Appearances at Nanyang Poly Open House

Happy Birthday to Todd Grisham, Teck Song and Felicia Sun

It was a great success!! I managed to take pic with all 4 artistes involved at the Nanyang Poly Open House earlier today!! :-D

To start off the day, I left the house rather early, reaching Ang Mo Kio station at abt 1040 hrs to meet up with Naomi. We then took MRT to Yio Chu Kang to meet up with Ryan and Grace... then we made out way to Nanyang Poly. I 'nearly didn't make it' inside due to the number of hawt babes i saw along the way... blame it on my 'buayaness', WHOOPS!!! :-X

The happenings took place at the mainstage region located in the midst of Block A. It's been abt 6 years since I last stepped within the premises of the place... check out the various course categories depicted in the banners...

From 11 plus to 12.40 pm, there were various dance segments going on... the hip-hop dance esemble consisting of about 30 to 40 individuals was rather maddening. The ones with the Japanese themed dancers was kinda catchy.

Ok, I'll skip to the important part... at 1250 hrs, Class 95 DJ Jean Danker came out to host some segment on "Don't Forget The Lyrics". Apparently, the game was meant for the poly students to participate. Songs covered were Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop The Music", Jason Mraz' "I'm Yours" and another hip-hop song I'm not so familiar with. This rendition of DFTL is actually a radio version, but it wasn't very interesting due to lack of visuals; it relied more on mulitple choice, identical to the SMS contest.

Soon after, came the first celeb guest... Alaric Tay better known as Andre Chichak from "The Noose". He talks about his role in an upcoming sitcom titled "Serves You Right" that stars him and Fiona, among a few other artistes. The show will debut on January 27th at 8 pm.

Then came Julian, Tracy and Celest!! They talk about their roles in Channel 5's first ever long-running drama series, "Red Thread". It debuts on 7th April at 8 pm, and will be shown every Tuesday to Thursday.

After some Q n A session, the cast gave some last words before leaving the place.

Then me and Naomi went to the back of the stage region to take pic with the tall and beautiful Celest... it was our very first time seeing her in person. :-)

After that, we headed to the foyer region at the entrance of the campus center to take pic with the others. Julian, Tracy and finally Alaric. Tracy was equally delighted to see me again ever since the last day of Calefare. :-)

Missions accomplished!! After we bade farewell to the 4 of them, the 4 of us (TGRN) went our separate ways.

I decided to give the Ngee Ann Poly Open House a miss, opting to go to Northpoint for a bit of recce. Then I took a bus home and nearly got nosebleed due to a pretty and hawt babe in the bus. This had happened way too often, usually on my way back home from work.

There is still hope after all... WOOOOOO

Happy Birthday to Adrian Pang and Goh Tze Mian

Heh, looks like I seemed to have over-reacted a little in regards to not taking leave for today in advance and missing out the appearances at SP Open House... cos last night I found out that I will still get to see Tracy... at Nanyang Poly at 12 plus TOMORROW!!! WOO HOO!!! Lucky I applied for leave in advance!!! YES, I can't miss out on this!!! :-D

Taken from Nanyang Poly Open House site...
Didn't make it to the studio game? Well, come and test how well you know your pop songs at a special edition of 'Don't Forget the Lyrics!' hosted by Jean Danker. Play games and interact with the cast of 'Red Thread', Channel 5's new long-running drama premiering in Mar 2009, including Celeste Chong, Julian Hee and Tracy Tan.

Not just Tracy, but also Julian and Celest... triple happiness!!! (does the Ric Flair strut) WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :-o

Still contemplating if I should go to Ngee Ann Poly after that... maybe I should. Forgive me if I sounded a little high or eccentric... :-X

I realized I hadn't been putting any song dedication for some time already... so here's one to the aforementioned people... :-)

"Blood On the Dance Floor"- Michael Jackson

She got your number, she know your game
She put you under, it's so insane

Since you seduced her, how does it feel
To know that woman is out to kill

Every night stance is like takin' a chance
It's not about love and romance
And now you're gonna get it
Every hot man is out takin' a chance
It's not about love and romance
And now you do regret it

To escape the world I've got to enjoy that simple dance
And it seemed that everything was on my side (Blood on my side...)
She seemed sincere like it was love and true romance
And now she's out to get me
And I just can't take it, just can't break it (just can't take it)

Susie got your number and Susie ain't your friend
Look who took you under with seven inches in
Blood is on the dance floor, blood is on the knife
Susie's got your number, and Susie says its right

She got your number, how does it feel
To know this stranger is out to kill
She got your baby, it happened fast

If you could only erase the past

Every night stance is like takin a chance
It's not about love and romance
And now you're gonna get it
Every hot man is out takin' a chance
It's not about love and romance
And now you do regret it

To escape the world I got to enjoy this simple dance
And it seemed that everything was on my side (blood on my side...)
It seemed sincere like it was love and true romance
And now she's out to get me
And I just can't take it, just can't break it (just can't take it)

Susie got your number and Susie ain't your friend
Look who took you under with seven inches in
Blood is on the dance floor, blood is on the knife
Susie got your number, you know Susie says its right (Hoo hoo...)

Susie's got your number, Susie ain't your friend (it's going down baby)
Look who took you under, she put seven inches in
Blood is on the dance floor, blood is on the knife (it's going down baby)
Susie's got your number, ya know Susie says its right

It was blood on the dance floor (blood on the dance floor)
It was blood on the dance floor (blood on the dance floor)
It was blood on the dance floor (blood on the dance floor)
It was blood on the dance floor
And I just can't take it, the girl won't break it (just can't take it)
Hoo...!!

