Love Matters gala premiere at VivoCity

On Tuesday night after knocking off from work, I went for the gala premiere of "Love Matters" at GV VivoCity.

The hosts for the event were Marcus Chin and a female DJ whose name I forgot.

The granny from "I Not Stupid 2", the quirky lau char bor and Yati (tha maid from "I Not Stupid 2").

3 pretty babes came forth next... the one in black jacket is none other than Chen Chuxuan, best known for playing Constance Song's daughter in "Love Blossoms". The baby-faced girl in floral dress (standing in between the gal in red dress and Chuxuan) is actually 20 years old!! :-O

Then came Michelle Tay and Sharon Koh, the latter is best known for playing Gurmit's younger sister in "80s Rewind". She will be taking over Margaret Lee's role as Lily in the upcoming season of "Police and Thief".

Next came Apple Hong and Brandon Wong. Brandon announced happily that his wife is carrying their first child.

Surprised to see Jeanette there?? She looks rather skinny, but still cute and pretty of course :-)

Next came veteran actor Richard Low.

I can't really remember what sector these 6 individuals are under, but I personally feel that the ladies are looking fine... :-)
Producer Jack Neo and director Gilbert Chan came next.
Rosalind Pho, Lai Ming and another pretty babe. Lai Ming was last seen as the mother of Henry, Jack and Mark in "Money No Enough 2".

Some artistes from Malaysia who appear in the film. Forgot their names, but the lady looks quite hot I feel. :-)

The young stars of the show. The mei nu named Natalie included of course (blushes).

Finally, the main leads of the show arrived... Henry Thia and Yeo Yann Yann.

The cast and crew gather for a group shot.

This is the gateway that the artistes walked through.
As seen in the upper level of GV VivoCity, where the cinemas are located.

More photos of the event can be found here... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=84555&id=556354026
We had dinner at the basement level, chillded out at Food Republic for a while, then headed to St James Power Station to meet up with Emilee, whom we had not seen for a long time. I was touched by the fact that Em remembered meeting me at Mos Burger in 2007.

After Em headed back inside for 2nd round of performance, we headed back to VivoCity, to see various artistes come down... Huang Biren, Brandon Wong, Apple Hong, Mark Lee, Rosalind Pho, etc. Nat and Jeanette never came out even at the stroke of midnight... so me and Ryan decided to head back home via taxi. I got back home to watch a bit of President Obama's Inauguration, then went to sleep.

Pre-recording for Carlsberg Golden Ox Special

Happy Birthday to Daphne Khoo

Yesterday I went for the pre-recording for the Carlsberg Golden Ox Year Special. Having applied for half-day leave a few weeks prior, I knocked off from work at 1 pm, had quick lunch and then went to Ang Mo Kio to take bus to MediaCorp. I had a sandwish from Subway for super early dinner. The Jolliteers and Naturals were among the earliest to reach the parking lot between 4 to 5 pm. The queue increased a little within the next few minutes... response was not as good as I thought, but then that's only because the pre-recording took place on a weekday.

This is the admission ticket for the pre-recording. We were allowed to get in the upper gallery of the theater at abt 1830 hrs. Fanclubs present were Naturals, Jolliteers, Felicians, Yuwu Paradise, Fann Fanatics, Daren Tan fc and some unofficial supporters.

The stage setting as taken from the upper gallery of the theater. If I have to be honest about one thing, I was very close to turning into Venom cause there was a leggy babe sitting directly behind me at that time... who ask her to wear rather indecently? Then again, I saw a few more young girls looking equally hot with super short pants. Somebody gouge my eyes out man... :-X

At around 1930 hrs, the ticketing personnel came forth and told everyone to go down to the lower gallery. Hooray, no need to 'suffer' upstairs!! :-D This could be due to the fact that the turnout at the lower gallery was much lesser then expected. But since the front portion was filled up with people, we had to sit at the slightly higher seating region. Many of the older patrons left the place halfway during the pre-recording from 10 pm onwards, and so we took this opportunity to shift a bit closer.

New Yi Qing was the warmer!! Haha, funny guy... haven't seen him for some time liao. He had to draw out quite a lot of tickets before he and the rest of the production crew could come up with 7 worthy participants. Fortunately, most of the names selected were the non-fanclub members. Unfortunately, one of the names drawn out was a committee member of a fanclub (and she quickly gave it a miss, obviously being too shy to participate).

This was how the programme went...

