Trip to Science Centre, and Comex Fair

Happy Birthday to Li-Lin, Yih Charng and Rong Ming

Yesterday, I went to the Science Centre, and ended up going around for about 2 hours. And I took quite a lot of photos there. But myself being a 'merciful' guy, I will be uploading pictures of the dinosaurs here. Surely those who watched "Power Rangers Dino Thunder" will be able to identify with the different classes of dinosaurs. ;-)

Here are the different types of dinosaurs as seen in the Dinosaur Alive exhibition...

Tyrannosaurus Rex, the king of meat-eaters

Baryonyx, a crocodile-lookalike

Parasaurolophus, a Hadrosaur (duck-billed reptile with curved crest across cranium)

Stegosaurus, largest of the Stegosaurids

Allosaurus, a carnosaur from the Jurassic period

Dilophosaurus, a slender carnivore with crests on head, from Jurassic period

Amargasaurus, a prosauropod from the Triassic period

Apatosaurus, a sauropod from the Jurassic period, also known as Brontosaurus

Triceratops, a prehistoric 'rhino' from the Cretaceous period

I am a little dismayed that there is no Ankylosaurus or Pachycephalosaurus, among a few other species. But oh well, I guess it's due to tight budget... at least they featured some of the better-known carnosaurs. :-)

Having 'survived' the ordeal with the carnosaurs (most particularly the T-Rex), I went to settle my dinner at Jurong Entertainment Centre, then took a train to City Hall. Once there, I was taken aback by the overwhelming crowd at City Link Mall. I actually saw a very familiar-looking girl (a former actress) along the way, but I had to skip the chance to say hi due to the human traffic. Why should I when she's not even a very popular one? (hint: she's a certain Miss Lee, and had appeared in a box office bomb)

Still, the human traffic went all the way from City Hall to Suntec City. In fact, all the levels of the Convention Center was full packed with people, due to an ongoing Comex Fair. You know, a fair showcasing all kinds of hi-tech stuff, like PlayStations, X-Boxes, computers, printers, MP3 players, etc. A bit like Tukcom.com if you ask me.

Here are some of the booths at the place. The rest of the NATurals came at abt 7 pm.

My main purpose of going there was to see Nat Ho, at the Audio Technica booth that is. Most of the time, I was checking out the different types of headsets and listening to either Eagles songs or Michael Jackson songs (hoo hoo!!). All of us Naturals got to take picture with him. He stayed on from 1915 to 2045 hrs, and indeed more people started to recognize him along the way. A sign of good things to come, I must say. Ok, I'll let the photos do the 'talking'. :-)
I think this is the 15th time I took picture with Nat? Not counting group photos...

Whew... finally managed to finish this before 11 pm. Looks like i gotta go for the Air Force Open House!!

MJ turns 50 today!!

Happy Birthday to Michael Jackson, Chen Hanwei and Andrea Fonseka

Hoo hoo, the King of Pop turns 50 today!! I am really proud to be a fan of Michael Joseph Jackson for nearly my whole life. I remember the first time I saw him in the Thriller music video in a TV store at the age of 5, that's when I got attracted to his dance moves. And yeah, it was really good for a family friend to offer me a Moonwalker video tape as a Christmas present, that further cemented my status as an MJ fanatic. So far I got most of his albums and DVDs, the most recent album being "Thriller: 25th Anniversary Special". And although he's contracted vitiligo and had been plagued by molestation rumors and face reconstruction in recent years, he still remains one of the greatest entertainers of all time, since his humble beginning as a member of the Jackson 5. Even now, I still listen to MJ's tracks every now and then... these are what I call essential classics. :-)
This is the list of MJ-related stuff I have...
- MJ Bad album (casette tape)
- MJ Dangerous album (casette tape)
- MJ Dangerous Short Films (VCD)
- MJ HIStory Volume 1 and 2 (casette tapes)
- MJ HIStory In Film music videos (VCD)
- MJ Blood On The Dance Floor album (audio CD)
- MJ Invincible album (audio CD)
- MJ Number Ones compilation (audio CD)
- Michael Jackson Moonwalker (DVD)
- MJ Number Ones music videos (DVD)
- The Essential Michael Jackson compilation (audio CD x 2)
- MJ Thriller 25th Anniversary Release (audio CD + DVD)

And now, I dedicate this song to all those youngsters or adults who love Michael Jackson, and specially to Miss JP. I have dedicated 2 more MJ songs to 2 other Princesses, so watch out for them. HEE HEE HEE!! :-)

