Reason behind recent Friendster screw-up

Now we know what happened to Friendster. Can understand the situation liao... so no hard feelings towards the system. For the people whose Friendster lists have been affected, don't need to worry. Here are some FAQs to help address your concerns:

What happened to my friends?
Currently, the number of friends in the friends list is being displayed incorrectly.

Are my friends lost permanently?
No. The data for all friend connections is still intact and is therefore not lost.

When can this be fixed?
Friendster is currently working on this problem and we hope to have this fixed within 24 hours.

Can I still add friends while the problem has not yet been fixed?
Yes, users can still add new friends and use other features of the site.

What caused this problem?
There was a building-wide power outage at the QTS / Globix data center in Sunnyvale, California, USA where Friendster’s servers are co-located, along with about 50 other customers. As a result, the memory caching of data was affected. Since Friendster has 85 million users, the cache is taking a considerable amount of time to build. Once the cache has been completely built, all friends will re-appear.

So yeah, no hard feelings at all... but to be honest, I prefer Facebook nowadays, checking my FB account on a daily basis, and my FS account abt 3 days a week. Hopefully the main center for Facebook doesn't experience a similar encounter anytime soon... and er, I don't have MySpace account at all.

More evidence on an abomination's character

I know I shouldn't be doing this, but I feel I have to get this heavy load off my chest and express my thoughts on Mr Kiam Pa once more.

I really feel that this MKP is really too full of himself!! Fancy him being the only one to make those stupid, meaningless act-cute poses when celebrating his grandfather's birthday with the rest of his family... even the young kid on the right knows how to behave herself!! I won't be surprised if the grandfather is finding it a real hassle to have Sean sit next to him and make those tasteless gestures...

If these few pics aren't proof of his despicable, attention-seeking, arrogant personality, then I don't know what is. Do invert colors to see the actual look of the pics.

Brother of MKP: This is (extremely) embarrassing...
Lady on right: I (strongly) agree!

Man on 4th from left: Hello boy, mai hao lian can or not?? Even the baby knows how to behave... how about you?? You should be ashamed of yourself!!

Ah Gong: What exactly have I done to deserve this?? Fancy having such a moron as my grandson... help me!!
Lady on right: Yep, it's true... he really sucks!

So what if MKP 'loves himself too much'??? He would never learn how to be humble, he will never learn to speak good English, and he will forever be indulging in activities that are displeasing to God... I feel he is an embarassment to his brother (whose full name I also know), his parents, his grandparents, his relatives, his clique of friends, and last but not least, to everyone in general!! I had never made act-cute postures when taking pictures with my relatives (save for the ones taken at Sentosa), and never will. Unforgivable!!

And here's another one to prove on Sean Koh's increasing insanity and inability to resist temptation... in a manner similar to Smeagol/Gollum
Aiyo! Sean ah, you ALWAYS don't know how to control yourself leh! You bloody spendthrift! Spend money like water is it? Only know how to spent money only! Forgive me lah, sometimes its really difficult to control lah! Economic not good so don't anyhow spend money!!!!!Yes, i have been hearing this for many times!!!!! Okay enough of lecturing ah!

Three words to summarize his mindset... SHENG. JING. BING.

I am deliberately creating this entry (without any apologies whatsoever) not to gain attention, but to prove my point that idiots like Mr Koh TS (whom I have a fucking problem with) must be dealt with SEVERELY!!! And yes, I want to see his reaction when he sees this entry... I am not scared of him at all. I hate MKP for who he is and what he does, and that's the bottom line!! It's a huge shame that such people actually exist...

So Mr Kiam Pa, if you want some, THEN COME GET SOME!!!

Recce around Bookfest

Happy Birthday to Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liao Zhiwei and Lucinda

Morning service as usual, something to do with going through struggles and resisting the temptations of the world. Then Mother, Bro and I chatted with some church friends for a while before heading to Heartland Mall to have our lunch. I went up to buy a Cyber Sunday disc, and happened to bump into Grace Tye, who was gonna meet a few friends at the same place.