  1. Christopher Lee singing "Xin Nian Hao", followed by the other artistes. This was the start of the show.
  2. Ping Hui, Chor Meng, Jeff Wang and Daren Tan singing some CNY song. It was really good to see Chor Meng participate, and he seems to be doing ok, even though he had to walk slowly during the segment.
  3. Pat Mok and Qi Yuwu played some "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game with 2 contestants. Pat's team won at record speed (thanks in due part to a few lucky dice tosses), and the way she formed the 'A' shape was kind hilarious, so was Yuwu's method of forming the letter 'B'. :-p
  4. Kelly Poon performance... she doesn't look attractive with her short and scruffy hairdo. Also, she looked very skinny!
  5. Yuwu, Joanne, Nat and Fel singing "He Xin Nian". Yuwu and Joanne sang the lines previously covered by Elvin and Jesseca respectively.
  6. Chris Lee, Priscelia and Fiona playing some game with 3 contestants involving them sliding a beer mug across a carrom table to a designated portion of the board to win some big money.
  7. An acting skit involving 8 artistes... Brandon Wong and Apple Hong as the grandparents, Jerry and Desmond as the grandsons, Jeff and Pat as the parents of the 2 boys, Nick and Joanne as the uncle and aunt of the boys. During the skit, a cow mascot would appear and try to 'attack' one of the female celebs. 4 of the Carlsberg ambassadors showed up to give their blessings, while the Friendship Ambassador Allan Wu (who was unable to attend) appeared in a pre-recorded segment.
  8. Ping Hui and Fel played another round of the "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game... this game took slightly longer than the first one, and it was Ping Hui's team that won.
  9. Fann Wong singing "Chun Tian Lai Le". Judging by the grey dress she wore, it seems like she probably "didn't have much money to buy a decent dress"... haha, kidding!! :-p
  10. Apple, Pat, Nick and Pris starting off the finale, then all the other artistes gathering to the centerstage and singing some CNY song (forgot name, though I have it in the Rat Year CD).
  11. I couldn't stop laughing when the huge-mouthed Bao Guang yelled out names like "Apple Ping Guoooo", "Jiong Yaoooo" (Brandon's Chinese name) and "Mi Xueee" (Mich Chong's Chiense name). Lol, I also saw that stinkbomb Lei Jun present at the place, at least he's wearing shoes this time round.

The recording finished at 2310 hrs, and the majority of us then headed to good ol' Radiogate to wait for the artistes to come out.

Daren was the first to come out at about 2320 hrs. Ping Hui came out at around this time, but I didn't really approach him, even though I sorta wanted to. But never mind...

Joanne came out abt 10 minutes later. I personally felt that her signature is the most unique one I have ever come across. She stayed a bit longer, and she was still there with the Jolliteers even when I took a cab back.
Fiona was by the side of the gate region... I managed to give her an advanced birthday gift as well as a custom-made photo with birthday frame. :-)

Pornsak was with Nat cos they happened to live quite near each other. Seeing that there were more people queuing up for Nat, I decided to take pic with Pornsak first (whom I had seen during the more recent Carlsberg roadshows of course).

Then I went forth to take picture with Nat. Heh, I noticed that Nat's position was quite similar to the one taken at the Christmas party in 2007. :-)

Last but not least, I went forth to take picture with beautiful Felicia (and yep, that's my hand on her shoulder, muahaha). :-)
After bading farewell to Fel and the others, I shared cab with Ryan, Da Xiong and Shu Yi to respective places. I reached home at about 0025 hrs, but not before taking pictures of 2 more xiaomaos located near my block. The brown-grey cat seemed more passive, so I stroked it with pure affection. I was aware that the white one at the grass patch is a rather cowardly one, so I left it alone. Lights out at 0050 hrs with some music... what a day!! :-p

Nominees for certain categories for Star Awards 2009

As seen in Paul Chan's BaGua TV blog, there has been a few categories being put up recently for the upcoming Star Awards ceremony (which is to commence in either March or April this year). I'm putting up my predictions for Best Newcomer and Best Drama categories...

Nominations for Best Newcomer:
- Wayne Chua Peixuan (actually a Star Search 2003 finalist from the Malaysia batch)
- Andie Chen (made his debut in "The Defining Moment",and later appeared in "The Little Nyonya")
- Jerry Yeo (made his debut in "Beach Ball Babes")
- Koh Yah Hwee (made her debut in "Love Blossoms")
- Dai Yang Tian (having gained popularity with his role in The Little Nyonya)
- Rebecca Lim (give this sweetie her due already!)

Who I think will win: Jerry Yeo. He is a more seasoned and natural performer than Andie and the other Star Search alumni.

Who I feel should win: Wayne Chua, given her strong and consistent performances in shows like "Golden Path", "The Beautiful Scent", etc. Pity she doesn't have a strong fanbase like what fellow Malaysian Jesseca Liu is enjoying.

