My thoughts on "Angels and Demons"

Yesterday after knocking off from a busy day at work, I went to Iluma once more, this time to watch "Angels and Demons", sequel to the much lauded 2006 film "Da Vinci Code". Obviously the film is a lot different from the novel, for some important plots have been removed to avoid controversy among the Catholic Church (like how the film adaptation of "The Da Vinci Code" did with the myth of Jesus being "married" to Mary Magdalene and having descendants; that plot alone was absolutely stupid).

It all starts with the death of the original pope as well as an antimatter canister being stolen from the CERN labs. Worst of all, the 4 cardinals touted as hot favorites to succeed the late pope had been kidnapped and placed at indifferent historical landmarks. The carmalengo Patrick McKenna played by Ewan "Obi-Wan" MacGregor seemed to be a'n angel of sorts' when he assisted Robert Langdon (played by the versatile Tom Hanks), Vittoria Vetra (played by some hot Israeli babe
named Ayelet Zurer) and the FBI in locating the stolen antimatter canister, then flying a helicopter as high as possible and escaping from it in a parachute before the canister exploded in midair, preventing a calamity from occurring at Vatican City. But then Langdon and Dr Vetra eventually found out the truth that Patrick was behind the death of the previous pope as well as 3 of 4 cardinals (each branded with marks of the 4 elements, disposed of by a hired assassin who looked a bit like Christian Cage), and that he was also behind the theft of the antimatter canister... he did all this with hopes that he could be ordained as the new Pope. Which means to say that instead of being the so-called savior proclaimed by the people, Patrick was actually a demon in nature (something like a 'wolf in sheep's clothing')... to think that he could repay the sincerity of the papal conclave by hurting them and plotting against them. And when Patrick realized that his secret had been exposed, he chose the coward's way out by immolating himself in the basement of the church.

Overall this film is many times better than "The Da Vinci Code", not to forget more action-paced and suspense. I found the crazy dash across the various streets of Italy somewhat like a 'wild goose chase'... but had it not been for the bravery and quick wit of Robert Langdon, the church would still be kept in the dark on Patrick's evil plans. Best part of all was, the public never got to know the actual truth, and that's probably the best way to salvage the reputation of the church. I rate this film 7 out of 10 stars, quite worth the watch for anyone ranging from Christian believers to people who would love to go to Rome on holiday. I myself would love to go to Rome too :-)

P.S. Firdaus is truly a demon due to what he did... I could go on mentioning a few more names who share a similar trait, but truth is I'd rather be putting a lot more focus on the angels (from true friends to fellow Christians to fave artistes) who have left a lasting impression to me. In a good sense that is :-)

Shocking discovery over a murder case...

Happy Birthday to Candyce Toh

I was horrified to read the news of a heartless man being sentenced for beating up and killing the son of his girlfriend in today's copy of The New Paper... I was even more horrified when I saw the name and the photo of the monster responsible for the boy's death...

FIRDAUS ABDULLAH. He happened to be from the same unit as myself during NS!!! :-O

I don't know this Firdaus well, mostly due to the fact that his ORD came abt 4 mths after I joined SOCE MTL at Nee Soon Camp. I only knew him to be a rather quiet, patient and humble fella who got along quite well with the other people from the same batch as himself. Little would we know that in the years to come, he would become a hot-tempered and violent person in years to come, all because of his jealousy and inability to control his emotions. It shouldn't come as any surprise that people can change all of a sudden, but his fall from grace is the last thing I could ever imagine.

According to the New Paper, Firdaus was in a steady relationship with his girlfriend N (names shortened to protect their identities) who had been separated from her ex-husband (father of the boy), but he got jealous in late 2007 bcos she seemed to be closer to her son Iz than to him. As a result, he became hot-tempered and bitter, and he often got into arguments with N, til she couldn't take it anymore and wanted him to get out of the house so she can find Iz a better stepfather.

Then on 14th January 2008, N made the fatal mistake by leaving Iz under the care of Firdaus, while she went to court to settle her divorce proceedings. And that's when Firdaus let his anger get the better of him... what he did to the poor boy (who was to turn 3 on that fateful day), it is too horrifying and inhumane to even elaborate here. But I can tell you that Iz's injuries were so severe, he was declared brain-dead and died in hospital 4 lays later without recovering.