Then I went to Suntec Convention Center via train and bus... entering the Bookfest for the first time. It was there that I saw Nick Shen play host for the activities there, flying like Superman during a storytelling session and going around asking questions linked to theme songs to cartoons. There was also a magic performance by a local magician named Kiki Tan, and an autograph session by celebrity cartoonist Eistein Kristiansen. Not only were there Doraemon comics selling at cheap prices, there was also an astonishing range of Marvel comics at the English book section! Ok, looks like I'll have to scrap my plans of 'publicizing' my own creation then... but I'll definitely be coming back to Popular Bookfest for a few more times. ;-)

After some time, I decided to take a bus back home, and it was at home that I did the usual Net sessions, watch the Fantastic Four film on TV and Cyber Sunday in the PC rom-drive. I don't think I'm gonna upload any pictures taken earlier... esp since I sense a 'disturbance in the Force' in regards to what may transpire come Sat or Sun... :-/

Hunting for more PSP games

Happy Birthday to Jessica and Geraldine

Being unable to find anything else to do, I decide to go to Yishun to meet up with Roiswandi, an army friend whom I had not seen for more than a year ever since watching Spider-Man 3. Our main purpose was to look for first-hand/second-hand PSP games at Yishun Central... we didn't actually buy anything, just pondering on which games are worth saving money for. Then we had lunch at Yishun Cineplex region, and it wasthere that I explained to Wandi on the cheat codes for Marvel: Ulitmate Alliance game. After lunch, we headed to a video arcade to watch some guy play on the drum machine, and also ogle at pretty babes in shorts. We were surprised to see a new section of Northpoint, which had a library at the top level and many other new regions never before seen.

We then went our separate ways at 3.30 pm, with me taking a train to good ol' Orchard. I recce-ed around Paragon for a while before going to Plaza Singapura to collect a pair of pants, then ordered a takeaway dinner for myself and Brother from Carl's Junior. My eyesight seemed to be worsening from all that ogling at sexy babes too often... hope it doesn't get any worse when I go for a certain event next Saturday.

Oh, and can I just say that Friendster is damn screwed up??? Deleting more than 600 names from my 4-yr-old friend list!!! And many people's accounts also got affected!! I am so frigging PISSED, prob more so than with Mr Kiam Pa. I hope there is a good explanation behind this... :-/

Pot calling the kettle black!!

You people may be aware that I absolutely detest attention seekers, desperate losers and traffic-minded bloggers, and how much they disgust me. Well guess what, that abominable Mr Kiam Pa has just slammed the infamous Steven Lim aka the Yellow Trunks Stripper in one of his latest entries, when in actual fact they are similar in almost every way!!! Pot calling the kettle black indeed!!

MKP: Hey guys! If you are aware of this issue, you should know that Steven Lim the PROMINENT joker who always love to create loads of nonsense for attention seeking.
Hahaha MKP, you failed to realize that YOU yourself also love to create loads of nonsense for the sake of attention seeking!! Something that I am very strongly against!!!

Now i will describe the joke.Today, I was told by someone that he actually went to announce at his blog that he wanted to get a girlfriend. Or he mention that he will pay a large amount of money to get a girlfriend. This was when 98.7FM DJs went to make a phone call to him ON AIR! The female DJ acted as a girl who is interested in him and the male DJ acted as her boyfriend. The male DJ asked Steven "why did you want to snatch my girlfriend" and say 'who's **** is the BIGGEST' yours or mine. Then he said ' i don't have'. After sometime, he hang up the phone. The DJ then said that he is a LOSER!!!!! LOLLLLL!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS! How on earth can the DJ make a phone call to him and say such things????? BUT i think he deserve every single bit of it yah? The DJ must have hated him to the max for them to do such thing! =)
Will you please stop using that damn word LOLLLL and so many exclaimation marks cos that irritates me greatly and makes me wanna kill you!!! And I hate you as much as the DJ hates Steven Lim!!!

Sorry, i don't like him too. I saw him everywhere seeking attention but i choose not to give him any. =)
Excuse me Mr Koh, what do you mean by that??? Aren't you doing the exact same thing too??? You know damn well that I don't like you either... matter of fact, I HATE YOU AND WISH YOU WOULD GET YOUR RETRIBUTION SOON!!!

