Gala Premiere of "The Leap Years"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Calvin Lim Wee Hong, Rihanna and Farizan
Start of the Pisces Star

Yesterday I decided to go to Vivo City at the 11th hour... mostly because there was a gala premiere of an upcoming local film titled "The Leap Years" (and also partly because I didn't wanna slack at home in the evening). The film was made 2 years ago, and the release date was pushed to this year, since 29th February aka Leap Day happens every 4 years. Based on a novella titled "Leap Of Love" by well-acclaimed writer, Dr Catherine Lim, the story talks about a young Singaporean girl named Li-Ann having chance upon her special someone (a guy named Jeremy) on 29th February. Li-Ann decides to base her intuition on an Irish leap year tradition that no man will refuse any request of a lady and invites him out for a date. Together, they embark on a romantic journey that spans over 12 years, meeting three times, on the leap year.

After school ended at 5 pm yesterday, I headed back home, changed to outdoor clothes, then took train to Harborfront terminal and had my dinner at Superdog. It would be better if there were more outlets for Superdog, not just at Vivo. After which, I went up to the GV theaters, where I met Rachel (still feel like pinching her!!), Liting and Esther (plus a few more gals whom Im not too familiar with). I later saw Kaileng, Kailin, Joyce and Xueting there too. Being the quiet and 'mysterious' kind as always, I spent most of the time loitering aimlessly around the upper levels of GV Vivo City. Until... the event started at 8 pm finally... the reception area was starting to pack with many guests around that time.

Not much artistes were invited... I did see Irene Ang and a certain model named Rebecca Tan (with husband... sorry guys, but the Eurasian model got married recently). I also saw Andie Chen Bangjun and Jerry Wu Weilie from Star Search 2007, they spent most of the time chatting with 'F4' (the 4 gals). I also noticed Tracy Tan (skinny yet chioh babe) and Jason Chan (Cameron the Green Samurai Ranger!!) among the crowds... they both used to appear in "My Sassy Neighbour". Til now I find it hard to believe that Jason (who used to host "Stress Out" a few yrs ago) is already in his mid 30s... he still looked like early 20s!! (arghhh picture too blur)

Then at 2035 hrs, the emcee got on stage and kicked off the event... bringing up first Mr Lucas Chow (CEO of Mediacorp), some other VIP (I think he's the head of Raintree Pictures? Sorry forgot his name), Dr Catherine Lim (author of "Leap of Love" novel) and Jean Yeo (director of "The Leap Years" film).

Then afterwards came the cast of "The Leap Years"... Wong Li-Lin (with husband Allan Wu), Ananda Everingham, Qi Yuwu, Vernetta Lopez, Nadya Hutagalung (who is pregnant AGAIN!!!) and Paula Mala Ali (hot chick presenter from Star Sports).

Afterwards, the cast members signed their names on the poster, before gathering with the crew for a group photo.

If I have to be honest abt one thing, I kinda dislike Nadya for some unknown reason (for quite a long time actually)... maybe it's the fact that she can be rather sui bian when it comes to choosing men? I mean she's been married three times (and she is expecting her third child)!! Her oldest son should be 14 now if I remember correctly, since she became a mother at 20 and is now 34 yrs of age (but to me, she sort of looks older than her actual age). Somehow I wonder if she wants to compete with close friend Wendi Jacobs (who is a mother of 4 kids)? HAHAHA just kidding, no offence! And as for Paula, I guess some of you know that she is a divorcee? And ermmm... don't ever ask Vern who she was once married to. :-X She is gonna get married to her new boyfriend of 6 yrs in a few mths time

The event ended too quickly at only 10 minutes, with the cast members heading into the theater by a separate path, and all the guests (Jason, Tracy, Irene and so on) heading for the theater. With nothing else to wait for, I headed off for a quick stroll around good ol' Toys R Us, before taking a train back to Kovan. I think I'm gonna go for the special screening of "The Leap Years" at the same place next Monday evening! :-)

Goodbye, Lydia

This is really sad... first we lost Jimmy Nah aka MC King early last month... then Hollywood actor Heath Ledger passed on a few weeks later. Then on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year, Ah Meng left this world. And at 11 am today, barely a month after the tragic passing of MC King, I received an SMS from Mum... "FYI, Feifei Lydia passed on earlier today".

