Tuesday outing part 1: i-weekly event at Chevron House

Happy Birthday to Vincent Kang and Alva
Earlier today, I had trouble logging in to Blogger, and since I put most of the details in the backup blog via Facebook, I will put in more emphasis on the photos rather than elaborate too much on the happenings.

Yesterday I reached Raffles Place at 12.10 pm, quite relieved to learn that the event hadnt started yet. But I was surprised by the long queue to the i-weekly magazine counter. Event was hosted by DJ Cruz Teng.

At 12.30 pm, Aileen and Andie Chen came out to promote their respective shows, "Red Thread" and "Fighting Spiders". Aileen finally waved to me and acknowledged my presence, yippee!! :-)

At 1 pm, Huajing, Lee Teng and Elvin came out to promote different programmes. Huajing doesn't look so nice anymore with her hair cut short like mushroom, but she still got very happening figure, esp with those legs. Lee Teng was probably blushing since he was standing next to Huajing, whereas Elvin looked as shuai as ever. :-)

Event ended at 1.30 pm, with the queue getting lesser. I went down to basement to have lunch, then took train out of Raffles Place to Ang Mo Kio. To be continued in Part 2...

Campus Superstar Final 6

Yesterday, I slacked at home for most of the day, but that's mostly because it was raining rather heavily during midday. I only left the house at about 4 pm. Had dinner at AMK Hub and reached MediaCorp at 6 plus, chatting with Terence, Shanwei and the like. The moment I saw Jamie and Valerie, I quikly rushed forward to the younger one and pinched her with affection.

Ok at 7 plus, we went into the lower gallery of the theater, the Felicians sat at the left side of the level near the main entrance/exit. Managed to wave to Yi Qing, and I took some pics before the show began obviously. Managed to see Ridhwan and Rachael Chang seated at the centre part of the lower gallery, within Jiamin's fanclub. Ohyes, I saw CSS 1 alumni Imm Khim, she looked really WHOA MAN in black top and shorts. Turns out she's a friend of Rachel Lim. :-)

Competition is getting tougher here. Like last week's round, 2 contestants will be eliminated by the end of the night. In order to qualify to next round, the contestant must get above 28 points. If the score is lower, the contestant will be in the danger zone. The contestant with the lowest score for the judges' voting round will be eliminated. The remaining contestants will then be determined by publc voting, the 2 with lowest number of votes will have to go through a 'PK round'. The contestant whose mike gets screwed up will be out.

Jarod got 30 points. Showing improvement in spite of his yet-to-break voice.

Ai Jia got the highest with 30.5 points. Still showing power vocals like before.

Mavis got 29.5 points. Good in terms of technical prowess, I have to admit.

Rachel got 26.5 points, somehow she wasn't as consistent as previous week's.

Jiamin got 27.5 points. She did something different by dancing, and that caught many people by surprise. The judges weren't too impressed by this though.

Joselin got 24.5 marks, and got eliminated as a result. She was already in tears prior to that, mostly due to flashbacks on one of her best friends who passed away recently due to car accident. Not forgetting the fact that she seemed to have lost her voice.

The Felicians then headed to RG right after the perfromance show ended... there was a commotion happening at the entrance, but I don't know exactly what happened cos I just came out from the washroom. Suddenly due to some unknown reason, I found myself rushing forward to RG...

Turns out that Dai Yang Tian was there!! Woo hoo, it's my lucky day... I managed to get his autograph in the 8 days calendar at last, and also take pic with him for very first time. :-)

For the next 30 to 40 mins, the Felicians were chilling out at the shelter in front of RG... I couldn't resist teasing Hui Si during this time. Felicia finally came out at 10.10 pm (munching on an apple)... we took pic with her of course. This is my 20th indvividual picture with Fel I think. Oh yes, Dennis Chew arrived at RG via taxi at around this time :-)

After that, most of the Felicians went back home. After a moment of contemplating, I decided not to stay at reception to wait for the contestants. opting instead to get back home by 11 plus... just in time to watch the results show for CSS Final 6. Rachel was next to be ousted, but she was still smiling, and her parents got on stage to embrace her.

