What I did on Valentine's Day (and the day after that)
14th Feb: Tommy Dreamer, Elis, Abel
15th Feb: Carol, Cindy and Val
Happy Valentine's Day
Although I am a rather sentimental person by nature, I treat the 14th of Feburary with little special privilege. Not because of my single status, but because I feel that any day can be V-Day (I'm sure some of you will agree with me). Pictures to be uploaded in a separate post... ;-)
Yesterday
I went out at 12 plus, with the intention of going to Tampines Mall to watch some Love Matters event. But upon reading the time listings in the Straits Times, I decided to go to Jurong Point at the last minute. Indeed my decision to go to Tampines Mall came as a 'sort of blessing' cos there happened to be a Valentine Romance pageant finals involving 5 different couples, and even better, one of the judges turned out to be Genecia!! The other 2 judges were also gorgeous in their own way... Veriza Yew got great curves and sexy lips, whereas Danielle Lim is sweet-looking, but very skinny. I managed to have a chat with Genecia for a while after the show ended at 4 plus, and we wished each other Happy Valentine's Day.
I then went upstairs to aoid being trapped in the overwhelming crowd at the 1st floor waiting for JJ Lin event to start... I met up with Terence at the 3rd level and we had our early dinner at the Kopitiam outlet located opposite Golden Village cinema. We saw some cast members of Love Matters having early dinner there as well... we managed to take picture with Alex Leong before they headed into the cinema to promote the film with the fans inside. I left JP minutes before JJ Lin mae his arrival, taking a long train ride from Boon Lay to Outram Park.
Then I took a train to Kovan with Naomi... we went to Living Sanctuary Church (located just next to my place!!) to attend some "Light Of Love" special involving Jacelyn Tay. To my surpris, there were still a number of empty seats by the time we reached the auditorium, so we managed to find a good spot at the right side of the place. There was some acting segment involved at the start of the show, depicting the events that happened in the years when she became a bankrupt and when she was about to explore the Christian faith. Then came an interview segment where Jace talked about her personal encounters that happened when she was about to get baptized, and how her mother was saved from certain death several times (and eventually accepted Jesus as her Saviour).
The event ended at 9 pm, and we went down to have some refreshments alongside Terence and Desmond. Jace came up on stage to give away some prizes to lucky winners via lucky draw, and after mingling with a few menior citizens for a while, some muscular dude drove her out of the place. After bading Noami farewell, I walked back home and had a good night's rest (even though I had slept rather late). :-)
Today
Me and family went for morning service in church, the sermon was on Joshua Chapter 7, in regards to a certain disgraceful incident that happened after the fall of Jericho. We then went to Suntec and had lunch there. I stayed around fr a while to watch some performance at the Total Defence roadshow which took place at the Tropics Atrium region, then took a bus to Orchard Road, hanging around Paragon for a while. Somehow it turned out I was probably the earliest of the Naturals to reach Park Hotel Orchard (where we were gonna have some KTV gathering)... the main ics came at around that time. From 2 to 3 plus, there were about 6 of us (myself, Michelle, Shu Yi, Calista, Joyce and Joanne) Naturals reserving the place... we were later joined by 4 more (Fiona, Cravies, Ryan and Da Xiong). We sang to our hearts' delight for about 4 hours... we also held an advanced birthday celebration for Joyce (her birthday is this coming Sat).
After the session ended, 8 of us (minus Ryan and DX, who left halfway and would rejoin us for dinner later; Calista had left halfway) went to Heerens to meet up with Irene... and I was very surprised to see a familiar-looking gal there (I can only say that she used to be part of Singapore Idol season 2, and her initials are MJL). The 10 of us had dinner at the basement level of Orchard Cineleisure, then after that we went our separate ways. I reached home at about 8.30 pm... and yep, I'm blogging right now :-)

