MocCarnival Day 1, plus seeing a Princess again

(Note: this entry was delayed due to Earth Hour between 2030 to 2130 hrs last night).

Man, I feel so happy... yesterday, I went to 2 events. Ended up taking picture with not one, but two beauties! One of them whom I had not seen for 3 months... :-)

Firstly, I went for some MocCarnival Full House event at D'Marquee tent-like structure, Downtown East. I managed to buy 2 Guile figures (based off Jean Claude Van Damme's image as seen in the Street Fighter live-action movie) from one of the stalls, each figure costs only 1 dollar. Besides Ryan and Naomi, I also saw Terence and Melvin who were there earlier... soon after saw XT and KL.

The activities at that time were hosted by 97.2 FM DJs Violet Chen and some guy whose name I forgot (sorry!). Julian Hee and Celest Chong graced the stage at abt 2 pm to promote their upcoming drama "Red Thread", as well as to play games with a few fans. Terence and Naomi were called up on stage :-p

When the segment ended at around 3, me and the few friends went to the rear region of the tent to wait for Julian and Celest to come out. I couldnt take pic with Julian due to his PA being a bit too kan cheong, though Naomi, Terence and others did. I managed to take pic with Celest though :-)

After that, 3 of us (myself, Terence and Melvin) took shuttle bus to Pasir Ris MRT station. After Terence and Melvin dropped off at separate stations, I dropped off at City Hall station and went straight to Suntec Convention to wait for Jesseca...

Who knew that seconds after I took pic of the poster, Jesseca came down from the nearby escalator, at 4.30 pm!! Woo hoo, I couldnt believe my luck... had I reached there any later, I could have missed out on her!! Then again, that's because Jess had to rush back to ariport to resume filming in Malaysia. Do take care of yourself, babe...

My 10th picture with Jesseca. I even asked her how her pet cats Tigger and Crusso were doing... MEOW!!! :-)
Yep, you bet I did the Shawn Michaels entrance thingy again, esp since I need not wait for too long outside the Theater region at Level 2!! After having rather early dinner at Marina Square, I took a long bus ride back home.

Arghhh... I not too happy with the male artistes list... I realized taht there are quite a lot veteran artistes there (those aged above 45). But I am totally cool with the female artistes list. This is who I think should be included and who should not...

SHOULD be in list: Nat Ho, Shaun Chen, Dasmond Koh
Not in list, but kinda understandable: Edmund Chen (no longer full-timer), Terence Cao, Jeff Wang
SHOULD NOT even be in list at all: Marcus Chin, Henry Thia, Gurmit Singh (sorry)

Now the "real countdown" begins... I have exactly one month to consider whether or not to request for tickets for the live show, even if the voting system may be as screwed up as always...

My thoughts on Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li

Happy Birthday to Denise Keller and Jumalee

Yesterday, I went to Orchard Cineleisure to watch "Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li" with a friend. I didn't expect a 100% faithful portrayal here, and yeah even though there were a lot of cons in this film, I felt that it still retains the realism of the story in the Street Fighter games. The director and scriptwriter are to be blamed.
Good points...
- Our very own Edmund Chen playing Huang, the father of Chun-Li. Best part was, he didn't even need to go for any auditions!! Unfortunately, he got killed off midway through the film after a brief reunion with the grown-up Chun-Li. His fight scene at the first 5 to 10 minutes were quite impressive, to say the least. :-)
- Kristin Kreuk kicking ass as Chun-Li... we can still forgive her for her rather shaky command in Mandarin.
- Smokin' hot Moon Bloodgood as special forces agent Maya Sunee. Another ogle-worthy babe.
- Taboo from Black Eyed Peas as the ruthless Spanish asassin Vega. It certainly helped that he had a black belt in ninjitsu.
- Michael Clarke Duncan as the big-boned bruiser Balrog. Good thing he didn't need to wear that campy attire and boxing gloves.
- Robin Shou aka Liu Kang from the live-action series as Master Gen.
- Amazing choreography and decent fighting sequences. The Kikoken fireball used by Chun-Li and Gen was much more convincing than Ryu's blink-and-miss Hadouken from the 1994 film.
- Crisp and bright photographic scenery of Thailand, esp the slum regions. Ironically, the filming occurred around the time of the anti-Thaksin rallies.