What Firdaus did was absolutely unforgivable and too shocking beyond comprehension. Instead of getting the death sentence for murder, the charge placed on him earlier this week was reduced to causing grevious hurt and ill-treating a helpless child. 7 years in jail and 12 strokes is all that the heartless Firdaus would be slapped with, but even that isn't gonna bring the poor boy back to life. The grief felt by the boy's parents is something that will take many years to get over with. All because of one person who became a monster and snuffed out their only son within a few days. I would prefer it if he got life imprisonment instead. With a criminal record such as this, there will be no second chance for Firdaus, and he will be forever labelled as a bane of humanity. Who knows he might end his own life like the Malaysian guy who killed his girlfriend's daughter?

This is the second time I had heard of someone I know get a criminal record, the first one being an former secondary schoolmate of mine being jailed for molest and robbery some 8 years ago. I may not know what happened to many of the other people I have come across in my life, but I certainly hope I don't hear a similar case such as this again in the near future.

At last, a job!!

Happy Birthday to Ya Hui and Juin Jack

I believe it must have been pre-planned by God that I secured my first full-time job at a Christian book warehouse. I can't exactly state the name of the warehouse, but i can tell you that it is located somewhere at the West region... and the best part is, I can take a direct bus straight home after work! Indeed my patience had paid off after 3 mths of unemployment. But I am currently under 3 mths probation, and due to the fact that I work 5.5 days per week (9 to 6 for weekdays, half day on Sat depending on shifts) and can only use the com at night, I will be blogging less frequently. I realized that too much use of Internet time can distort my mindset and rob me of my main priorities. So praise the Lord that I could get this job, and I am sure this is a good opportunity to be better at managing my time as well as to walk closer with God, so long as I continue to believe in good things to come. :-)

P.S. There's something else that I found out, but it's too confidential to even be shared with anyone.

Alive event at Tampines Mall

The turnout for this event at the Open Plaza of Tampines Mall was quite a disappointment... perhaps not many people knew about this event, esp since it was held at the 'unseen region' of Tampines Mall. The most memorable time I went there was when the Wildcard contestants for Singapore Idol season 2 graced the stage for autograph session. I got to the place at abt 4.25 pm, and saw a few youngsters sing other songs. The plump Malay girl sang "Take A Bow", she obviously sounded a lot better than Rihanna (who can forget the 60 minutes of disappointment last year). Then there's this rather geeky guy who sang 3 songs, all in overkill mode. But he did quite well for the last song "You Raise Me Up".

Finally at around 1655 hrs, Jasmine came out to perform! I forgot the name of the Chinese song she sang, but I certainly know that the second song she sang was Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You". She still looked as 'cutey cutey' as before, last time I saw her was at NUS for Stardust semi-finals. Oh yes, her parents were rooting for her at the Open Plaza as well. :-)

And yep, I obviosuly did take picture with her! After that, Jasmine took group picture with the volunteers... I find the last 2 girls quite sweet too (blushes). After Jasmine and her manager left the place, Ishardi and I had dinner at the food court located at the same level. Then we went separate routes back home.

WWE Judgment Day 2009

Here are the matches for WWE Judgment Day 2009...

First match to be confirmed was the WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and Batista. Orton had defeated Triple H at Backlash in a Six-Man Tag Team match to become the new WWE Champion. Batista on the other hand had become No 1 contender after a count-out victory over the Big Show on the Raw episode following Backlash, and he is seething for revenge on the Legend Killer for putting him out of action those months ago.

On the April 28th episode of ECW, the ECW Interim GM Tiffany announced that ECW Champion Christian would be defending his title against Jack Swagger, the very person whom Captain Charisma had beaten for the title at Backlash.

The Rated-R Superstar Edge will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship, which he won from John Cena in a Last Man Standing Match at Backlash, against Jeff Hardy, who earned the No 1 contender spot after defeating Kane, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho in a Fatal-4-Way Elimination match.