Condolences and assault report
Stay sweet and beautiful always, Jess... looking foward to your return in abt 2 mths time, I miss you loads.
Here's some heart-wrenching news to share... Christopher Lee's father Mr Lee Soo Kim passed away on Tuesday due to heart attack as well as respiratory problems resulting from fluid in lungs. Chris, his mother and his siblings had been at Mr Lee's side for about 2 weeks in a hospital in Malacca, up to the tragic day. My deepest sympathies to Chris and his family... may they remain strong during this period of grief and loss (Because of this, Chris will not be appearing at the Valentine's Day special in GV VivoCity later tonight).
Another piece of shocking news had gotta be the one where rapper Chris Brown was arrested for assaulting and bruising his soon-to-be-ex girlfriend Rihanna (!!!). Both of them have no-showed in the recent Grammy Awards ceremony due to this incident. I have heard of domestic violence cases before in recent times, but this one is quite unbelievable!! If found guilty, Mr Brown could be charged for up to 4 years jail. Since the incident, Brown's music has been pulled off of radio stations and his advertisements for Wrigley's and Got Milk? have been suspended, and Sesame Workshop announced that the Sesame Street episode featuring Brown would be pulled from future broadcast. Shame on him...wonder why people want to resort to fist fights these days... first the altercation between Chris Jericho and some fans in Canada, and now this.
Yes, I know today is Friday the 13th, but Im not the superstitious kind to begin with. Nothing unlucky had happened to me during the last Friday the 13th (which took place last June methinks), and I'm quite sure that I wouldn't encounter any misfortune. And as far as Friday the 13th is concerned, I am not gonna watch the reboot of "Friday the 13th" later this year (the film starring Jason Voorhees as the main character)... anyway, just wish me luck when I go out later ;-)

My thoughts on Benjamin Button and Chestnuts Dark Knuts

A few days ago, I watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", loosely based on a short story of the same name, but with large differences. The timeline for the film takes place from 1918 to 2003, while the timeline for the book took place from 1860 to 1930.
It is a very touching story of a man who was born with the appearance and physical limitations of an 85-year-old man, abandoned by his father (a rich button maufacturer) right after birth, and adopted by a childless Afro-American couple. Over the course of the story, Benjamin begins to biologically grow younger, yet his physical condition tnded to improve over the years; by the age of 20, he no longer need to walk in cutches or a cane. Ben eventually reconciled with his biological father Thomas upon his return to the US, just before the latter passed on. In the 1950s, he looked to be in his 40s, with many people mistaking him as Daisy's "uncle". By the 1960s, when he looked like a 30-something, he and Daisy lived together and they had a daughter named Caroline, after Ben's biological mother. Ben then left Daisy and Caroline behind with his possessions, travelling around the world and supporting himself with odd jobs. By the 1980s, Ben looked to be in his 20s, reuniting with Daisy for a while, eventually accepting the fact that Daisy had become too old. By the 1990s, Ben turned into a teenager who had just hit puberty, with very little recolletcion of his past, even when Daisy comes back regularly every year to check on him. By the year 2003, he was an infant, and since he could no longer grow any younger than one month, he died peacefully in Daisy's arms.
I feel this film is a heartwarming family drama for everyone, one that teaches about self-importance, full of sheer ambition and technical prowess. It is cliched, but visually impressive and down-to-earth. I rate this movie 8.5 out of 10 stars. :-)
Yesterday I left the house at 4 something, braving through heavy rain and settling dinner rather early at Raffles City. Then I went around Raffles Place region, taking lots of photos before going to Victoria Theater to watch "Chestnuts Dark Knuts", it started about 40 minutes late due to overwhelming number of guests at lower gallery!! The upper gallery had a lot of empty seats, much to my surprise. I met Angie at the entrance, and I also saw Pat Mok at the 2nd level. Later on I saw Wendy Cheng aka Xiaxue with friends... they sat at the front row (AA) of the upper gallery. I think I saw a church friend with her husband present at the same place as well.
It is so hilarious, you could easily peng-san!! I laughed til tears flowed down xiah... Never thought those guys would poke fun at PM Lee Hsien Loong during the National Day Rally about Team S'pore losing to Team China at the table tennis finals (the Parliament House is just nearby!!), Jade Seah swearing during "Tonight in Beijing", Ng Chin Han talking about his time in US, Mas Selamat, Pondan News Asia, war dramas of the last 25 years, the Little Nyonya series, etc. There seemed to have too much focus on Avenue P puppets, I feel. The show may have ended on a rather strange note (though it lasted for abt 2.5 hrs), but I still enjoyed the whole show nonetheless.
Highlights include...
- Welcome to Avenue P- They're amazing singers and wonderful actors, cheaper than Broadway! No wonder everyone's feeling a little bit pinoy these days... the puppets even fool around with Wall-E and Eve at one point.
- Bats In The City- fighting crime is hard... fighting crime and looking sexy is effing hard. Bruce Wayne and his 3 pals navigate the ups and downs of crime and couture.
- Singalympics- since F1 only managed to shut down a small part of the island, Singapore decides to make a daring bid to host the next Olmypics!
- Quantum-Mia- the increasingly intense 007 agent Daniel Craig is being sent to a Greek island to search for fromer Bond actor Pierce Brosnan who had been masquerading as the father of the bride in a musical, when he clearly cannot sing.
- Twi Knight- Bella Swan moves in to Washington to live with her mother and stepfather. She sits next to Edward during biology class, unaware that he is different from everyone else. The time came when Edward eventually reveals himself to be something much more sadistic and sinister than a vampire...
After the show ended, me and the others discovered (much to our ismay) that the cast and crew had left the place rather quickly to go for supper. Even more frightening, a TRANSSEXUAL (a rather hot one, I have to admit) had just come out from the GENTS restroom after I had 'done big business'!! It was damn frightening, I tell you... nearly scared the s**t out of me. Very hard to tell that the 'chiobu' who just came out from the GENTS is actually a man... later I heard 'her' talk to some guys a bit and I found out that the voice was rather manly. (urghhhh!!!) And I thought the katoeys (lady boys) in Pattaya were already scary enough!!! :-S
Anyway, I took a long walk from Victoria Theater to Armenian Street... I missed the last Bus 51 when the red man was still on (damn!!), so I took Bus 80 all the way to Kovan region and walked home. Lights out at 1 am.
Will upload pictures taken at Raffles Place when I have the time...

