Destinaton X tomorrow!

Date: 22nd August 2009
Time: 1800 to 2000 hrs
Venue: To be revealed in Straits Times

“Most Original Illusionists”
2009 Merlin Award winners and current world record holders for “Most Number of Illusions Performed in 5 Minutes”, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning, will be attempting their biggest teleportation mega illusion ever in a few weeks by teleporting a full-sized car from one location to another.

This latest mega illusion is set to take place on 22 Aug 2009, Sat at 6pm as the grand finale to The Straits Times 164th anniversary event organized by the Singapore Press Holdings.

The exact location of this event will only be revealed in The Straits Times (newspaper ad) on the 22nd of August 2009.

Entitled “Destination X”, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ will try to teleport a 1.4 ton Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI in 8.5 seconds, in front of an expected turnout of 5000 people.

The car will be teleported from one location to another that is marked with a large "X” on the ground. A ring of close-up witnesses will surround this “Destination X”.

The exact location of the teleportation destination will only be made known to spectators upon their arrival at the event ground.

J C & Ning have spent two years designing the illusion ever since Volkswagen first suggested the idea to them in 2007.

Enough with the surgery rumors already!!

Happy Birthday to Naomi and Joanne Helix

Taken from MediaCorp Buzz section...

A remark made by local MediaCorp artiste Dasmond Koh, was recently taken out of context and blown out of proportions by the local media. In response to the accusations made against her, local MediaCorp actress Felicia Chin expressed thanks to her supportive fans under a blog entry titled ‘Thankful’. She shared her helpless feelings on this matter and reassured fans that she “will not be defeated and will stand stronger.”

In an interview, Felicia was forthright in her replies and felt that the plastic surgery issue has been harped on one too many times. “Everyone has an answer in their hearts. If you believe me, thank you. If you don’t believe me, then I am unable to control that either. I don’t have to prove anything to anybody, as long as you believe in me, it’s enough.

The actress expressed knowledge and confirmed that she knew of Dasmond’s joking replies in his interview. However, she felt that it was outrageous for the reporter to take his words out of context. “Initially when I read the report, I felt a little emotional. Shortly after, Dasmond responded to the report and clarified that he was joking and that the surgery jobs were not real. After which, I feel that there wasn’t anything for me to be afraid of or hide from because what he said is not true.”

“I felt really helpless and upset because the report was not written from what was said. I have lost confidence in such reports. I find it even harder to judge between what is real and fake now,” she confided.

Felicia understands that it is inevitable for artistes to be plagued with such gossip, however she said, “It is hurtful to be criticized and to remain under the constant scrutiny and attention of others. At the end, we are still the ones who have to face these people.” Despite the hurt inflicted on her from this matter, the easy-going actress bears no grudges against Dasmond. “Since it has already happened, we should let it go. I will not be bitter over this, I will look forward.”

Her optimism and love for acting still clearly shows despite being jaded from this entire hullabaloo. The sense of satisfaction derived from acting and her fans’ endearing support are her two main sources of motivation.

As a fan-cum-friend of Felicia for more than 3 years, I am greatly peeved off by this news, the latest in a series of reports speculating on whether Fel had undergone plastic surgery. Seriously speaking, the rumors are getting boring and plain ridiculous, so much that they must come to an end.
Felicia's appearance as Princess Cherry in an episode of "A Perfect Cut" is enough proof that she. did. not. go. for. plastic. surgery. at. all. And I also felt that the rumors on Joanne Peh getting boob enhancement, thought at a less controversial degree, are getting just as tasteless. It's not as if Felicia had done a boob job like what Jolin Tsai was rumored to have done, or even undergone a drastic head-to-toe transformation like what ermm, the late Michael Jackson had gone through, right? Is there anything wrong with a girl morphing from Plain Jane to a glamor puss? I feel for Fel cos I worry that if the situation doesn't improve, she may end up a paparazzi target like the late MJ, even though the media situation here is nowhere as hazardous as that in Hongkong or Taiwan (I wonder if that reporter who blew Dasmond's remark out of proportion with very little hint of mercy has any GONADS or not... I can only say that he is VERY WEIRD)

(Speaking about Felicia being hurt by Dasmond's remarks, it reminded me clearly of the time when my tongue went loose on that fateful night of April 28th last year, and that incident nearly made her cry, and hurt me even more. Took me nearly a month to recover from the trauma even though she had forgiven me... I shan't elaborate any further.)