Speaking about Steven Lim, I feel that he is the perfect epitome to the saying "a leopard never changes its spots". I already suspected that he will revert back to his old ways after taking part in the "Never Say Die" competition.

Of all the 8 finalists for that show, he's the only one who had auditioned for nearly every talent show... be it Star Search 2003, Singapore Idol season 1 (the show which propelled him to notoriety), Project Superstar season 1, Star Idol, etc. To be brutally honest, I was actually gloating with delight when Steven cried in front of national TV during an episode for "Never Say Die"!! The other 7 finalists tried so hard to help him, and yet he refuses to do anything about it!!

Knowing too well that he is already too old to enrol into showbiz, Steven now resorts to making all those disturbing and tasteless Youtube videos??? It's a tragedy to know after 4 years after his first public appearance in Singapore Idol season 1, Steven is still the same disturbing, desperate, atrocious and sickening jabroni we all love to hate. Why aren't the IMH personnel doing anything about it??? He really very 'throw away face' one!! :-@

I guess it's not wise to put Steven and Sean Koh's in the same faction for the WWE game, seeing how much they hate each other. Biggest difference is, Steven has got a diploma and a real job (eyebrow plucking)... as for MKP, he does not have a proper one for months (his stint as calefare does not count!!!), and he didn't even do well for his O levels!!! (and I make no apologies on dissing Steven whatsoever... next time I see him, I will tell him that "if he wants some, he can COME GET SOME!!!")

And one more more thing, Sean Koh TS...
SCREW YOU FOR SPEAKING BAD ABOUT OTHERS (myself included)!!! What's wrong with older people chasing after artistes??? At least the majority of those 'fans much older than you' are nowhere as obsessed or childish or despicable as YOU!!! Let me ask something, BROTHER... whatcha gonna do when reality kicks you in the face???

Random news reports for the week

Sad and unexplainable things do happen... take these for example.

An apparently disturbed worker was mauled to death by three tigers at the Singapore Zoo on Thursday when he deliberately jumped into their enclosure, the zoo said. The white tigers pounced on the 32-year-old contract cleaner after he jumped into the moat surrounding their enclosure and then moved toward the animals, the zoo said in a statement.
The zoo, one of Singapore's most prominent tourist attractions, described the victim as "apparently disturbed and agitated".
Fellow workers reported that he "was acting a little bit erratic and odd, throwing papers around" before the incident, assistant director of zoology Biswajit Guha told Singapore's 938Live radio.
Guha said the cleaner worked at the chimpanzee area and was on his lunch break when the tragedy occurred. "Goodbye, I won't be seeing you again," Guha quoted the victim as telling one of the zookeepers. "And they saw him riding off on a bicycle and coming back in through the front entrance again, and then about five minutes later, the whole alert came on the walkie talkie," he said.
Horrified visitors screamed as zookeepers rushed into the tiger enclosure to try to rescue the victim. They threw rocks to try to distract the animals, which dragged their victim toward a passageway, said Guha. Zoo workers finally succeeded in luring the tigers away from the man and confining them to their pens, but paramedics later pronounced him dead.

Sigh, this is truly saddening... people going depressed and ending their own lives all of a sudden. And this guy chose to end his life by allowing himself to be mauled by the only white tigers in Singapore. Very strange and frightening way to die. Could have been worse if he had encountered alligators or sharks...