Bad points...
- The plot was rather weak, and character development doesn't run smoothly.
- Poor Edmund kena killed by Bison rather unceremonially.
- No fighting scenes from Charlie Nash whatsoever, other than a few gunshots. Guile would not be so pleased.
- Neal McDonough as Bison was the biggest mistake ever in Street Fighter film history. Even Ken Lo from "Future Cops" (yes, that 1993 HK film starring Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung and other HK artistes) fares much better than him. Any hardcore Street Fighter fan would be greatly disappointed to see M. Bison as an averge-sized person dressed in a businessman suit, rather than a tall and muscular being in the military uniform as seen in the video games as well as the 1994 Street Fighter film. And who thought that Bison in this film is Irish!!
My thoughts: I bet that most of the Street Fighter fans would feel that the 1994 Street Fighter film starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Kylie Minogue et al was more entertaining than this one (even though it as also quite trashy), esp since it featured more characters and a slightly better storyline. While I obviously feel that this film had met very little expectations, I'm actually glad that I chose to watch this film rather than stay away from it, like how I totally keeped off from the ultimate joke that is Dragonball Evolution, which strayed too far away from the comics.
Overall rating: 4 out of 10 stars. Not a total disaster in spite of harsh reviews. I'm quite sure that Dragonball Evolution is much crappier...
Next movie to watch out for... 12 ROUNDS starring John Cena!!!

Starting Sculpting class with a bang... and watching CSS 3

Happy Birthday to The Undertaker, Gurmit Singh and Pamela J
Yesterday evening I went for Sculpting Class at Egg Story Digital Arts School. The class had about 14 t0 16 students, got a few cute gals. In fact, one of them (her name was Joyce I think) looked damn HAWT in black shorts and tight grey top. The character bust we had to sculpt is a very familiar-looking villain... this role won Heath Ledger various (posthumous) Best Supporting Actor awards at various ceremonies.

Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight!! Hehe, something that comic book fans would like. :-) (This was not done by any of us btw... just a guideline made by professionals)

But for first sculpting lesson, we had to learn the basics of forming the head and upper chest region, as well as shaping the eyes and nose. We obviously got our hands dirtied with clay from all that water dapping and shaping of the various features. Lesson ended a little late at 10.15 pm, and I took a bus back home, not before going superbly WHOA MAN upon noticing a few fine-looking babes in shorts. Silk Spectre alert, muahaha!!!

An accident nearly happened at the pedestrian crossing just meters from my block... when myself with 2 other civilians (a middle-aged man and his young daughter) were halfway crossing the road, a motorbike suddenly dashed behind us, when the red light is still on!!! WTH!!!! Can't the motorcyclist just stop for a few seconds and follow the mandatory traffic rules, even if it's in the middle of the night??? Man, I confirm will sue that guy in court for disobeying simple instructions if I ever come across him again... sibei qian bian. May that biker get arrested soon and get fined for his stupid mistakes...
Anyway, I reached home in time to watch results show of Campus Superstar Final 4. Mavis had been eliminated earlier on due to judges' scoreboards. I was mightily pissed cos Jarod was declared safe and need not go through the PK round... instead, there stood Ai Jia and Jiamin, both who were much more consistent and better than Jarod. Jiamin advanced to the grand finals, whereas Ai Jia would be ousted... but not for long. The hosts determined a susprise "last chance" revival round for 4 out of the 6 finalists who got eliminated during the past 2 weeks.
The finalists who will be performing next week are... Ai Jia, Benita, Rachel and Joselin. Only one of the 4 will be selected to advance to the Grand Finals on April 12th to compete with Jiamin and Jarod. Mavis and Ridhwan were ousted as a result of the judges' respective pickings. Guest stars for next Monday's show are the boys from Farenheit (Fei Lun Hai)... confirm the response from the FLH fanclub will be overwhelming to the max lor!! Therefore I'm staying out of this upcoming live recording totally; I got other stuff to attend to. I don't normally go after Taiwanese popbands, sorry. :-/
Regardless of which of the aforementioned 4 revival finalists will make it through to the Grand Finals, I have already made up my mind to place my bets on Jiamin to win, and I am gonna watch it from home rather than at MDC. History better not repeat itself from the joke that is in CSS 2!! Now I think I know why I didn't take pic with Shawn Tok the other time at the reception... that's bcos I still 'hadn't totally forgiven him' for winning the overall title of CSS 2. Ok, I wanna make one point clear to avoid any misunderstanding... I don't dislike Jarod, I'm totally cool with him, but it's just that I found him a bit too average... his performances are nowhere as powerful or consistent as those from Ai Jia or Jiamin. I will be speechless if Jarod were to win...
So fans and judges, do choose wisely which finalist you want to see clinch the title of Season 3 Campus Superstar.