Josef Fritzl, one of the most detestable beings ever to exist

The Fritzl case emerged in April 2008 when a 42-year-old woman, Elisabeth Fritzl, stated to police in the town of Amstetten in Austria that she had been held captive for 24 years in a concealed part of the basement of the family home by her father, Josef Fritzl, and that he had physically assaulted, sexually abused, and raped her numerous times during her imprisonment. The incestuous relationship forced upon her by her father had resulted in the birth of seven children and one miscarriage. Three of the children had been imprisoned along with their mother for the whole of their lives: daughter Kerstin, aged 19; and sons Stefan, 18; and Felix, 5. One child, named Michael, had died three days after birth, deprived of all medical help; his body had been incinerated by Josef Fritzl on his property. The three other children were raised by Josef and his wife Rosemarie in the upstairs home. He had engineered the appearance of these children as foundlings discovered outside his house: Lisa at nine months in 1993, Monika at ten months in 1994, and Alexander at fifteen months in 1997. When the eldest daughter, Kerstin, became seriously ill, Josef Fritzl allowed her to be taken to a hospital, which triggered a series of events that eventually led to discovery. He was arrested on 26 April 2008, aged 73, on suspicion of serious crimes against family members and will go on trial on 16 March 2009. He faces the following six charges: murder of the infant Michael, rape, deprivation of liberty, coercion, enslavement and incest.

Reading this bizarre piece of news made me sick and angry at the same time. Not only do I feel sympathetic towards Elizabeth Fritzl and her kids, I also felt disgust and hatred for Josef Fritzl. How could the guy rape his own daughter and father 7 to 8 kids with her?? To make things worse, he locked all of them in an underground cellar that is way too small and shut them off from the rest of the world, treating them like slaves/prisoners. And due to lack of exposure to sunlight, the former captives are extremely pale (think Michael Jackson) and cannot endure natural light. This Josef Fritzl is truly inhuman and unforgivable, to think he could do this to his own flesh and blood! I really hope that he gets punished for his sins. Who cares if he's too old to get a sentence!! I want to see justice done onto him asap. What Josef did is morally wrong, to think he can cover up his mistakes by locking his own flesh and blood in an underground cell for more than 2 decades.

Overdrive Rangers at Heartland Mall

I know this sounds kinda childish, but prior to going for the i-weekly event at Bugis Junction, I went to Heartland Mall specially to see the Overdrive Power Rangers in action. Turns out that only 3 male Rangers were involved. But doesnt really matter anyway, the response was quite good with over 100 kids gathering to watch the live performance.

Mack Hartford the Red Overdrive Ranger. His special ability is super strength. He is owner of the Red Dump Driver 1 and the Sonic Streaker 10.

Will Aston the Black Overdrive Ranger. He is able to see things and hear sounds from far distances. He is owner of the Black Speed Driver 2 and the Purple Crane Driver 9.

Dax Lo the Blue Overdrive Ranger. He is able to jump at great heights. He is owner of the Blue Gyro Driver 3 and the Green Cement Driver 8.

The Rangers with young Ranger wannabes.

The Overdrive Rangers involved in a triple-threat sparring session. Would be more fun if the Mercury Ranger were involved as well.

The Overdrive Rangers taking pictures with kids holding on to special passes.

The variety of toys being sold at the ground level. The Overdrive toys were sold at 20% discount, whilst the Mystic Force toys were sold at half price. I took the chance to buy a few Mystic Force Ranger toys. :-)

P.S. any Ranger toy collector/fanatic out there may want to check out the various toy stores at China Square Central at Chinatown, there are lots of Ranger robots sold there from MMPR series to the RPM Ranger series currently airing on Jetix TV.
