chia and Vivian Lai winning Top 10 actress awards
• Jeanette, Joanne and Fiona being denied their spots in Top 10 actresses
• Hanwei, Terence and Pierre being denied their spots in Top 10 actors
• Only 3 out of 7 princesses winnign Top 10. And i was expecting 5 at the most!!
• The fact that the fanclubs for 5566 and Club 183 booked a lot of tickets for this one!! HUMPHHH >:-(
• The voting system!! I still dunno how come Jeanette, Fiona and Joanne can be excluded in the end when they had been in the Pai Hang Bang for so many weeks. I wonder how the public survey operates

Oh and one last thing... many congrats to Hady Mirza for being crowned the first Asian Idol!!!

It's the end of the first half of the final semester. How time really flies eh.

I just finished the assignements I had mentioned earlier... even in 'tubulent times' like these. Altho I must admit, I was kinda half-hearted when it came to completing the Advacned 3D mini-project... why worry so much abt it when I know I will still get a pass anyway?

Can't wait to go for a certain function in a few minutes time...

Still waiting for more tickets for Star Awards... but then again, thinking abt it, I think it should be ok for me to take a backseat for those who didnt watch last week's SA 25 yrs show. Or maybe I shouldn't. Heck, I dunno!!!

For the next 3 Sundays, the X-Men film Trilogy will be shown on Star Movies!! Marvel fanatics, do tune in to these shows...

School assignments almost done... whew!

Another school term is coming to a close, another year is about to be gone in a few weeks... and man I tell you, it's not an easy path at all. Esp when i haf to complete Advanced 3D mini-project and Games Design trailer. The GDMD mini-project I can manage (good thing I managed to finish the shooting game on Monday), but the Advance 3-D one... although im close to finishing it, I can't help but say that it's quite a killer!! And that's not the end of my problems... still got tons fo stuff to do for PNP presentation during the 3-week break, AND film-editing for the 1-minute DVP project!!
Only 3 more days to Star Awards 2007... and still no news of tickets!! I would prefer it if guest stars such as Club 138 and 5566 were never invited for this event. I thought the show is supposed to be about local artistes being rewarded for their hard work or popularity? :-/
Joanne looked really sweet and cute in "Princesses and The Dude" last night btw. Too bad I dont haf any picture of her and Bryan to upload here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RANDY CHAN AND KEVIN

I'm feeling kinda down lately... bcos of two cases.
1) My phone bill shot up over the maximum rate (thanks not to excessive use of Broadband!!) and I haf to withdraw a lot of cash to deposit into my standard account. THE HIGHEST BILL IN MY 6 YEARS OF HANDPHONE USAGE!!! WTF!!! :-O I haf no one to blame but myself. Yes, I haf to bear full responsibility for my own actions. Looks like i really haf to continue working at MB til Chinese New Year to earn back the money that I wasted over Broadband connections. (no work, no money) Thank goodness I didnt vote so often for the Star Awards artistes, otherwise my mum will certainly kill me. I shall never touch the Internet button on my phone ever again. :-(

2) I won tickets for the Kinship 2 preview-cum-Christmas Bash, but my joy was short-lived. I got an SMS from Roy stating that I can't take urgent leave, and even if I were to throw MC, I need to go to a polyclinic (which is like DAMN EX!!). Kinda exepected actually, some more i wasn't really confident on my chances of winning tickets. After much thought, I decided to sacrifice this worthwhile moment by giving away my tickets to anyone who is free for the WHOLE of Saturday. After all, I can always see Elvin and Eelyn (main priority) again on Sunday. I know Eelyn will understand, and she will tell me that it's not worth neglecting my studies or work over celeb chasing (that's what Mr Sea told me and his fans back in the Tab TV recording 7 mths ago). Still, it totally sucks to be robbed of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And I wouldnt want to resign just bcos I cannot participate in the Kinship event. Unlike SOMEONE who is going to quit from his cashiering job after only one month of work!!

Looks like I haf to kneel down at one corner and beg the Lord for forgiveness, as well as thank Him for bad times like this... I hope I fare much better in my next phone bill. Otherwise, I will chop off the tip of my fingers. May God have mercy on me!! :-(

Madness at Radiogate after SA Qing Qian 25

Continued from earlier post...

Straight after the show, most of us fans headed to Radiogate of course! I was lucky to rush there like an athlete, cos the very first artiste I saw was...