Mystic Force Rangers collection

Happy Birthday to Ray "Jesse" Gordy and Cynthia Koh
Yeah before I get started, I am pretty much aware that there would be people who would laugh at me. "You so big already, still collect Power Rangers ah??" they may go. It's actually quite a common trait, since there are a few more Power Ranger collectors around the wolrd, suchas those at China Square Central (and some are older than me). You can go ahead and laugh at me all you want, but Im totally cool with it. The Power Rangers franchise is one of my top faves, and it will always be. :-)

The Mystic Rangers are a fictional team of superheroes in the television show Power Rangers: Mystic Force. Their powers are derived from beings known as the Ancient Titans, creatures with great elemental powers, symbolized by mythological creatures from various Earth mythologies on the Rangers' visors (phoenix, garuda, mermaid, sprite, minotaur).

Nick Russell the Red Mystic Ranger
Nick was the last member of the team to believe in and accept his magical powers, yet has the greatest potential for power, in that he is later discovered to be Bowen the Light, son of Leanbow and Udonna. Although he is assumed to be the leader, yet he is most reckless and emotional of the Power Rangers
Elemental power: Fire
Weapons: Mystic Sword
Zord form: Mystic Phoenix Titan. In this form, he forms the chest of Titan Megazord, Phoenix Centraur Megazord

Charlie "Chip" Thorn the Mystic Ranger
He was initially the only member of the team who believed in magic, vampires, and monsters, and was the most eager to become a Ranger. Chip can be somewhat emotional, theatrical, and away from his ease under various conditions
Elemental power: Lightning
Weapons: Mystic Crossbow, Mystic Lion Staff
Zord form: Mystic Garuda Titan, Mystic Lion

Xander Bly the Green Mystic Ranger
An Australian native moved to the United States when he was younger. Although he was initially bullied because of his accent and is sympathetic towards those who feel alone, he has since evolved into a charming and sometimes overconfident flirt.
Elemental power: Earth
Weapons: Mystic Axe, Mystic Lion Staff
Zord form: Mystic Minotaur Titan, Mystic Lion

Madison Rocca the Blue Mystic Ranger
The self-dubbed "sister with the common sense". Madison is an aspiring filmmaker and the most studious and kindest of the team, being able to befriend almost anybody.
Elemental power: Water
Weapons: Mystic Wand, Mystic Lion Staff
Zord form: Mystic Mermaid Titan, Mystic Lion

Vida Rocca the Pink Mystic Ranger
The younger and more tomboyish of the Rocca sisters. Vida enjoys being a DJ at the Rock-Porium.
Elemental power: Wind
Weapons: Mystic Wand, Mystic Lion Staff
Zord form: Mystic Phoenix Titan, Mystic Lion

Several of the Zords in Power Rangers: Mystic Force are actually the Mystic Rangers themselves (or their horses), transformed into mythological creatures. When the Rangers form their own Megazords, they appear in a cockpit, no longer part of their transformed state.

Titan Megazord
The Titan Megazord is the final combination of the Mystic Titans using spell code 1-2-6 Galwit Mysto Unios. While still technically the Titans themselves, inside the Megazord, the team appears in Ranger form and controls the Megazord from a Chess board cockpit, with each Ranger representing a chess Pawn. Wields the Titan Saber in battle, with which it performs its Mystic Spell Seal, Galaxy Slash, and Spirit of the Ancient Titans attacks. The Mystic Mermaid forms the legs, the Mystic Minotaur forms the torso, the head, and the arms, the Mystic Phoenix forms the chest, the Mystic Sprite forms the chest cavity, and the Mystic Garuda forms the wings.

Leanbow the White Wolf Warrior

Elemental power: Light (darkness as Koragg)
Weapon: Knight Saber, Shield of Light
He is able to transform into Titan size, and combine with his personal Zord Catastros to become Wolf Centaur Megazord.
(This figure is actually a repaint of Koragg the Knight Wolf, whose primary color is purple with black and gold accents.)

Catastros is a black Horse Zord controlled by Koragg the Knight Wolf. He is referred to in legend as the wild horse who could not be tamed. During the great war, Catastros was dragged into the depths of the underworld by Octomus and Koragg seemingly managed to tame it and gained Catastros as his personal Zord. To summon Catastros, Koragg recites the spell Uthe Mejor Catastros. It forms the lower half of the Knight Wolf Centaur mode while its head becomes Koragg's lance. For the Centaurus Wolf/Phoenix Megazord formation, Catastros forms the majority of the body while its tail & head each form the helmet for either formation while the other combines with the neck to form the Lance.

