Random thoughts on fetching guests, politics, etc

Happy Birthday to...
15th Oct- Guo Jingjing, Gerald Chan
16th Oct- Mark Lee, 'Magic Babe' Ning, Irene Teo

Ok, I admit I was being a bit too over-reactive in regards to the fetching of foreign clients from Changi Airport to a certain hotel. Overall, both tasks on Tuesday and Wednesday evening went quite smoothly with no difficulty. Even the intervening of another employee (one whose booking of the NLB van was rather last minute) on Tuesday could do little to deter the task; although it was the first time I met up with that fella, he had already given me a bad impression with his sloppiness and personality (little surprise that the van driver wants to lodge complaints about him). Still, I felt client fetching was a lot better than going for a roadshow in the middle of Bugis Junction to see Wu Chun. Sorry, Fahrenheit fans, but I don't really care about Wu Chun or any Taiwanese pop bands in general. Maybe except a few like Rainie Yang or Lee-Hom Wang, heh. :-p

My thoughts on politics... the recent death of an anti-government protester during one of the protest rallies in Thailand shook things up a little, as the Queen had given moral support and said during the protester's funeral that she was a decent person who had been helping the King and working for the good of the nation. Rumors are that the Thai parliament that had garnered mixed reactions among the citizens may face possilbe dissolution in times to come. More details can be read here... http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Thai_Queen_attends_protester_cremation_as_report_indicates_explosive_tear_gas_used

I may not know much about the 2008 US presidential campaign, but I certainly would like to wish Obama and McCain all the best in the final round of the elections. May the best man emerge the victor... ;-)

Shocking news for Marvel fans... Terrence Howard to be replaced by Don Cheadle for the role of James Rhodes aka War Machine in Iron Man II??? :-O

And FINALLY, Tropc Thunder is gonna arrive in cinemas islandwide next week!! What took it so freaking long to come???

Be Savvy With Your $ seminar

Happy Birthday to Usher, Stacy Keibler and Edmund Twohill

My sincere apologies that this entry took rather long to be published... I had been overwhelmed with so much joy in regards to ytd's gathering, I simply lost some 'motivation' to type out my thoughts on the seminar; basicaly I had used up most of my energy during the gathering (in a good way that is). And as always, I have to choose the best pics to upload for this entry. But anyway, here goes...

Last Saturday, I left the house rather early to have lunch at Raffles City, then I went up to register for the seminar. I never thought I was among the first few in the queue... and I wasnt too pleased that the seminar would start at 2 pm (thank goodness I had eaten lunch prior to registering). Still, I was amazed by how huge the Stamford Ballroom was... and there were still some empty seats in the place. Everyone got a goody bag with a laptop cover, 2 notebooks, a folder containing print-outs for the seminar and a mousepad-cum-calculator.

The hosts for the event were Gurmit and Michelle Chong. Hey, it's the one-time reunion of Roy Terse and Adrianna Wow!! :-D

First part was the welcoming address by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Managing Director of Monetary Authority Singapore (MAS). Next was the Opening message by Mr Lim Swee Say, Secretary-General of NTUC. 4 personnel went forth to turn on the 'gigantic cellphone' and activate the Internet function to mark the offical start of the seminar.

Followed by a talk on "Being Savvy with Finances" by Mr Shannon Wong, Moneysense Speaker, CFP Certified Planner, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), FCCA.

Refreshment time from 3.15 to 4 pm... machiam long queue!! I only ate a bit, having eaten proper lunch prior to registartion. I was surprised to see Khai (assistant director of "Calefare") there... and even more surprised to see him with short hair!! I have to admit that it was kinda easy to recognize him, given his lanky frame and sexy lips... :-p

Next topic was on "Being Savvy with CPF Savings" by Ms Fiona Chan, Deputy Director (Membership Education Department) of the CPF Board.

Forum talk involving Mr Shannon Wong, Miss Fiona Chan, Mdm Halimah, 2 more guys whose names I forgot, Edmund Chen and Huang Biren. I totally forgot what they were saying, simply cos I was busy snapping pics away. But I do remember a bit on Gurms, Edmund and Biren relating on how they saved their money during the times prior to joining showbiz.

After the event ended at 5.25 pm, the fans went forward to get autographs from Edmund and Biren, as well as take picture with them.

Upon leaving the Swissotel region, I went to buy takeaways for Tris and myself, headed back home and had a well-deserved rest. I ended the night by watching some Iron Man extras. :-)

Why ME of all people??? Sibei suay!!

Wah lau eh... I wanna cry already. :-((((

Some person called me up a few minutes ago and instructed me, a mere minor who has worked in NLB for only a few weeks, to fetch some businessmen from Changi Airport and send them to a certain hotel, tomorrow after work. I was going, WHAT!!! ME OF ALL PEOPLE?!? I don't even know what to tell the guests... even worse, what if they are from China??? My command of Mandarin is way less than perfect. I would prefer it if a more experienced person were chosen. But since I was given this task, I know I cannot back out from it.

Welcome to the real world. On the blight side, at least I get to do something resourceful, unlike some people who like to waste their money on branded stuff or try out different ways to gain more fame.

Another song dedication to Felicia

I can't seem to explain this sensation, but I'm currently feeling way too delighted from the Felicia gathering... in fact, I think I'm gonna dedicate another song to her... :-) Back by popular demand, I bring to you one of the more popular songs from Westlife's second album "Coast To Coast"...