That's the ugly reality of showbiz, there'll always be reporters who will either make you or break you, as long as you're a well-known personality. And the paparazzi who would try to make venomous reports by making a mountain out of a molehill on surgery rumors, paternity suits or child molest accusations (to name a few headline-grabbers) are the true abominations of the entertainment world they have been part of, obviously got nothing else better to do (chi bao mei shi zuo, you may say). It all boils down on how you can handle the pressure of fame, and how tactful you are at shooting back at their accusations, depending on the difficulty level of the questions. Not to forget how some celebs these days are obsessed with self-mutilation via plastic surgery or taking painkillers.

Thankfully for us Felicians, Felicia wasn't among those artistes who joined showbiz at a very young age (eg MJ, Donny Osmond) and got warped by fame when they reach adulthood... it's rather unlikely that the kind of Shakespearean tragedy which happened to some HK artistes (too many to name) or American singers (eg MJ, Elvis, Britney) would take its toll on Felicia, Joanne, or any other MDC celeb for that matter... I mean, look at the more seasoned artistes like Zoe and Michelle Chia... they're still standing strong after all these years, aren't they?

To quote a line from "Tabloid Junkie", a song written by the King of Pop himself (along with James Harris and Terry Lewis) for the 1995 studio album "HIStory"...
"Just because you read it in a magazine, or see it on the TV screen, don't make it factual, actual... though everybody wants to read all about it."

To the reporters who still think that Felicia or any other artiste have undergone the knife, I have only this to say to you... you're so damn DISRESPECTABLE.

Swearing off close involvements with SI 3

Happy Birthday to Desmond Tan, Stella and Carolyn
What, Christy Chung is pregnant again?!?! LOLL!!!

Finally, I can f'ing continue to upload pictures in the required photo albums on Facebook!!!

It is indeed true that while I may still continue to watch Singapore Idol on a regular basis on TV (like what I did last night), I have vowed not to attend any live recording at MediaCorp, or be heavily involved in any of the roadshows, should MDC have enough money and sponsor to hold such in first place. I'm not even gonna bother adding any of the finalists on Facebook this time round, like what I did with most of the finalists for Season 2. I am already past that phase of following SI at close proximity, and I have come to realize that not everything is what it seems. And to be honest, I have built stronger bonds with MediaCorp artistes than with the S'pore Idol finalists (save for a few) over the last 3 years or so. And yes, I am still having mixed feelings about this batch of Idol hopefuls even now.

Call me heartless if you like, but I was rather dismayed when a few of the finalists (abt 3 of them I think) actually kicked me off their Friendster/Facebook list in a moment of sheer randomness, beyond reasoning (they're not the only ones to do that btw). Since they refuse to accept me back after failed attempts of requesting, I had no choice but to leave them alone for good, it's pointless for me to get bitter over trivial matters. I won't bother about them even if one of them showed up on national TV during the 2009 National Day Parade (yes Gayle, I'm talking about YOU!!!).

And seeing how contestants like Samantha and Jason (to name a few) have made a very bad impression during the journey by either coming with lousy excuses on why they come late for the theater rounds or showing bad attitude before the Top 80 rounds, I seriously can't see myself befriending any of the finalists via Facebook within the near future. That and a handful of Idol hopefuls who won't take no for an answer, kept begging the judges for one more chance when they already screwed up so badly. Goes to show how desperate they are in becoming the next Singapore Idol. And to be truthful, I can't even name 10 individuals who got the potential to make it big in the competition, let alone 5.

And one more thing... because the guest star for next Wednesday's CelebriTea Break is one of my fave actresses, I have decided that I may be spending more time watching Channel U than Channel 5. What's there to lose? If the final 2 for this season's Singapore Idol are going to be guys once more like the past 2 seasons... that's really the end.

Fb screwed up, plus more cute shots of Bonnie

Happy Birthday to Charlie and Wendy
Damnit, my Facebook account is a little screwed up, I can't even get past the Upload Photos button protocol. Looks like I need to go to the cyber cafe soon to continue uploading the pics...