Nominations for Best Drama Series:
- The Little Nyonya (confirm one lah!!)
- By My Side
- The Golden Path
- Just In Singapore
- A Perfect Cut
- The Defining Moment

Who I think will win: The Little Nyonya, given its strong script, outsatnding cast (thumbs up to Jeanette, Joanne, Ng Hui and Zzen, to name a few) huge following and immense populairty. Moreover, it has become Singapore's most watched Channel 8 drama in the past 15 years.

Who I feel should win: By My Side. It is a tearjerker able to convey a message to the public on the severity of the AIDS virus and how it can affect the victim and his family mentally and physically. Not to forget the outstanding performances from Hanwei, Zoe, Elvin and Rui En. :-)

Random stuff on WWE news, new President and upcoming gala premiere

Happy Birthday to Kelvin and Sharon
Start of the Aquarius Star

Congratulations to CM Punk for winning the Intercontinental Championship!! His win over William Regal has solidified his status as the 19th Triple Crown Champion in WWE history.

I am also delighted over Cryme Tyme's victory over The Miz and John Morrison... this victory earn them a future match against The Shaman of Sexy and the Chick Magnet for the World Tag Team Titles.

And who can forget the return of Mr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon on WWE Raw? He reinstated Chris Jericho and put him back in the Royal Rumble match, but only on the condition that he apologise to Stephanie for insulting her. Randy Orton barged in and demanded an apology from Steph for slapping him, and when Vince threatened to fire him, Orton responded with a slap and a vicious punt kick to the skull. What a disastrous return for the chairman of the WWE... never have I seen anyone assault Mr McMahon with such remorselessness, other than seeing Stone Cold Steve Austin give Vince various Stone Cold Stunners.

Today in world news, we will witness the threshold of a new era in American history as the much derided George W Bush steps down from office after completing his 2nd full term and makes way for the next President in line, Barack Obama.

I will be going for the gala premiere of "Love Matters" at VivoCity later tonight... will upload pictures here at a later date ;-)

And yes, I am confirmed to be going for the pre-recording of the Carlsberg Golden Ox Year Special tomorrow!! Muahaha... ;-)

Lowdown on events during the weekend- part 2

And this was what I did today...

Sunday, 18th January, aka today

Me and family went for morning service, the sermon had got something to do with the faith of Rahab as well as the faith of various people mentioned in the Bible. After service ended, we headed to Plaza Singapura to have lunch, then we bought some stuff there. It was there that I decided to go my own path... taking a bus to Orchard region, to see almost no CNY decorations within the region (then again, they ae all mostly at Chinatown). After spending some time at Borders, I took a train to Ang Mo Kio Hub to watch some Love Matters roadshow located at the 1st basement. Got Jack Neo, Michelle Tay, Henry Thia, Yeo Yann Yann, plus a few youngsters (one of them being a beautiful teenage girl named Natalie). I left the place halfway not just bcos of Felicia's event at Sun Plaza, but also bcos I saw a few guys I didn't like... most particularly that stinkbomb Lei Jun!! Proof of his overwhelming BO was when a beautiful girl in blue dress standing next to him had to cover her nose and mouth, same for the 2 mei nus standing just in front of him. And LJ still wearing slippers... hope someone steps on his toes soon, muahaha.

Even when I was about to take a train from Ang Mo Kio to Sembawang, I saw a certain tramp I greatly disliked... an ex-colleague from Mos Burger whom I felt is rather chidlish and annoying. So I purposely distanced myself from that person by going to another carriage. Anyway, I reached Sun Plaza at abt 3 something... I saw some fengshui master at the centrestage along with a beautiful lady named Foyce Le Xuan (I found out from Facebook, and I had seen her before a few times at MediaCorp). I saw some of the Felicians there liao, including the silly gal known as Hui Si. Felicia showed up at 5 pm exactly, and she talked about her hosting gig on Campus Superstar as well as her upcoming role in "The Ultimatum". She then sang "Xi Qi Yang Yang" and played some games with a few fans. Fel waved goodbye to the fans and got off the stage at about 5.35 pm, and went around each and every store of Sun Plaza to give oranges, within all 3 levels. The crowd that followed her everywhere was massive and overwhelming, even more so than the event at Ang Mo Kio last week!! I found it rather funny when she entered a lingerie shop at one point... she got escorted to the lifet lobby at the end of the place, much to the dismay of many. I later learnt that the security remained steadfast even when fans tried to follow Fel and the management to the parking lot!!

