Yesterday was my first off-day, but it did not come without plenty of eyesore moments (as well as some pain in the mouth due to dental appointment in the morning). Maybe I should have stayed away from the streets of Orchard... got way too many young girls in short pants lah!! My eyes and nose were close to bleeding from all that staring at the slender legs and tight butts xiah, I very nearly 'turned into Venom' at one point of time. But even that wasn't enough to stop me from seeing Carrie Underwood at ION Orchard. This was what I did for Friday...
0700-0930 hrs: after waking up at .30 am, I headed off to the dentist, expriencing 15 minutes of sheer pain through scaling of teeth.
0945-1330 hrs: longer Internet time. At this point, I realized that perhaps it's much better to be working in the morning than just laze around at home.
1345-1445 hrs: had quick lunch, then went to Plaza Singapura for a while.
1500-1645 hrs: Explored around Orchard Road, eventually found myself spending a good 40 minutes reading maazines at Kinokuniya, Ngee An City.
1645-1800 hrs: Went to explore around Paragon, then went to have early dinner at Lucky Plaza.
1800-2020 hrs: super long wait in front of Shaw House for the event to start. Damn the stupid management system!! Thank goodness then that I chose to watch the event from Shaw House instead of at the Mosh Pit region flocated in front of ION Orchard.
2025-2045 hrs: FINALLY, the event started, bloody hell xiah!! Utt was the guest host, and Carie finally got on stage to belt out some new songs. It was a good thing to snap pictures of her face shown on the huge ION Plasma Screen, never mind if me and many others couldn't get to see her at a closer range (it was never my intention to do so anyway). I left after her 4th song at 2045 hrs, taking train back home and watching WWE Smackdown afterwards at 11 pm.

Speaking about leggy babes, I read a report in today's New Paper on some crazy old lady in her 70s who turned vigilante by going on a 'whipping rampage' for 3 to 4 weeks at Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 by using her cane to forcefully hit any female dressed in shorts (aged between 15 to 40). This went on until one brave lady named Mdm Tan decided that enough is enough, and fought back with the old hag til the plice arrived to handcuff the old hag. Although the Ah Ma's actions were disturbing, I actually found it quite hilarious. Then again, there are way too many women who like to go out in super short pants or miniskirts these days, even to the extent of exposing their butt cheeks (urghhh!!). To see an old lady cane a girl on the legs is less disgusting and rarer than seeing a male pervert grab a babe by the ass in the middle of town, to say the least (outrage of modesty can get you in jail, and your butt WHIPPED!!) I pity the fool for behaving so weirdly and becoming a nuisance to the public after the passing of her husband in 2002. Didn't help that she didn't bother to pay for any food she bought from the marketplace, or even pay for electric or water bills for a long time, and always seen muttering to herself.
But what Mdm Tan said later on was perhaps true... the only logical reason why more girls go out in shorts is due to the unbearable weather all over Singapore, not just because they want to expose their nice legs or tight butts, to prove how sexy they can be. Whereas us guys have to go around in long pants or 3/4 pants (save for a few who may go out in shorts due to morning exercise), which is probably better in a way that we won't need to worry abt drawing stares from lechers... something that the leggy gals have to contend with all the time. But trust me when I say that it's still quite a stuffy situation when it comes to going out in long pants under the sun.
I think the weird old lady would have a very hard time trying to cane each and every young girl in shorts lingering around Orchard Road, should she be dispatched within the busy region. I think she's serving hard time in IMH right now, muahaha... B-)