In the meantime, I am dam
n f'ing happy to read from The New Paper that Tng Jie Min, the 12-yr old girl who was in a coma after being knocked down by a taxi on 5th August, just days before the NDP show, had miraculously recovered from her coma (praise the Good Lord!!). And yes, she woke up on National Day itself, halleluiah!! (But why did TNP relay the message so late one?!?) It's really wonderful and miraculous that Jie Min recovered, to spare the heartache from her parents and siblings as well as her classmates and teachers, as well as the whole of Singapore who were moved by this piece of news. The taxi driver would still have to compensate to the family for causing the accident no matter what... but I personally feel that it's best for that loser to be FIRED!!! ComfortDelGro should never, ever give him second chance for robbing the xiaomeimei of her dreams to grace the stage for the NDP show, and nearly robbing her of her life with this inconsiderate and reckless act... I shall never look at taxi drivers the same way again.

On my way back home from work earlier today, I saw Bonnie sleeping near the lift lobby as usual... but what I saw truly amazed me (it was rather cute, I thought). Lol, someone actually left a cigarette near Bonnie?? Or was it already there by mere coincidence at the time when Bonnie decided to catch 40 winks at said region? Or don't tell me... Bonnie was "smoking" (no wonder she's so fat and lazy)??? NAHHH CAN'T BE LAH... nevertheless, I cautiously picked up the cigarette and flung it very far away from where Bonnie was napping. I then proceeded to give Bonnie a nice pat on the head. I can't afford to see such offending stuff near an innocent creature like Bonnie (esp since cigarettes were the main cause behind my uncle's passing 4 years back). Seems like Bonnie is the only cat left for me to confide in, esp since I hadn't seen Visuel and Felix (the other 2 cats I adore) for nearly 2 weeks already... don't tell me they've gone to 'the same place' that er, Michael Jackson did? :-(((

Times of great joy and happiness during the weekend

Happy Birthday to Dennis Chew aka "Aunty Lucy"!!

I had a swell of a time during the weekend... this was what I did. :-)

Saturday (yesterday)
After knocking off from work at 1 plus, I went to Suntec Convention to attend the 2009 SGTCC (Singapore Games, Toys and Comics Convention) located at Halls 402 to 403. There was a lot of focus on GI Joe as well as Transformers, I also saw toys linked to Star Wars and Japan anime characters. Cosplay characters included a Bumbleb
ee babe, another Ghostbuster babe, Batman (the infamous Joel Schumacher edition), The Joker from "The Dark Knight", Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn (so fat one xiah), Wolverine, Master Chief from Halo video game, Predators, Nuata from "Hellboy 2", Star Trek team, Alice in Wonderland, plenty of Stormtroopers, Imperial Officer Babe, Freddy Kreuger babe, Boba Fett, Obi-Wan & Darth Maul V2, Mario & Luigi, even Blinky the Pacman Ghost?? In the Group category, it was the Jedi-vs-Sith pair that came up tops. For Singles Category, 3rd place went to Bill the Colonel, 2nd place went to the Halo soldier, and 1st place went to ermmm... Blinky from Pacman?? WTH... the win is as controversial as the results for Campus Superstar 3, enough said. After staying on til 6 plus, me and Shan went to have dinner at the kopi tiam near Bras Basah Complex, then went to Iluma for a while, before heading back home.

Sunday (today)
After going for church service in the morning (it was Missions week), I took train to Lavender region to meet up with the other Naturals. The 26 of us boarded a coa
ch to the secret place...

Lo and behold, the venue for the birthday party is at the SINGAPORE FLYER!!! :-O

We celebrated Nat's birthday in advance, got into a singing frenzy that went awry, cut out paper dolls and went into the Flyer with him in 2 groups (it was the very first time experience on the Flyer for many of us). At one point of time before we took turns to board the Flyer, Nat was so touched by the present given to him by the committee, he actually broke down, and some of us fans (myself included) found ourselves getting teary-eyed as well. Event started at 1 plus and ended a few minutes after 6. It was truly a great way to spend the weekend, many thanks to the Nat fc committee for making this gathering a special one.