YOU ROCK MY WORLD- Michael Jackson

My life will never be the same
‘Cause girl, you came and changed
The way I walk, the way I talk
I cannot explain the things I feel for you
But girl, you know it’s true
Stay with me, fulfill my dreams
And I’ll be all you’ll need

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh, it feels so right (Girl)
I’ve searched for the perfect love all my life (All my life)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, ooh, it feels like I (Like I)
Have finally found her perfect love is mine
(See, I finally found, come on, girl)

You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine

In time I knew that love would bring
This happiness to me
I tried to keep my sanity
I waited patiently, girl you know it seems
My life is fully complete
Our love is true because of you
You’re doin’ what you do
Oh, oh, oh, oh, who’d think that I (Oh)
Have finally found the perfect love I searched for all my life
(Searched for all my life)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, who’d think I’d find (Whoa...oh...oh...)
Such a perfect love that’s so right (Whoa, girl)

(Repeat Chorus twice)
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine

Girl, I know that this is love
I felt the magic all in the air
And girl, I’ll never get enough
That’s why I always have to have you here, hoo!

Repeat CHORUS 3 times
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine

(You rocked my world)
You rocked my world, you know you did
(The way you talk to me, the way you’re lovin’ me)
(The way you give it to me)
You rocked my world, you know you did (Give it to me)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah...yeah...ooh)
You rocked my world, you know you did
(You rocked my world, you rocked my world)
(Come on, girl)

You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine
You rocked my world, you know you did
And everything I’m gonna give
The rarest love who'd think I'd find
Someone like you to call mine

Watching WALL-E :-)

Happy Birthday to Hongkeng and Nora

Today I went to good ol' Vivo City, not only to have lunch at Superdog, but also watch the movie I've been waiting to watch all this while... "WALL-E"!! :-)

Seriously, this film is a must-watch for people of all ages, definitely worth the ticket price. A light-hearted film of 3D wonder, with an easy-to-follow plot. The robots who stole the limelight have gotta be WALL-E, EVE and the cleanliness-obsessed M-O. the film really takes off right after WALL-E ditches his boring life in a barren Earth by hitching a ride aboard EVE's mothership, into outer space and to the Axiom spacecraft.

But on another note, it's kinda sad to see the humans in the Axiom spacecraft being so obese and lazy, they rely heavily on the transport chairs, and have apparently become ignorant about the Earth their ancestors had once inhabited some 700 years ago. Eventually, it was WALL-E's courage that makes Captain McCrea (who is just as fat as the other humans) come to his senses, and he makes it his mission to lead humans and machines alike to restore Earth's biosphere with a renewed sense of purpose .Visually astounding, lyrical yet profound, it is an original that pushes the final frontier of animation.

9.5 out of 10 points... do catch it while you can!! ;-)

More info on the film can be found here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WALL-E

The King's Colors

Happy Birthday to Julian Cheung, Phuong Vy (Vietnamese Idol) and Shu Lin (Platinum)

I was reading the June- August edition of "Our Daily Bread", when I saw a devotion page that caught my attention. The August 26th entry has got something to do with the King of Thailand... and also the King of Kings (no, not Triple H, you WWE fanatic!). Even though I'm not a Thai citizen, I do love and respect King Bhumibol, not due to the length of his reign (62 years and counting), but due to his many contributions to the country. So here goes...

In Thailand the people greatly love and admire King Bhumibol (Rama IX), who has led them for over 60 years. To display their respect to the king, the Thai citizens wear bright yellow shirts every Monday, because yellow is the official color of the king.

As we seek to live for our King, the Lord Jesus Christ, we should also show our colors of allegiance and appreciation for all He has done for us. But how? What are the "colors" that declare to the world that we serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

The night before His crucifixion, King Jesus told us what our "colors" should be when He said, "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35). His disciple John echoed this when he wrote, "Beloved, if God loved us, we also ought to love one another" (1 John 4:11).

When we display Christ's love for our fellow believers, it is more than just kindness or care. It is one of the most tangible ways we can show our love and devotion for the Savior.

As we interact with fellow Christ-followers, let's be sure to show our colors. That will honor our King before a watching world.

Our love for God shows in our love for others.

Some thoughts on Sunday's sermon, regarding faith

Happy Birthday to The Great Khali and Nick Shen

I realized that I haven't been putting in Bible devotion for some time liao. So here goes...