I Lay Your Love On You- Westlife

Just a smile and the rain is gone
Can hardly believe it, yeah
There's an angel standing next to me
Reaching for my heart

Just a smile and there's no way back
Can hardly believe it (yeah)
There's an angel calling me
Reaching for my heart.

(I) know that I'll be ok now, this time it's real

I lay my love on you, it's all I wanna do
Every time I breathe I feel brand new
You open up my heart, show me all your love
And walk right through... as I lay my love on you.

I was lost in a lonely place
Could hardly believe it (yeah)
Holding on to yesterdays far, far too long
(Now) I believe it's ok cos this time it's real

I lay my love on you, it's all I wanna do
Every time I breathe I feel brand new
You open up my heart, show me all your love
And walk right through (oh yeah)
As I lay my love on you

I never knew that love could feel so good
Ooooooooh (aaaaaaaah)

Like once in a lifetime you changed my world

I lay my love on you, you make me feel brand new
Show me your love and walk right through, oh yeah

As I lay my love on you
I lay my love on you, it's all I wanna do
Every time I breathe I feel brand new (feel brand new)
You open up my heart, show me all your love and walk right through...
As I lay my love, I lay my love on you... (lay my love on you)
I lay my love on you (oh) You make me feel brand new
You open up my heart, show me all your love
And walk right through (oh yeah)
As I lay my love on you...

As I lay my love on you

Felicity gathering!!

Happy Birthday to Ashrudin, Aziz and Audrey

I was one of over 20 fans who went for the Felicity membership drive-cum-advanced birthday gathering earlier today, and it was truly a memorable one!! I express my heartfelt thanks to the Felicity team and to the staff of SettlersCafe for making this gathering possible admist Fel's hectic schedule. I was actually relieved to have given up my PSC ticket earlier on, just so I could enjoy this gathering wholeheartedly. I personally wouldnt like to rush off to MDC halfway through, esp since nobody was allowed to leave the place...

Firstly to start off, I went for church service with Mother and Tris. After service ended, we went to Funan Center for early lunch... and then went to look around some mulitmedia stores. It was there that I discovered that the Incredible Hulk VCDs are out already!! The DVDs were nowhere to be seen though... perhaps they will come out within the next few days.

Having nowhere else to go, I decided to go to Central first... walk around, take some photos, sit down at bus stop, listen to music and wait for friends outside Clarke Quay MRT station. Us fans were allowed entry into the 2nd level of the cafe at approx 1435 hrs, and once inside, we were split into 3 teams and we started playing various games. For Team 3 (the one I'm allocated in), we played Jurassic Jumble, a game involving dinosaurs and colors. Ahhh yessss, I like dinosaurs... esp the T-Rex. :-)

Fel arrived a little late at abt 1515 hrs, she apologised for coming late, but we all took it well. She explained that she went to Central for a while to buy some stuff. We then played some charades-type of game for abt one hour or so; photography was prohibited during this time. We all enjoyed ourselves... although I didn't get tongue-tied, I got goosebumps and my legs went jelly for a while cos Fel sat next to me for a few minutes at one point during game time!! :-O No wonder I found it rather hard to get up after that. I did tell Fel that I had been to the place before...

Later at 1645 hrs, after game session had ended, we were allowed to take out our cameras and start taking pictures already... we sang a birthday song for Fel, and then we gathered for group photos (fyi her actual birthday is on 24th Oct). There was enough time for each one of us to present our gifts plus mini-projects to Felicia, take picture with her, and then get her autographs on various photos or magazines. I bought for Fel something small and simple (no point buying her another soft toy since I already did so in May), and I soon realized that I had gained some 'extent of contol' over my weakness with pretty gals!! But I still felt a little shy when it was my turn to chat with Fel... at least my legs didnt go wobbly like before, heh! :-p

There was a slight overrun of 30 minutes, but nevertheless everyone was cooperative at best. Team 2 had to do a penalty because they got the lowest points. At 6 pm, Fel had to leave the place quickly and hitch a ride to MediaCorp studios for filming for "Love Blossoms 2" (prior, to that, she was filming "The Little Nyonya"). Abt 5 minutes later, we all left the place and went our separate routes.

These photos were taken by myself btw... if you wanna see more pics, please go to the Felicity Forum at www.chenjingxuan.net/forum... provided you are a member of the forum in first place.
For dinner, I went to good ol' VivoCity to have my dinner at Superdog, then went to various CD stores to look for Hulk DVDs, to no avail. I did see a lot of leggy babes within the place though. After which, I went back home to watch President Star Charity... and I was right about the show: it was rather dull compared to last year's ensemble. Only President Nathan's stint did some justice... one of 100% pure sincerity, humility and appreciation, and 0% of over-rated standard or stuntmanship (sorry, Venerable Shi).

Once again, many many thanks to the Felicity team for making this gathering a truly memorable one for everyone of us... and many thanks to you too, Felicia... for being you :-)

And one more thing I wanna tell a few people... for the last time, my name is pronounced as TAH-NUT, NOT TAH-NETT!!! Have you heard of the Bayern Munich player Michael Tarnat??? You be glad I'm not the angry, erratic type like Bruce Banner... please don't ever mistake the pronunciation for the last syllable of my name as Nat. It's driving me to my wits' end already!!! At least none of you called me by my middle name, which I despise.

So remember... IT'S TAH-NUTT, NOT TAH-NET OR TEN-NET OR TEN-NUT!!!