Brightstar is a white horse-like Zord very similar to Catastros, with the noticeable exception that Brightstar is a Unicorn, as the large golden horn on her forehead indicates. She can travel between dimensions, including the Underworld, and can combine with the Mystic Phoenix to become the Phoenix Unizord. Brightstar is apparently an old friend of Daggeron. She also looks more lifelike.

Phoenix Unizord
The Phoenix Unizord is the combination of the Mystic Phoenix and Brightstar. It is essentially a white version of the Centaurus Phoenix Megazord. Brightstar's head forms the lance and its tail combines with the Mystic Phoenix to become the Megazord's head. Brightstar's body forms the majority of the Megazord mode. Its signature attack has it flying into the sky and then falling back down again head first with his staff with the Unicorn head end, called the Final Strike. It was only used once ever, that being in "Heir Apparent II" when it was used to destroy the Chimera. Before combining with Brightstar, the Mystic Phoenix's color changes to have more gold accents.

Sad news and suay-ness... :-(

Happy Birthday to Vincent Tan and Jasmine Ho
Start of the Aries Star

A lot of bad stuff had been happening nowadays... mostly in South-east Asia. What is this world coming to? :-(((

Monday... A drunk jaywalker crossed a busy expressway (PIE) and caused the death of a motorcyclist (Mr Naidu), who was flung off his bike upon colliding with a car and got pinned under the front wheels of a lorry. Despite the lorry driver's and other drivers' best efforts to free Mr Naidu, the poor fella died within 15 minutes. The jaywalker, who had suffered minor injuries, had been arrested and could be charged for creating traffic chaos and causing Mr Naidu's death as a result of his rash actions. SHAME ON HIM!!!

Tuesday... Madam Goh Lai Eng has been arrested for murdering her own daughter Eunice Chew in their two-room flat in the middle of the night. She is believed to be mentally unstable.

Wednesday... A Tesco retail manager in Penang was shot and killed by robbers when he and his colleague tried to stop them from getting away with stolen jewellery (RM 250,000) from Tesco Extra Shopping Mall.

Thursday... A 23-yr old clerk, who was to wed her policeman fiance on Saturday, was slashed to death alongside her father in their home in Seremban, Negri Sembilan.

Last week... A 73-yr-old lady (Mdm Chui) who had been married to a 96-yr old man (Mr Pang) for more than 20 years discovered that he has been committing bigmy all along, and he had to pay her $20K in terms of the suit. Serves that old fogey right for his sheer dishonest and stupidity!!

Our deepest condolences to the families of the following individuals who had just passed on...
- Andrew Martin, retired wrestler known as Test during his tenure in the WWE. He was found dead in his aprtment on March 13th. He was to turn 34 last Tuesday.
- Ron Silver, veteran actor... he died of esophageal cancer last Sunday (March 15th), at the age of 62.
- Natasha Richardson, English stage/screen actress and wife of Liam Neeson. She died at age 45 on Wednesday from head injuries from a skiing accident which occurred 2 days prior.
-Jade Goody, British reality TV personality, lost the battle to cervical cancer earlier today, about a month after her marriage to Jack Tweed... she was only 27 yrs of age. :-(((

Spring of Bloom event at Bugis Junction

I left the house at abt 11 am earlier today to let Bro mop the floor, took train to VivoCity and had early lunch there. Then I met up with the committee members of the Elvinology fanclub, renewed my membership along with a friend's. After watching the slideshows for various gatherings in the past 3 years, I bade the committee frewell and set off to Bugis Junction, to see Fiona of course :-)

The male models who strutted the makeshift catwalk weren't very good-looking IMO... Fiona came at 3.45 pm, and she picked 3 male volunteers to do catwalk. Syazali happened to be one of them, haha!! Pity Fiona didn't seem to notice me as she was about to leave, but that's ok. I stayed behind a little longer to wait for the Playboy Bunny Gals. Turns out that they weren't as cute as I thought (but they were quite hot lah... one quite busty and the other quite leggy). If I remember correctly, the Eurasian one with nice legs is named Melissa Pinto or something... I recognized her as a New Paper New Face finalist (year 2003 I think). I was already too tired to go anywhere else, so I took a bus back home and slacked on the computer as usual.