Upcoming events and thoughts on a certain babe...

Happy Birthday to...
14th August- Jumali, Shirley, Jun Hao
15th August- Madeline, Mishelle, Xing Yu, Gracia, Candice

Friday is coming to an end, and that means the weekend is coming!! And I have plenty of reason to rejoice...

- Singapore Toys, Games and Comic Convention Fair 2009 at Suntec Convention Level 4, lasting from Friday to Sunday. Expect plenty of Storm Troopers, Marvel Heroes and other Cosplay indivduals.

- Nat Ho's birthday bash on Sunday afternoon!!! :-)

If I have to be a little frank about one thing, thank God that she chose to quit from the company I am currently working in, since late last month that is. Not that I mean to be rude, but even if she were to stay a little longer, she would most definitely give our company a bad name with her portfolio (esp since she's from S Factor). Indeed it was most surprising to spot her in a website showing her clad in... strapless push-up bra (LOLLL!!). And I thought she should be looking after her kid instead? If you wanna know my point, please go to www.nubra.sg (WHOOPS!!!) :-X

With that, I dedicate this song to my former colleague, as well as to the MJ fans, and also to a certain Miss Woon JL who turns 24 today... one who tried to "manjaa" me at Bugis Junction back when I was still working for EBIS, within the first week that is. This is the very song I dedicated to her back then, and I shall do it again. ;-)

DANGEROUS- Michael Jackson

(Spoken)
The Way She Came Into The Place, I Knew Right Then And There
There Was Something Different About This Girl
The Way She Moved, Her Hair, Her Face, Her Lines
Divinity In Motion
As She Stalked The Room I Could Feel
The Aura Of Her Presence
Every Head Turned Feeling Passion And Lust
The Girl Was Persuasive
The Girl I Could Not Trust
The Girl Was Bad, The Girl Was Dangerous

I Never Knew But I Was Walking The Line (Hee!)
Come Go With Me, I Said I Have No Time (Hee hee!)
And Don't You Pretend We Didn't Talk On The Phone (Hee!)
My Baby Cried, She Left Me Standing Alone (Ooh! Ooh!)

She's So Dangerous! The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee!)
Take Away My Money, Throw Away My Time
You Can Call Me Honey, But You're No Damn Good For Me!

(Spoken)
She Came At Me In Sections With The Eyes Of Desire
I Fell Trapped Into Her Web Of Sin
A Touch, A Kiss, A Whisper Of Love
I Was At The Point Of No Return
Deep In The Darkness Of Passion's Insanity
I Felt Taken By Lust'sStrange Inhumanity
This Girl Was Persuasive, This Girl I Could Not Trust
The Girl Was Bad, The Girl Was Dangerous!

I Never Knew, But I Was Living In Vain (Hee!)
She Called My House, She Said You Know My Name (You got me!)
And Don't You Pretend You Never Did Me Before (Hee!)
With Tears In Her Eyes, My Baby Walked Out The Door

She's So Dangerous! The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee!)
Take Away My Money, Throw Away My Time
You Can Call Me Honey But You're No Damn Good For Me!
Dangerous! The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee!)
I Have To Pray To God Cause I Know How Lust Can Blind
There's A Passion In My Soul,
But You're No Damn Lover Friend Of Mine

I Cannot Sleep Alone At Night
My Baby Left Me Here Tonight
I Cannot Cope 'Til It's All Right
You And Your Manipulation, You Hurt My Baby!

(Spoken)
And Then It Happened, She Touched Me
For The Lips Of A Strange Woman
Drop As A Honeycomb
And Her Mouth Was Smoother Than Oil
But Her Inner Spirit And Words
Were As Sharp As A Two-Edged Sword
But I Loved It', Cause It's Dangerous!