And here's another one...
A teenage boy who many believe is the reincarnation of Buddha has re-emerged from the jungle in southern Nepal, attracting thousands of devotees, officials said Tuesday.
After retreating into the jungle for more than a year, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, 18, re-emerged Monday near Nijgadh town, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of the capital, Katmandu.
Upon hearing the news, thousands of Bamjan's followers, some from as far away as India, traveled to the site Tuesday to see him, police official Abhaya Joshi said by telephone.
There has been no formal declaration by Buddhist authorities that Bamjan is the reincarnation of the Buddha. But people have worshipped the teenager since he was first seen in 2005 meditating in the jungle, where he sat for months, motionless with his eyes closed among the roots of a tree.
Joshi said Bamjan plans to talk to his followers for a few hours every day for a week before returning to the jungle to meditate. The long-haired Bamjan, dressed in a white cloth, appeared to be in good health as he spoke to his followers about peace and ending discrimination, according to the Rajdhani newspaper.
"It was an amazing experience to hear and see him. I have no doubt now he is the reincarnation of Buddha," said Sangeeta Lama, a woman who met Bamjan for the first time.
Buddhist priests have been divided on whether the boy is truly the reincarnation of Siddhartha Gautama, who was born in southwestern Nepal around 500 B.C. and later became revered as the Buddha, which means Enlightened One.
Buddhists strongly believe in reincarnation, the doctrine that every soul reappears after death in another bodily form.
Min Bahadur Shakya of the Nagarjuna Institute of Exact Methods in Katmandu said Buddhist priests have not reached a conclusion about Bamjan because they have not been able to fully investigate the boy. "Meditating without food does not prove that he is reincarnation of Buddha. There is much study needed to be done," Shakya said.
Buddhism is practiced by about 325 million followers, mostly in Asia.

I find this truly odd and puzzling. A reincarnation of Buddha??? How can that be!!! I mean, I know that Siddharta Gautama Buddha is believed to be an avatar of the god Vishnu, but how is it even possible for Buddha to be reincarnated when he had already entered enlightenment?? Isn't Nirvana meant to be a release from the bhavachakra, Saṃsāra, karma and rebirth as well as the dissolution of all worldly physical and mental aggregates or skandhas? :-/

Indeed the affairs of this world are going out of control...

Thoughts on upcoming concerts

Happy Birthday to
Today: Lena Yada, Amirul
Tomorrow: Daphne Yeo, Rina
(Man, it must really suck for Lena to be released from the WWE before her birthday)

Rihanna will be performing for the very first time in Singapore tomorrow. Although I kinda like Rihanna, I'm going to give it a miss and rely on Youtube video uploads on the concert. I'm only familiar with about 5 or 6 of her songs, and I'm not really into staying out so late at night. And another thing is, I can't go for Kylie Minogue's concert on the 25th due to WIN night projection duty (not that I'm interested in going in first place). And I'm definitely not going for the World Aids concert at Fort Canning Park on the 29th, lest I bump into my worst enemy (yes, Mr Kiam Pa!!) who is still highly obsessed over his fave local singer as always... leave you to guess which one I'm talkiing about (hint: the singer's Chinese name is similar to a swallow, looks as light as a feather, and she's got over 10 albums!!).

This song goes out to those who are gonna watch the Rihanna concert, as well as to the names of those whose birthdays are mentioned at the first paragraph of this entry ;-)

Umbrella- Rihanna
Uh huh, uh huh. Chyeah.
Rihanna. Good girl gone bad.
Take three. Action. Hov.

No clouds in my storms, let it rain
I had this glame in a fame
Coming down to the Dow Jones
When the clouds come we gone
We rock-a-fella, we fly higher than weather
and G 5's are better.
You know me, an anticipation,
For precipitation, back chicks in the rainy day.
Jayy. Rain man is back, with little miss sunshine,
Rihanna where you at?

You had my heart
And we'll never be worlds apart
They be in magazines
But you'll still be my star
Baby, cause in the dark
You can see shiny cars
And that's when you need me there
With you I'll always share.
Because…

[Chorus]
When the sun shines, we'll shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be a friend
Took an oath, Ima stick it out till the end
Now it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
Ella, ella, ey, ey, ey.
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, ey, ey, ey.
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, ey, ey, ey.
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, ey, ey, ey, ey, ey.