Jericho involved in altercation with fans
Talk about highly extreme or obsessed fans who only seek out to gain attention or create controversy... who would have thought this would really happen? And to think that this incident would involve a popular wrestler...

On February 7, 2009, WWE superstar Chris Jericho was involved in an altercation with fans outside Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia after a house show. In a moment of chaos, three fans crossed the line of televised entertainment and reality by going after Jericho in the parking lot.it
In a video of Saturday's incident posted on YouTube, an angry crowd began heckling Jericho as he was getting into his car. But when Jericho stared down a female fan, that's when things got violent.
It appeared that the girl spit on the wrestler; Jericho then flipped out and the woman was knocked to the ground. At that point, a male fan suddenly rushed in to attack Y2J. Jericho managed to shove that guy away, and others who got too close. During the melee, Jericho can be heard screaming at security to "do your f***ing job". Finally, security tackled one of the men to the ground and Jericho was able to get in his ride and take off.
Police spokesman Grant Hamilton says a man and woman were taken into custody, questioned and released without any charge.
Hamilton says police have been in contact with WWE officials and they are co-operating with the investigation. Hamilton says it's too early to determine whether or not charges will be laid because police haven't viewed all the video footage and more witnesses have to be interviewed.
Jericho could be in some serious legal trouble over this one; although he was provoked, he seriously snapped and crossed the line.
The episode will come as a blow to the WWE, who recently stated their intention to reposition the company as a more family-oriented entertainment brand.

Christian Bale ranting
Today is the 15th day of Chinese New Year... last chance for CNY wishes is at 2359 hrs.
Who would have thought that something rather unpleasant and explicit can be converted into something catchy and addictive? No, I'm not referring to Eminem's greatest hits, I'm talking about "Bale Out", a comedic techno remix of Christian Bale's angry tirade... :-)
This was what actually happened...
In late July 2008, it was reported that Christian Bale had an angry tirade on the set of Terminator Salvation, while filming in New Mexico. In February 2009, audio of the incident was released. The tirade was directed at Shane Hurlbut, director of photography for the film, and was triggered by Hurlbut stepping on to the set across Bale's line of sight during a scene. The recording is of a highly agitated Bale directing profanities at Hurlbut, threatening him, and finally threatening to quit the film if Hurlbut repeated his offence without being fired for it. It was reported that Warner film executives sent the tape to the insurer of the film in case Bale decided to quit the movie. In an interview with E! Online, assistant director and producer of Terminator Salvation, Bruce Franklin, said it was an isolated incident. "If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove...It was the most emotional scene in the movie," said Franklin. "And for him to get stopped in the middle of it. He is very intensely involved in his character. He didn't walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed."
Lucian Piane, a composer and music producer with the Internet alias RevaLucian, recorded "Bale Out", a comedic techno remix of Bale's verbal rant, which received more than 200,000 hits on MySpace and YouTube in one day. Stephen Colbert parodied the incident on the 4 February 2009 episode of The Colbert Report, in which guest Steve Martin repeatedly walked in front of the camera and was berated by Colbert.
After remaining silent for most of the week, Bale gave a public apology on the morning of 6 February 2009, on radio station KROQ. He stated that the outburst was "unexcusable" and that it was caused by the day's shooting intensity. Bale said he "acted like a punk", and that he and Hurlbut talked after the incident and "resolved this completely". Bale acknowledged that the two worked together for several hours after the incident, and "at least a month after that". He noted, "I've seen a rough cut of the movie and he has done a wonderful job. It looks fantastic."
Somehow I am beginning to suspect that Christian Bale might be suffering from IED... given his 3-minute ranting at the set of Terminator Salvation. Then again, I think he just has anger management issues with the rather inexperienced and amateur-ish Shane Hurlbut. Bale had said the F word more than 30 times in the 3-plus minute audioclip... and yep, I also applaud Lucian Piane aka RevoLucian for his genius work and creativity :-)

On a side note... I hope Bro doesnt err, end up like Bale, given his sudden outburst while watching a soccer match last night (not the first time, but this one was the most intense). That seriously scared the daylights (or should I say, nightlights, since the tirade happened at 9 plus) off me and Mother... this is the consequence of having a soccer fanatic in one's family (esp if the fanatic is your brother).