Dangerous! The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee)
Take Away My Money, Throw Away My Time
You Can Call Me Honey, But You're No Damn Good For Me!
Dangerous, The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee)
Take Away My Money, Throw Away My Time (Oh no!)
You Can Call Me Honey, But You're No Damn Good For Me!
Dangerous, The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee)
Take Away My Money, Throw Away My Time (Oh yeah)
You Can Call Me Honey, But You're No Damn Good For Me!
Dangerous! The Girl Is So Dangerous! (Hee hee... Hoo!)
I Have To Pray To God 'Cause I Know How Lust Can Blind
There's A Passion In My Soul

My honest and quick thoughts abt the Singapore Idol auditions

Happy Birthday to Eelyn Kok, Gavriil Skaros and Garfield

Indeed watching the thrills and spills during the audition rounds for Singapore Idol season 3 on TV is something I truly missed seeing, following a 3-year hiatus. The number of rejects have increased greatly, and there was more focus on these 'unsung heroes' than the good ones who made it through. If any of you Michael Jackson detractors think that the recently deceased King of Pop was strange, then you have gotta take a look at these individuals!! Btw, there was a lot of focus on the 3 judges Dick, Flo and Ken (thank God that Jacintha didn't make her return), much more than on Gurmit and Hady.

Here are some of the more memorable (and truly WEIRD) auditionees who failed to make the cut...

- First and foremost, who would have thought that Patrick Khoo aka the Careless Whisperer would turn up for a third time in a row?? Thaknfully, he sang a little more audibly than before, but his singing still CMI lah, and his onscreen presence lasted for less than a minute. Strike Three, you're out!! Your 6 years of fame are up, and if you're not down with that, then I go TWO WORDS for ya... BEAT IT!!
Weirdness factor: 2.5 out of 5 (mostly cos he had outstayed his welcome)

- This guy who dressed up as the lead vocalist of the fictional Detroit Metal City band (as seen in the 2008 film of the same name) is truly one very bizzare attention seeker. Not only did he draw lots of stares, he even made a poor infant boy cry! The song of his choice, which is totally different from nearly left the already horrified judges in stitches. Weirdness factor: 5 out of 5, obviously!!

- Some of the unsung heroes actually made a microphone motion during their audition bits, as in they hold their clenched fists in front of their mouths and sing, as if they are singing karaoke or performing in a live concert. That is enough proof that they think too far ahead from where they are currently. This Mr OrangE is no exception (I shall not mention his real name, but I think some of you already know who I mean)... Mr OrangE totally butchered Westlife's "More Than Words" with his monotonous voice and the mike-in-hand motion, and the 3 judges don't know what to say!! Now you all know how weird Mr OrangE really is (and I'm not just talking about his obsession with Miss FX). Still, I feel like strangling Mr OrangE if I ever see him in town in the near future. Weirdness factor: 3.5 out of 5.

- There was one skinny guy who was truly weird... he sang very montonously and sounded like he was singing a lullaby, and Ken had to excuse himself for a while. When Ken got back soon after, he pretended to fall asleep!! Weirdness factor: 4 out of 5.

- This jabroni claimed to have a voice that can "melt girls' hearts and make them cry", but when he sang an off-key rendition of "Home Truly" (A National Day song sung by Kit Chan, and written by Dick Lee himself!!), that's where his fate is sealed. Weirdness factor: 3 out of 5.

- There's this long-haired guy named Sherman who found ways to keep himself calm and er, express his anger in his own way. He did so by singing OTT renditions of "Should I Stay" (ironically, one of 3 songs performed by Jonathan Leong during the SI 2 finals, urghhhh!!!) and Dick Lee's very own "Mad Chinaman". When Sherman asked for one more chance in spite of the judges asking him to leave, that's when security had to step in and ask him to get out. He needs to attend anger management classes.. the judges already say very frankly that he's OTT and doesn;t have what it takes to be the next S'pore Idol, but he still thinks that he can "make it through to the Final 12". Maybe he should take a page or two from the Ultimate Desperado-cum-Weirdo Steven Lim? Weirdness factor: 4 out of 5.

One thing that truly shocked me was one of the female auditionees (one who got in to Top 100), an Indian-Muslim girl named Sharifah who sported super short green hair and in rock chick clothes. The moment I saw the name, I was like, WAIT A MINUTE!!! Wasn't she the same girl I knew during the Singapore Idol 2 roadshows??? My god, why the sudden change in image and personality?? Last time I saw her, she had long curly hair... now she reminds me too much of Idol alumnus Rahima :-O I dunno whether to label her as another weirdo or not...