Rev Peter Koh's sermon a few days ago really held a lot of depth and meaning. Topic was on faith in action. Due to lack of notebook, I had to take down the pointers all around the sermon pamphlet, and I'm trying to rearrange the notes so they can make sense. So pardon me if the notes dont sound so logical...

Jesus is the key to the solutions to many of our problems. He can fill in the emptiness within us. We need to have the faith to put what we learnt and received in that action of preaching the Word. If only the non-believers knew that Jesus is the one who can heal them and change their hearts. Therefore we must trust God for miracles to happen within our neighborhood and community.

And yet we have to go through struggles along the way. This is not uncommon, for even the Biblical heroes have gone through struggles... eg. Abraham, Moses, David, Elijah, etc. The true test of belief and faith is to see what it takes to stop us from sharing the Word. Have we allowed knowledge to rob us of the faith that is within us?

Nevertheless, we should never allow trouble to discourage us from spreading the Word of God, and we should never give up. For we are blessed not because of intelligence or strength, but because of faith.

Rev Koh issued this challenge to us... is your faith seen or hidden from the Lord? (read Mark 2:1-12)

For me personally... I would really want to let go of my hatred towards a certain someone. But since he is so unrepentant and continues to live in denial by falling in love with the desires of the world, I have decided not to be lenient with him. In fact, I don't think I'm gonna bother about him any longer. Indeed I should focus on the positive and share the Word with the ones I love, and not mingle with the rotten people who can cause great harm. But then again, God loves sinners, and even drug addicts, gangsters and the like turn over a new leaf, some of them even becoming pastors. Surely that someone (who has an extremely rotten soul) deserves a second chance, should he realize his own human flaws? I can never be too sure on that... i can only feel bad for such an arrogant, attention-seeking soul such as he. :-/

My entire family rejoiced when my aunt (who's currently in her 80s) accepted God into her life some 5 years ago, after living most of her life as a Taoist. But as I thought about this, I also thought of another fact... 7 years ago, my 'first' grandma (or A-Ma) died at the ripe age of 101, without ever knowing the Lord, mostly due to senile dementia and her own stubbornness. Ditto to my natural grandma who passed away nearly 2 decades ago, and my grandpa, who died way back when my mum had barely started schooling. In accordance to A-Ma, what's the use of having a long life when you don't even want to accept Jesus into your life?

It's more on freedom of choice... we can choose to let God into our hearts, or we can continue to dwell deeper into darkness and lose our souls to the Devil.

Movies to watch out for this week...

Happy Birthday to Jeff Hardy, Benjamin Heng and Ryan

Yesterday was the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. 4 years from now, the Olympics will be held in London, capital of Britain. At least the designers improvised on the logo that had received much criticism in the past few years. I was watching this amazing event with my family and relatives at Teck's house last night. This is truly an Olympic year that we will remember... esp when Team Singapore brought back some silver from the table tennis groups finals. Also cheerios to the 8-time gold medallist Michael Phelps. :-)

This week, 2 films are gonna debut in cinemas islandwide, and I will try to watch at least one of them... Wall-E or Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Maybe I'll watch Wall-E first, because I have been waiting for it since the trailers came out, and I think that Wall-E, EVE and MO are really adorable! And besides, I already know what happens after the Clone Wars according to the Star Wars Universe timeline. I mean the aftermath of the Clone Wars is kinda obvious right? All the Star Wars fans know the true identity of Darth Sidious, and that Anakin becomes Darth Vader at the end of the Clone Wars, and that Order 66 will be initiated onto all the clone troopers. Not to forget the demis of Padme Amidala, the birth of Luke and Leia, etc.

I dedicate this song specially to Miss Ang, Miss Chin, Miss Peh, Miss Liu and Miss Yeoh... Nat Ho sang this at the Esplanade Park on his birthday 2 nights ago. I hope you like this song too!! ;-)

THIS LOVE- Maroon 5

I was so high I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye and she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart

This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
Whoaa... whoaa... whoaaaa

I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied
Kept playing love like it was just a game
Pretending to feel the same
Then turn around and leave again

This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
Whoaa... whoaa... whoaaaa

I'll fix these broken things
Repair your broken wings
And make sure everything's alright
My pressure on your hips
Sinking my fingertips
Into every inch of you
Cause I know that's what you want me to do

This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And my heart is breaking in front of me
She said Goodbye too many times before
This love has taken its toll on me
She said Goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore...