The 4th match to be confirmed was John Cena vs the Big Show. During the Last Man Standing match at Backlash, then-champion Cena was attacked by the Big Show and thrown through a 7000-watt searchlight, leading to Cena being incapacitated and losing the title to Edge, as well as sustaining internal injuries. During the match to determine the No 1 contender for the WWE Championship on Raw the next night, Cena entered the arena and distracted Big Show long enough to cause him to be counted out and lose the match to Batista. The following week on Raw, Big Show demanded a match against Cena, only to have Raw GM Vickie Guererro set up a match between the two at Judgment Day.

The fith match to be confirmed was CM Punk vs Umaga. Punk had won the Money In The Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXV, which meant that he earned the right to challenge any world champion at any time over the course of the year. On the May 1st episode of Smackdown, PunkWorld Champion Edge following a non-title victory, when Umaga suddenly barged in and assaulted him. The same thing happened a week later, and with that Punk challenged the Samoan Bulldozer in a one-on-one match at Judgment Day.

Sixth match was the Intercontinental Championship match between Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho. Jericho was complaining about the lack of respect that he got from the fans and how he was robbed of the No 1 contender spot in the Fatal-4-way elimination match on the May 1st episode of Smackdown. On the May 8th taping of Smackdown, he had a match against Jeff Hardy, under the stipulation that should Jericho win, then the World Heavyweight Championship match at Judgment Day would become a Triple Threat. Rey Mysterio, who was at Jeff's corner, distracted Jericho and that led to Jeff winning the match. Mysterio then attacked Jericho after the match, and the match was announced in the WWE website the next day.

The last match to be confirmed was John Morrison vs Shelton Benjamin. The "Shaman of Sexy" had become a fan favorite since he got drafted to Smackdown, and Shelton was not too pleased with Morrison's arrival. During a match between Morrison and Jericho on WWE Superstars, Shelton appeared in a video footage which distracted Morrison and cost him the victory. Yet in subsequent weeks, Morrison had Shelton's number by defeating him twice (as3well as victory over Shelton's longtime friend Charlie Haas) in the week leading up to Judgment Day.
was about to cash-in his match against

Canon Powershot seminar

Happy Birthday to Geraldine Chua

Earlier today, I went to Raffles City Convention Centre to attend some seminar on Canon digicams. The 4 people sharing tips on getting amazing results from a compact digital camera (be it Canon or some other brand) are Yes 933 deejay Bukoh Mary, actor Thomas Ong, Canon expert Mr Jino Lee and renowned food blogger Dr Leslie Tay. Amazing pictures of various scenery and people of different cultures (eg the monks of Bhutan).

Dedication to a few mei nus once more

Happy Birthday to Zack Ryder, Loh Zhiyang and Meiyan

I dedicate this song primarily to Miss CC and and Miss XH whom I long to see again. I know I'm very lag, but I only just found out that this song sung by Westlife for their "Face to Face" album was the very same one covered by Nick Carter. So which version is better, the original or the remake? Up to you to decide ;-) And I'm still thinking of which BSB song to put up next time...

Heart Without A Home- Nick Carter

(Also sung by Westlife in 2005)

Girl I love to watch you
You're like candy to my eyes
Like a movie that you've seen
But you gotta watch just one more time
But that smile you're wearing
It's a beautiful disguise
It's just something you put on to hide the emptiness inside

And you seem so lonely

But you don't have to anymore

[Chorus]
If you're a heart without a home
Rebel without a cause
If you feel as though
You're always stranded on the shore
Like a thief in the night
Let me steal your heart away
Baby if a reason's what you're looking for

I'll be yours...