Veteran Hong Kong comedian and actress Lydia Sum, best recognised for her curled-up hairstyle, big glasses, plump physique and cheerful personality, had passed on at 8.40 am today, at the age of 60. Cause of death was due to liver cancer resulted from a prolonged bout of complications related to a cholecystectomy done in 2002. She leaves behind a young daughter Joyce Cheng, as well as her ex-husband, popular HK actor Adam Cheng.

She once came here to act as the main lead for her very first English-speaking show, the Singaporean sitcom titled "Living With Lydia" (which ran for 4 seasons). Her role as Lydia Lum (an obvious loose adaptation of her real persona) in that sitcom earned her "Best Comedy Performance by an Actress" award at the 2003 Asian Television Awards. Somehow her death reminds me too much of Anita Mui, who died 5 years ago after a long battle with cancer.

Goodbye, Lydia. You have brought much joy and happiness into our lives. I will miss your smiling face and trademark laughter. My prayers go out to your loved ones. You will always remain in our hearts. :-(

Good Lord Almighty... shocking cover gal!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tengku Adil and Itha

First and foremost, I wanna congratulate Mr Collin Yeow and Mr Adrian Yap for winning the Amazing Race Asia 2!!! You certainly did our country proud...!! :-)

My digicam got some 'injuries' recently... I can't elaborate on how that happened. Somehow the communication between the USB port from the digicam to the computer could not be established. But not to worry, I found another way to transfer the pictures, and that is by the multi-function flash drive unit that I hadn't used for some time. Great success!! :-)

I won't be posting much for the next few days starting from this Friday due to the PNP project that I need to complete. But in the meantime... I wanna show you something that caused me to go weak all over... SHENG JING PO!!!

Something that made me blush non-stop... MISS GORGEOUS!!! (pouts lips)

And something that nearly made me wanna transform into VENOM!!! I have only 3 words to describe the Queen of Caldecott Hill... VERY HAWT MAMA!!! OH BEHAVE BABY

If you wanna risk getting nosebleed or cardiac arrest, I suggest you grab your copy of 8 days asap, cos that's all the pics I'm gonna show you.
And Edison Chen, you oughta be ashamed of yourself for the huge mess you've gotten yourself into!! Not just you, but the 'co-stars' in your videos, and the one who 'helped' distribute the pictures all around the WWW!! As far as I know, your bright future is already starting to go into ruins... I feel bad for you and the gals (esp the one who exposed her 'bush' for everyone to see) >:-(

Seeing my Dad off...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Paris Hilton and Kelvin Lim ZX

The lunch outing after church service yesterday was not enjoyable at all. To think I had wasted 2 hours waiting for my parents to finish with the Breakfast counter... then I followed them and a few more church friends to some HK Street restaurant. Food was ok, but did little to ease my boredom. So I went out and took bus home, feeling a little grumpy and pissed, and thats all I gotta say. Didnt help either that my digicam had suffered some 'injuries' earlier on (more on that later). :-/ Internet time from 2 to 3.45 pm, before the three of us (me, Dad and Mum) headed downstairs to be given a lift to Changi Airport by Uncle Roland. Seems like there were lotsa people going to Darwin... judging by the long queue at the Budget Terminal :-O

We had a drink by the cafe located within the Budget Terminal, and then by 5.15 pm, Dad went into the departure hall. He would be going back to Thailand to continue his missionary work. After Dad checked inside, Mum and I took the free shuttle bus to Terminal 2... she headed to T1, while I took a separate Skytram to T3 (my first time going there).

T3 doesnt seem much different from T1 or T2, that's all I can say. The environment looks almost the same, maybe bigger by a bit.

After 30 minutes of recce around, I took a Skytram to T1, had my dinner there, and then took a bus back home. One I was back home, I watched a rather lame but funny film titled "Around The World In 80 Days", which had very little reference to the original story by Jules Verne!!! I mean, since when did the 'Frenchman' Passepartout become a Chinese martial artist known as Lau Xing??? And played by Jackie Chan some more... AWWW COME ON!!!