Even after watching the first 2 episodes of Singapore Idol 3, I am still having mixed thoughts on the Singapore Idol Top 100, but one thing's for certain: I am certainly not going for any of the live studio shows on Wednesday nights. The same prob goes for roadshows too, time for me to move on to better things.

Dedication to this week's cover gal

I dedicate this song to the cover girl of this week's 8 days... the very same Princess whom I saw recently. Ok ok, so she was the one with whom I 'kept it in the closet' back then (but I'm still keeping to my promise by not uploading the 2 pictures I took with her here or anywhere else in the Net). This MJ classic hit was actually the one which I thought of singing to her some 10 years ago. ;-)

What I did during the 2 days of National Day

This was what I did for the past 2 days...

Yesterday
0900 to 1045 hrs- did projection duty during church service
1100 to 1130 hrs- had lunch with family
1130 to 1230 hrs- took long bus ride to Bugis. Took pictures around Parkview Square, but that's as far as i could get (inside is not open for visitors)
1230 to 1600 hrs- went to California Fitness, spent a good 2 hours working out. Then went around BHG and Iluma... saw a few weirdos around.
1615-1700 hrs- took train back home, what else.
After 1700 hrs- had dinner at home with family. Watched a bit of National Day Parade on TV. Watched first episode of Singapore Idol 3. Man, the weirdos never stopped coming, esp the guy who dressed up as the main lead of the Japanese Detroit Metal City film. Ended the day by watching "Rush Hour 1" on HBO and then doing a bit of Bible study.

Today
0830 to 0930 hrs- Had rather heavy breakfast at Mc's, then takeaway of some buns from BreadTalk. Walked to workplace from Tiong Bahru Plaza. Saw that cowardly male orange cat at parking lot region. Man, he's proven to be a gonad-less twit with his siam-ing tactics.
1000 to 1700 hrs- Working as per normal. Not much of a surprise that there were fewer patrons than the norm. But what really got on my nerves is the fact that there are still people calling us and asking us dumb questions like "Are you open today? What time do you close?", even at around 1645 hrs!!! Don't they know anything like GO TO THE WEBSITE??? :-(((
1720-1930 hrs- After knocking off, I took bus to Orchard, went to watch "GI Joe: Rise of Cobra" with friends at Shaw House. Quite a nice show, never mind if the plot seemed a bit weak and complicated. Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow was wicked cool.
1930 to 2015 hrs- Spent some time round Borders and Ion Orchard before heading back home. Took some photos of Bonnie, Clyde, Jade and Visuel's twin sister (forgot the name liao) at parking lot region. Wonder how come no sign of Felix or Visuel...

Jiayou event at Tampines Mall

Happy Birthday to Vanness Wu, Clarence, Twyla and Hui Si
Happy 44th Birthday Singapore!!

Yesterday after knocking off from work at 1 plus, I headed to Tiong Bahru Plaza to have quick lunch, then took train to Tampines Mall to attend some Jiayou event. I heard a bit of the event via radio, but wasn't sure what it was about, although I did hear Daren Tan and Pornsak's names inside.

Much to my horror, that fat pig Alvin was present for the event, and man did he continue to piss us off with his non-stop yelling. It was most unfortunate that I forgot to bring along a roll of masking tape, just so I could use it to tape up that pig's big mouth.

I was quite surprised to see Teddy among the cheerleaders. But my attention was more on the cute babes frolicking in red tops and white skirts :-X

Artistes involved are Lee Teng, Pornsak, Yuan Shuai, Lin Cuifang, Zzen Zhang, Desmond Tan, Daren Tan and Rebecca Lim. The babe in light blue shirt and beige skirt looked kinda hot, never mind if she's rather skinny. :-)

After the event finished at 4.10 pm, I took taxi with 2 more friends, we took pic with Becks and Des at the MDC foyer. Time was 4.45 pm :-)

Oh yes, I saw Lorny the cat on my way out to the main road!! MEOWWW :-)

Later went to VivoCity to develop pictures, then I went to Plaza Singapura to have dinner, and take a sneak peek at the Bruno standees located at The Cathay. Ironically, I was gonna

And yeah, I met Clyde again, this time the pics turned out amazing!! :-)