My thoughts on an otherwise lacklustre Singapore Idol episode
I don't have much to say about the Michael Jackson Tribute that took place during Singapore Idol Top 10 Spectaculars. I personally felt that the Tribute by Gurmit, Andie, Daren, Pat Mok and 2 other artistes during the President Star Charity on Sunday night was more justified (but that's only because they had much more experience and exposure than the Idol wannabes). What I saw just now was a rather lacklustre show in all, only 4 finalists were most impressive. Namely Tabitha, Amira, Mae and Sezairi. The rest were either average or lacking the 'fire' (sorry, Sylvia). I think Idol alumni Nat and Primero who were present during the performance show would do a better job in emulating MJ anytime...
I was expecting a little more from Faizal's take on "Billie Jean", even if it should be the first p[erformance to be featured. Charles' rendition of "Remember The Time" started off with a totally awesome beatboxing interlude, but did very little to conceal his weak vocal prowess. Malaque's rendition of "Rock With You" was decent, but why must she come up with a nonsensical rap at the start an middle of the song? And ermm, I don't have anything to say about Duane's take on "The Girl Is Mine". I got a feeling that Michael might be rolling non-stop in his grave...
Good news is... Tabitha, Faizal and Amira are declared safe, can see them at the SI Top 9 roadshow at Plaza Singapura on Sunday!!! :-D
Not-so-good news is... the surprise twist in determining the finalist in the Bottom 3 positions. The ones seated at the corner, namely Sezairi, Sylvia and Mae, are declared to be safe. Which means that the remainder standing in the middle are in the Unsafe Zone. They are Nurul, Charles and Malaque (3rd time already!!). And Duane that 'mutant Grouper Fish' is safe yet again, grrr!!
Worst piece of news is... Nurul Huda, the 13th Wonder who replaced MJ Kuok, was the one with the lowest number of votes, her Idol journey ends here. Somehow reminded me a bit of Nikko Smith from American Idol season4, who took over Mario Valesquez who withdrew from the show. This is way too cincidental, given the fact that the 4th casualty was the one who replaced the one who shared the same initials as the King of Pop himself.
This is a rather difficult decision to make, but I hereby make a vow that I will stop watching Singapore Idol 3 for good (and rely on updates via Internet) based on any one of the following conditions...
1) if DH that grouper fish makes it to the Final 5,
2) if more gals get kicked out in the next few weeks, or
3) the end result for the Finals is the same as Seasons 1 and 2, i.e. both of them male. Though that seems rather unlikely since the male contestants aren't very good. Then again... it might be possible. Remember how Sly managed to advance to the Finals for Season 1 in spite of being in the Bottom position more times than anyone else?

Checking out more hot babes at Asian AutoSalon
Yesterday
0815-1045 hrs: Went for projection duty in church in the morning. For second time, I was assigned as understudy for brightness-n-contrast station for the video output, while the other 2 struggle with the movable cameras. Quite fun to stay upstairs in the all-new AV room actually, but the aircon was way too cold. Long debriefing session after that.
1045-1215 hrs: Went to Plaza Singapura with Mother and Bro, we had lunch at good ol Kopi Tiam. It was inside the lift that I found out about an upcoming Singapore Idol roadshow on 18th October aka this coming Sunday. After loitering around the place for a while, I took train to Expo, eventually meeting Shanwei inside the train at Tanah Merah station. :-)
1300-1630 hrs: Together with Terence, Shan and I got inside and took photos of the various cars as well as the race queens, either local or foreign. Thai babes were very happening, Japanese babes were an innocent bunch (but some of them didn't stay too long). The Caucasian babes looked like they didn't sleep well or were just plain bored. Much to our surprise, Rachelle Lin from "U Are The One" (Wei Wo Du Zun) was one of the local models, man did she look smoking hot in that lobang-esque dress. We also saw some babes from the Super Import Nights event, as well as that Jade Seah lookalike Iris Wong (whom I saw at the 2008 Singapore Motorshow at Suntec Convention last Sept).
1630-1730 hrs: the three of us went to see Drifting performance at the courtyard located outside. Man, a lot of smoke came out from the non-stop screeching (PSI 'shot up to 180', haha!!), and the roads were marked with tyre markings shaped like the number 8. Some of the cars crashed onto the tyres and their rear bumpers came off, quite scary. As soon as the Drifting Show ended, we got back into the exhibition halls and took pic with a few more babes. I left the place soon after. In all, I took picture with about 14 babes (could have taken with a few more, but oh well). Yep, my luck has certainly improved :-)
1800-2230 hrs: After I disturbed the grouchy orange cat for a while, I joined Mother and Bro for dinner at S11. Got back home in time to watch President Star Charity, while surfing the Net at same time. Thank god my request for PSC tickets failed due to overwhelming response, cos from the looks of it, the entire show was quite a bore (but slightly better than last year's event), the only segment that got me totally glued to the TV was none other than the Michael Jackson Tribute which featured Gurmit, Andie, Daren, Pat Mok and 2 Vasantham stars. I personally felt that the Musical themed PSC extravaganza in 2007 was more lively.