Although I was a little jaded by the 'mission failure' (ie. to get her autograph on the latest 8 days issue), I took it with a positive outlook, knowing there will be a next time (hopefully this coming week). As I entered the Sembawang MRT station, I saw Hoetian and gang (yep, including the one who is way too similar to Dawn Yeoh). I dropped off at Bishan, had dinner there and headed home. Will upload a few pics tomorrow...

Lowdown on events during the weekend- part 1

Happy Birthday to Dave Batista and Kimberly Anne

What a mad rush... I just got back home from yet another crazy day... this was what I did for yesterday and today...

Saturday, 17th January (yesterday)
Before I left the house at around 1 pm, I had to leave my phone off for a while cos I was getting nuisance calls from someone who is attempting to 'manipulate' me into going for some wedding (see aforementioned post). I already had in mind what to do with the extra copy of Rui En's CD which I bought at Heartland Mall (sorry, can't tell you). I took a long train ride from Kovan to Boon Lay terminal, and entered Jurong Point with a surprised look on my face, cos the place had changed a lot since the last time I went (which was abt 18 mths ago). Matter of fact, it had gotten BIGGER!! I found the centrestage without mch difficulty and it was there that I watched the semi-finals for a certain singing competition known as "I Just Wanna Sing", sponsored by a certain W3M entertainment music school (or something like that).

After the event came to an end at around 4.25 pm, the stage 'metamorphosised' into Rui En's autograph space... the red veil over the stage background was simply removed to reveal a huge picture of Rui En's 2nd album cover. Quite a lot of people within the 1st and 2nd levels, though there were fewer people at the 3rd level. Dennis Chew from Yes 93.3 was the host for the event, he gave away 3 pairs of tickets for Rui En's birthday bash which is to commence this coming Friday (I couldnt go unfortunately). Rui En came up on stage a few minutes later, to talk about the reason behind converting back to her original name and what she's been busy with lately. She then sang "Qing Wa" and "Chuan Fan", before getting on with the autograph session. This time round, fans got the option to take picture with Rui En after getting their albums autographed. Soon after Rui En left the palce, myself and Naomi took a train out of Boon Lay to our respective destinations.

I changed train at Jurong East and took train to Ang Mo Kio, and it was there that I had dinner with Ryan and Source. We then headed to Basement 2 of AMK Hub where FairPrice Xtra was, and no sign of the Carlsberg team. It was a superbly long wait, til they finally arrived at abt 9.20 pm, nearly an hour late. But no point blaming them cos they came all the way from their earlier event at Tampines. The game segment had to be done rather quickly, and they all left the place at abt 9.55 pm, but not before taking pictures and going for a beer toast with the Carlsberg crew and the staff of FairPrice Xtra. The 3 of us then took bus back to our respective homes. These were the games that the Carlsberg Ambassadors played...
  • Michelle Chia- toss the huge dice to get 2 similar results
  • Fiona Xie- do as many hula-hoops-twirls as possible
  • Allan Wu- trivia between close friends
  • Michelle Chong- stack 20 cans of Carlsberg to the maximum within 20 seconds, without them toppling down
  • Mark Lee- put in the stated amount into the gold teal as fast as possible

Carlsberg event at Yishun

Happy Birthday to Lauren

Before I begin, I would like to make myself clear once more to my 'dear friends' Muhd Fauzi and Sufian... I AM NOT GOING FOR ISNAEN'S WEDDING!!! And that's the bottom line, cause Tanat said so!!

Yesterday I went for a Carlsberg event at Yishun Avenue 5. Wasn't much of a problem reaching the place, but then the region was rather crammed cos it was in the midst of a coffee shop (not a very pleasing sight in roadshow standards). The event started kinda late, and by the time Pornsak and the 5 Carlsberg ambassadors arrived, there were plenty of people at the place!! Thankfully I was standing somewhere in front, so I had no problem taking pictures. Event ended at around 8.05 pm, and the 6 of them stayed behind a little longer to take pic with fans. I managed to get Mark Lee's and Michelle Chong's autographs on the i-weekly magazine before they all left for the big yellow bus to Tanglin Halt Road.

I then took a bus to Northpoint, where I had my dinner. After that, I took bus back home in time to watch another episode of WWE Smackdown. Happy for MVP to end his losing streak by scoring a win over Big Show in a Last Man Standing match with some help from Triple H... a bit saddened over Victoria's decision to retire from wrestling, and quite stunned over Jeff Hardy being blinded by stray fireworks on his way to the ring for "The Cutting Edge".

Here are a few pictures taken at Yishun ave 5... more pictures can be found in my photo album on Facebook... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=82502&id=556354026