CSS roadshow at Far East Plaza
Oh yes, Happy Belated 5th Birthday to Facebook too!! ;-)
Yesterday I went to Far East Plaza to see some Campus Superstar roadshow, but before that I went to Marina Square to settle some payment for membership fee for a certain fanclub. Then I took bus to Orchard region, reaching Far East Plaza rather early at abt 3 pm. Once I found the stage, I booked place with Valerie and Irene. I slso saw Chengying, Shanwei, Melvin, Terence and those 2 xiao mei meis (Wendy and Jamie), to name a few. Not to forget some of the Felicians as well ;-)
It was indeed very surprising to see Felicia there... she initially wasn't scheduled to make an appearance there due to filming for "The Ultimatum", but it turned out she wasn't required for the day, so yeah she's included in the event at the last minute, joining the other hosts (Lee Teng, Pornsak and Yuan Shuai). Almost couldn't recognise her with the hair let loose and the bangs covering her eyebrows (but she's still chioh rite?)
The event lasted for nearly 2 hours, and yep you bet I took a lot of pictures during that time. Not only do the contestants write on art paper on who they like or their biggest competitors, they also played games with fans. Funniest part had gotta be when a guy came out in a Mickey Mouse jacket, and he soon got 'combo-ed' by Pornsak and Lee Teng!! Only the contestants took the big yellow bus back to Mediacorp, the hosts stayed behind at n-Core shop. To view more pics taken at Far East Plaza, do go to these 2 links...

Me, V, I, W and J shared cab to MediaCorp to 'try our luck' at the reception. Sure enough, Jarod and Jiamin came out, they were the last contestants around, the others had already left before them.
We then headed to RG to chill out for a while. We managed to take pic with Paige Chua who had just gotten back from filming for "Your Hand In Mine" with Yao Wenlong and a few others. She currently plays Xiaowei, "brother" of Zhiwei (Tay Ping Hui) in "The Dream Catchers". Very warm and likeable girl indeed :-)
After that, I went to Ang Mo Kio and had my dinner there, before heading back home. :-)

My thoughts on Athlete of The Year and abominations
Another thing I know for sure is that her retarded, despicable cousin MKP would have one more thing to cheer about. The more that idiot yaks and brags about his so-called achievements and his time as PA (Produation Assistant) in his forbidden domain (aka his BLOG), the more I feel like smacking him hard on the face and then giving him a vicious punt kick to the skull. 'Nuff said.
To be brutally honest, I can be quite cynical, I personally don't believe that the most rotten soul deserves a second chance to change for the better. That is partly the reason why I like vigilante-type characters like Batman, Two-Face, Daredevil and even The Punisher.

A CAT version of Aids??
This piece of news simply broke my heart... some mysterious soul burying several cats along a long grass patch at Seletar Esate. A mass burial of about 45 cats (damn, that's A LOT!!!).
Before anyone can label this anonymous gravedigger a 'cat killer' or 'inhuman', another startling revelation came forth... most of the 45 decaesed cats which had been buried were found to have sucuumbed to some deadly virus, based on recent autopsy reports. So it seems like this person isn't so heartless after all (but what he did is still rather dangerous and unacceptable).
And the virus rumored to be responsible for these deaths is known as... FIV?? Feline Immunodefiency Virus. This disease is not usually fatal in healthy adult cats, but can be fatal in kittens and older cats whose immnue systems had been compromised. Another common illness is feline panleucopenia, primarily spread through contact wit an infected cat's body fluids, faeces or fleas.
Good news is, these type of diseases cannot be transmitted to humans. Bad new is, it is difficult to tell which cats suffer from the disease, given the rising number of stray cats in recent years.
Now that this news had come to light, I am beginning to suspect that some of the cats near my house may already have been infected with either FIV or feline distemper... then again, it's hard to tell. Regardless of the outcome, my love for cats would never change even if this drastic discovery had surfaced... I will continue to love them unconditionally, with pure affection and no biasness (even if some of them run away at the sight of anyone).
To end off, I will put in some photos of cats taken in the past 2 weeks... enjoy. ;-)