ARGHHHH... REGRET!!! :-(

Happy Birthday to Hong Huifang and Rayson Tan

I had a bad feeling about this... and I was right!! Tomorrow got some exciting appearances at the Singapore Poly Open House, and the worst part is, I am unable to make it!!! NOOOOOOO...!!! :-((((

Taken from the SP Open House minisite:
Meet the leading cast from Channel 5's newest shows!
Fiona Xie, lead actress in "Serves You Right"
Andie Chen, lead actor in "Fighting Spiders"
Tracy Tan, lead actress in "Red Thread"

ARGHHHHH, I can't go bcos I still have to work... or rather, I didn't apply for leave in advance!! Oh man, that goes my chance to see Tracy... I totally blew it, and I regret not applying for leave for tomorrow. I haven't seen her since Calefare ended abt 5 months ago. I know Tracy's not really one of my top faves like Felicia or Joanne, but still I miss her loads... :-(

As for Andie and Fiona, I had last seen them nearly 2 weeks ago... and I am gonna see Fiona at Suntec City in a few days' time...

Oh man, why can't the event be held on a Friday instead?? That will make things much easier and fairer since I will be on leave this Friday... man, how I hate myself for not being tactful enough.

Altogether now... NOOOOOOOOO!!! (ala Darth Vader towards the end of Star Wars Episode III)

Friday's events will feature Chew Sing Huey and Diya Tan performing at Ngee Ann Poly between 3 to 4 plus. I can't afford to miss this one!!

An indicator of sorts...?

Happy Birthday to Melvin Tay

I had a very strange dream last night... it involved some friends and some artistes as well (mostly female). We were all in a big hotel, when suddenly I felt a strange tingling sensation at the back of my head. I quickly alerted everyone to evacuate... and within a couple of minutes, the hotel exploded violently. Most of the people were safely outside... whereas for me, I sustained some burns and nearly couldnt breathe. I wasn't sure if there were any casualties... but I witnessed some of the luggage being burnt.

Could that be a replay of the nightclub explosion at Bangkok, or a mere indicator of what is to happen soon? I had a similar dream some 10 months ao, and somehow it turned out to be true to a certain extent. Maybe I've been watching too much TV, I can never know. I guess it's best I skip the event at Northpoint and stick to the 'main priorities', lest I stray to the 'international' zone and end up losing my breath. But Im still going for the event at Suntec at night. There are way too many events taking place this weekend, and I know I can't go for all of them at one time, and therefore have to choose...

"Little Nyonya" ends tonight :-(

Happy Birthday to Junhao

Little Nyonya... everyone's talking about it.

Yesterday's morning church service started on a very interesting note... Pastor Reuben asked everyone, "Does anyone out there know what is the significance of tomorrow (Monday)?" And some people replied, "The first Monday of the year 2009." And the pastor answered, "Oh no, not just that... it's the last 2 episodes of "Little Nyonya"!!" Haha, he really got us there... :-D

Anyway, back to the topic of "Little Nyonya". It's sad that the mega-drama is coming to an end tonight, but Im glad I followed the entire blockbuster series for the past 5 weeks or so. I have certainly no regrets watching the show, and I was certainly glad to have attended the roadshow at Compass Point a few weeks back (yes, the very one where the turnout was overwhelming with 5000 people!!).

The thing I don't quite get about the series is... the first few episodes focused on the Peranakan culture and cuisine, the pantum songs performed by Pierre Png I like the most. But as the series progressed, there seemed to be almost no focus on the Peranakan food, but instead there was heavy focus on adult-oriented scenes like adultery, murder, manipulation, greed and rape... as well as issues of sheer hatred directed at the scumbag-of-a-father-and-son-pair, Charlie and Robert Zhang.

In spite of all the criticism that "The Little Nyonya" had received (overpromotion, stereotyping, loopholes, inconsistencies, etc), nobody can deny the fact that it had become the most watched drama series in 15 years of Singapore TV history. It certainly helps that the cast did an excellent job. :-)
Truth be told, I have already watched the last 2 episodes of the show via Mob TV... but don't worry, I'm not gonna provide any spoilers here. So far the only people who were aware of the actual ending were my mum and a few friends who have also subscribed to Mob TV. Believe me, the ending is gonna have a bit of a twist... you have been warned. :-X

Now as the show is coming to an end... I am beginning to experience LNWS (Little Nyonya Withdrawal Syndrome), and trying my very best not to (esp since I got so much stuff to do these days). I believe nearly everyone I know will be feeling roughly the same way I am right now. :-(((

I've been through similar withdrawal syndromes way too many times... such as Singapore Idol withdrawal, U Are The One withdrawal, Honor and Passion withdrawal, Metamorphosis withdrawal, too many to mention really. Matter of fact, I don't think Im gonna watch the next 9 pm drama... would rather wait for "Dream Catchers" to debut in early February bah :-/

So remember... the last 2 episodes of "Little Nyonya" starts at 8 pm tonight!

Pics taken at Chinatown

Happy Birthday to Joan and Wanran

Oh man, today is the death anniversary of Jimmy Nah aka MC King. How quickly time flies indeed... he is still sorely missed to this day. :-(

Anyway, yesterday after the A-Go-Go Princess roadshow as mentioned earlier, I went to watch some rehearsal for Chinese New Year outdoor concert... couldn't get very good view since most of the performance took place at the far end of the road rather than at the sector where me and "JIVE" were standing. Took lots of pictures there... by 7 plus, the crowds increased greatly. Not wanting to be caught in the midst of a huge crowd like what happend at Compass Point last week, I decided to head back home.