I'll be yours... ooh ooh

You'll need a new sensation
One you never had before
I got a feeling if I gave you some
You'd probably want some more
Did you know that baby
You're the bluebird in my sky
I only wanna make you happy cause
I love to see you fly

And if you feel lonely
You don't have to anymore

[Chorus]

I'll be yours, I'll be yours... I'll be yours

I'll be the raft in the tide
I'll be yours
I'll be the truth in the lie
And what's more
When no one opens the door
I'll be the hope that you're looking for

If you're a heart without a home
Rebel without a cause
If you feel as though
You're always stranded on the shore
Like a thief in the night
Let me steal your heart away
Baby if a reason's what you're looking for
If you're a heart without a home
Rebel without a cause
If you feel as though
You're always stranded on the shore
Like a thief in the night
Let me steal your heart away
Baby if a reason's what you're looking for
I'll be yours... I'll be yours

Watching a damn cool movie :-)

About one month has passed since the drastic results of that talent show known as CSS 3. I'm not saying that the results were unjustified, but rather, I feel that things could have worked out a lot better if the judges were more rational in our choosing. In this way, we would have seen a more worthy female winner like Jiamin instead of that sqeaky-voiced brat whose voice is still gonna break anyway. Whatever the case, I'm not gonna brood too much over this 'travesty' (as some might call it), there's simply no point getting bitter over such stuff for too long. Besides, I've got better things to look forward to...

Better things like... the movie that I watched on Monday afternoon at Iluma. None other than the Star Trek prequel. Although I'm not really a Star Trek fan (having watched a few movies and a bit of "Star Trek: the New Generation"), I had made it a point to catch this film the moment I first heard of it. Amazing chemistry betwwn Chris Pine (playing the cunning and laidback James T. Kirk) and Zachary "Sylar" Quinto (playing the Vulcan-human hybrid Spock). Special effects are totally breathtaking, and storyline on Nero seeking revenge quite well-defined. Eric Bana gets thumbs-up for his portrayl as the vengeful and malicious Romulan Captain Nero. Indeed JJ Abrams has boldly gone where no man has gone before. This is a must-watch for all, even those who may not be a Trekkie like myself. I rate it 9 out of 10 points. :-)

More thoughts on that abomination

Rated M-18 for coarse language and hate content

Even though I may seem like a 'nice and forgiving kind of person', the truth is I am still constantly struggling with my 'anarchy side'... this is something that nearly all of us have to go through. So readers, please bear with me while I pour out my thoughts on the same ol' jackass who would never change for the better. It's no use for me to bottle up my anger and resentment for too long.

Haha my great effort in gooming had paid off. =) I like the way i am now. =) I have received too much compliments about my looks that i am totally immune to it already! I will still feel happy getting compliments every now and then. =) And i thank you guys for that! =)''with a cute face and a hot bod, more flies and butterflies will flock to you ;)'' LOL!Hahahahahahah i think i am cute lah? If not how come people always say im cute instead of handsome? HAHA! Damn vain and thick skin loh! XD

Excause me, you dare call yourself "humble"?? Exactly what is your 'definition' of "humble"?? Taking way too many pictures of yourself instead of your loved ones??? Thinking yourself as 'cute', and going "lol" way too often??? Awww please, I so feel like puking on you the enxt time I see you.

Now that you took up canoeing as a CCA and constantly suffer from muscle aches, I seriously hope that your arm muscles burst into fragments someday!! And to think that you can get the name of Singapore's Most Wanted Fugitive WRONG!!! You call him "Mas Selamak"??? You are seriously one big BD!!! A BD who should not be given another chance. And I do hope the government shows Mas Selamat any mercy this time round, given his intentions to attack certain landmarks in Singapore.

You better not let me see you at Plaza Singapura or at RG on 24th May, otherwise I will show you no mercy! (I shall stop my dissing for now)

And neither will I let off anyone who dares question my motives of making this entry (but you are free to leave a comment)!! I already mentioned that I am struggling with my bestial side and trying my darnest to be more forgiving to anyone whom I dislike... isn't that already good enough a reason? I would have done the unthinkable by making this entire blog private, but that would only lead to a no-win situation. I really hope you all understand what I mean.

Pictures taken at Tampines Courts Megastore

Happy Birthday to Kay Lee, Soowei and Meixuan
Here are the pictures taken during the Courts Digital roadshow on Saturday evening as promised... enjoy! ;-)

This European babe who was involved in some photoshoot prior to the actual Courts Digital event looked kinda hot... in fact, the longer I looked at her, the tighter my pants got. WHOOPS!!! :-X
And yep, this is the main highlight for the entry.

Very cute and sexy gals... I felt like pinching the slightly shorter one on the right :-)