These funky things
Will never come in between
You're part of my entity
If for infinity
When the world has took us part
When the world has done its cause
If the hand is hard
Together we'll mend your heart
Because…

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
You can run into my arms.
It's okay, don't be alarmed
Come in to me
There's no distance in between our love
So gon' and let the rain pour
I'll be all you need and more...
Because

[Chorus]

[Outro]
It's raining raining
Oooh baby, it's raining raining
Baby come in to me, come in to me
It's raining raining
Oooh baby, it's raining raining
You can always come in to me, come in to me

Carrot Cake premiere at Vivo :-)

Happy Birthday to Calvin Khoo, Amanda Han and Renee
Gong Li has become a Singaporean citizen??? :-O

Firstly, I met up with Naomi at Harborfront MRT station at half past 6, then we went up to the Golden Village cinema at VivoCity...to watch "The Carrot Cake Conversations". The movie started a bit late due to commercials and movie trailers. I wasn't having very high expectations on the film, given the fact that it had gotten less-than-average reviews from 8 days, TODAY newspaper, Yahoo Movies, etc. It didn't help either that the cinema was barely half-full. Ok, I admit it was kinda dull and not-so-happening, but it does prove a point that sometimes we need to take a break from our daily activities, sit down to do some self-reflections and take the initiative to change our own perspectives towards life. Decent effort from the director though. There were a few funny moments, mostly from Alaric Tay who plays an oil trader whose 2nd wife cheated on him. The rather cliche ending bascially left me and a few others going, "Huh?". I rate the film 6 out of 10 stars... acting is good, but plot a bit too jarring, and the pace seemed a bit slow (thank goodness I didn't fall asleep). Given the fact that all 4 main leads were seen smoking, I thought it would be good if the movie were titled "The Smoking Squad Conversations"... WHOOPS!! :-X

As the end credits started rolling at abt 8.50 pm, the lights turned on and the director Michael Wang went to the front portion of the cinema, followed by the gorgeous Andrea Fonseka and the funnyman Alaric Tay (better known as Andre Chichak from "The Noose"). The questions asked were rather short and simple. One of the theater actors who was present asked a lot of questions that kinda left my mind too numb to ask any new questions. Andrea sounded cute speaking in Singlish! :-)

The session was done by 9.15 pm, and once outside the cinema Naomi and myself took picture with the beautiful Andrea, and got her autograph as well. As soon as we left the cinema, we went our separate ways... myself feeling so delighted that I kinda lost some sleep. :-p

More info on the film can be found here... http://carrotcakeconversations.com/main.html

Watching a few movies at one go

Happy Birthday to Tay Ping Hui, Katie Lea Burchill and Cheryl

During these 2 days of inactivity from Internet connection, I watched a few movies, mostly at home.

Saturday, 8th Nov
The only movie which I watched in a cinema was "Quantum of Solace", the first direct sequel to a preceding Bond film (namely Casino Royale). Quite good show to watch with all that action and explosion... but storyline a bit too cheem for me to understand. Still I got to admit that Daniel Craig is perhaps the most badass, hardcore and ruthless James Bond ever, making no apologies for the number of people he had killed throughout the 2 films. I rate it 8 out of 10, quite worth the watch for fans or non-fans of James Bond alike.

I then joined Mother and Tris for dinner, and back home I watched a bit of WWE Raw on Super Sports, followed by "Disturbia" from 9 to 10.30 pm on HBO... starring Shia LaBeouf, David Morse and Carrie-Ann Moss. Then I watched "Lost in Space" on Channel 5, starring William Hurt, Gary Oldman, Mimi Rogers, Matt LeBlanc and Heather Graham.

Sunday, 9th Nov (yesterday)
As per the 3-week basis, I did camera duty for morning service. Sermon had gotta do with verses from Isaiah and a few verses from the Gospel of John. I couldn't join Tris to donate blood for the second time due to a running nose I had gotten in the morning (just my luck, grrr). But I did donate a few clothes to the church committee. Mother, Tris and myself had lunch at Heartland Mall, then basically slacked at home. Can I say that I'm rather dismayed by the fact that the WWE Cyber Sunday 2008 VCDs had yet to hit the shelves?? :-/

Anyway from 1 to 2.45 pm, I watched "Kangaroo Jack" (quite funny, but serious lack of focus on the kangaroo), and from 7.45 to 9.30 pm, I watched "Madagascar", both movies I watched on Channel 5. I think I gotta watch "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" when it hits the cinemas in a few weeks' time ;-)

And tonight, I'm going for a Carrot Cake Conversations premiere at Vivo City!! Can't wait to see Andrea Fonseka once again... thanks a lot for helping me get tickets, Naomi :-)