RUI EN!!! Woo hoo super happy... managed to take pic wif the cool beauty for the tenth time!! i even managed to pass my phone to her so she can talk to Steph! :-D

Next came the very talented and friendly Gurmit, wif his Stone Cold Steve Austin hairstyle.... it's the third time he had gone bald I think. Still, Mr PCK looks good even when bald, and i was happy to haf taken pic wif him at long last... :-)

Elvin drove out next... followed by Hanwei. I was so excited after taking pic wif the very nice and friendly Hanwei, I forgot to tell him that I liked his acting in Metamorphosis! As for Mr Bear... wahaha, got to see him 3 times in one week (and take 8 pics wif him in less than a year!! I hope Tris doesnt get jealous) :-p

Soon after, Jesseca Liu walked past and was about to board Elvin's car (oooooohhhhh)... man she looked so chioh wif hair extensions. Somehow I prefer her wif the Yusheng hairdo now. Dunno why Jopeh drove off soon after without stopping... and Pornsak headed straight for the taxi. Fann Wong drove out soon after that, but I didnt go after her. Same goes for Renfred.

Jeanette came out and stopped her car for the fans! Finally... my very first time taking pic wif the squeaky voiced cutie had finally come!! Stay tuned for my collage of "Seven Princess Memories"!! ;-)

Next was Edmund Chen, but he was in a rush, and i couldnt even get a clear solo shot of him. Mr BG was whining over not being able to take pic wif him though. His camera still as lau pok as ever I must say. After which, came Shinan and Lingling. It was an honor to take pic wif the celeb couple, esp wif lingling who still looked gorgeous as ever.

Then came Zoe (Screen Sweetheart of the 90s era), but then came the other Screen Sweetheart, of the current decade that is... none other than FELICIA!!! i couldnt get to take pic wif the Mei Ren Yu though (she was blinking at this pic, arghhh!!!), cos she was feeling rather tired. Oh well, at least there's still Dec 16th to look out for...

NO WAIT... I actually did take pic!! Thanks to the wonders of Photoshop... and thanks also to the owner of this pic! Can't tell you who... :-X

Then at 2320 hrs, came the 'main priority of the night'... DAWN YEOH!!! And yep, I succeeded in passing to her the bag of 'bu neng suo de mi mi' that I vowed to do so befroehand; MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. And i was super touched cos Dawn remembered me from the pictorial book launch last year as well as at the wedding scene at CHIJMES some 7 mths ago... so happy I was, I did the crazy prayer stance again... SHAWN MICHAELS STYLE!!! I bet Dawn's squealing wif joy after opening the present :-D

Fiona still didnt come out after 2330 hrs, but then again, the Fiona fans (Eric, Liping, Willie, etc) had already left earlier. Pity Jonathan Leong wasn't invited to perform the main theme of "Qing Qian 25"... haf to wait for another 2 weeks before we can see him at the Popular Bookfest.

Can't wait to watch Star Awards 2007... die die MUST get tickets!!!

Yesterday (Friday)
Yeah I know, I saw myself on TV on Thursday night, I looked horrible. Worst part is, all the footage of Vern interviewing the fans had been omitted... but then again, it's understandable cos the show is only 30 minutes long. Thank goodness there hasn't been any news of earth-shaking fans here, as seen in the re-enactment where 500 Chinese nationals (!!!) barged into the hotel room of HK director Benny Chan and literally scared the pants off him!! :-O Now THAT is truly disturbing... even more so than a certain Mr BG and Miss QW.

Initially I wanted to start filming on the 2nd DVP assignment soon after being dismissed from another dreadful GDMD lesson, but realised that I was too worn out to even do so. So I reached home early at 1330 hrs and slacked around... heading for work at 5 pm.

Today
A long, long day at work... rather not talk about it. At first I thought that a certain event (which I cannot reveal for personal reasons) would be held today, but i was wrong. Seems like it has been postponed to next week, but oh well, at least i can still spend some time in the Net at night rigte? My early Christmas wish/New Year's resolution is to get the F out from my part-time job by end of January (or some time after). I dont even haf the time or energy to talk about the various categories for the Star Awards Qing Qian 25 special that I will be attending tomorrow... for now, I will dedicate this song to everyone who reads this and to all the Jerichoholics.