RIP Stephen Gately
Just as we are trying to get over the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson in June, as well as the recent passing of Patrick Swayze a few weeks ago... this latest death involved a member of an active boyband, and it was the most unexpected passing so far... unlike the aforementioned celebs, this recently deceased celeb is still at his prime and very much active in showbiz.
Rest in peace, Stephen Gately. His passing is too similar to that of Heath Ledger, except that Gately was in showbiz for more than a decade (a little longer than HL) and has enjoyed more success than "The Joker". With his passing, I hope the other Boyzone members who contribute to the harmonies for most songs (Mikey, Shane and Keith) better focus more on improving their vocal ranges.
Stephen Gately, the second lead singer of Irish boyband Boyzone, passed away at the tender age of 33 on Saturday while on holiday in Spain. His body was discovered on 10 October 2009 in an apartment which he owned with partner Andrew Cowles near Port d'Andratx on the western tip of Majorca in Spain. Spanish police were alerted at 1:45 pm. The cause of death has yet to be determined, although it was reported that he had "gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and fallen asleep, but never woke up." He was found squatting in an awkward way on a sofa, dressed in his pyjamas. Police said they had no reason to believe the death was related to abuse of substances such as drugs or alcohol and no suicide note or signs of violence were located on the corpse. The Gately family have enlisted celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean as their official spokesperson; Kean ruled out foul play and suicide, describing it as "just a tragic accident".

TNP New Face 2009 Finals
Not much of a surprise that Farhan Shah got eliminated from Singapore Idol on Wednesday night, at least he an take ease at the fact that he would no longer be compared to Joakim Gomez, in terms of boyish charm, good looks yet mediocre voice. But bad enough that he won't be part of the upcoming Spectacular round... a Tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON!!!
Yesterday... after work ended at 7 pm, I went to Ngee Ann City to meet up with Ishardi to watch New Paper New Face 2009 finals. There wasn't any remarkable guest like maybe Dawn Yeoh, Joakim or Paul, though there were some recognizable faces among the judging panel (namely Addy Lee, Junita Simon and Sylvia Toh Paik Choo). The guest performer Kumar (yes, the 'lady' in purple evening wear!!) managed to make everyone peng san with his super crude jokes, not to forget him dressed up like a woman as always. Suddenly, I miss the security personnel from MediaCorp who looked a bit like him (I think she quit liao, hadn't seen her for 2 years already)... the same one I nicknamed "Michael Jackson", hee hee!! :-p

Sexy Magic Urban Illusions
Yesterday after work, I went to meet up with Terence and Darren at VivoCity, it was there that we had quick dinner. Then we headed down to St James Power Station to watch "Sexy Magic, Urban Illusions" featuring JC Sum and MagicBabe Ning. The doors opened at 7.30 pm and the event began at 8.30 pm sharp.
In addition to the usual tricks seen at previous Ultimate Magic shows, there were a few new ones, mostly to do with disassembling the body with the aid of metal structures. Towards the end of the night, JC and Ning were awarded the Merlin Awards for Most Original Illusionist and Most Original Female Illusionist in Asia by some long-haired dude named Tony Hassini, President of the International Magicians Society.
Right after that, we aheaded to the bar to await the interaction session. JC and Ning had to go through various interviews with different TV stations before the photo-taking session could commence. And so the 3 of us took picture with JC and Ning. We also took pic with Matthew the Street Magician, Adeline the Kinetic Gal and Tony Hassini. Then we left the place at 10.40 pm, taking trains to separate stations.

Some pics taken at Home and Design Fair
Here are a few pics taken at the Singapore Home and Design Fair at Expo Hall 6A on Sunday afternoon.
Patricia Mok was the host for the event between 2.30 to 4 pm. For some unknown reasons, I just couldn't seem to connect with her anymore (and I know I'm not the only one), maybe its bcos she had distanced herself from the regular fans as of late. Not to forget that she had deleted her Friendster account a few years back, made her blog private and practically set her Facebook profile to invisible.

Surprise appearances by former actress Carole Lin and newbie celeb Huajing.
Huajing got sabo'ed by her friend to sing 2 Chinese songs... first song was a rock-tempo song titled "Wo Xiang Xing (I Believe)", second one was a slightly older and slow-beat song, fogrot the title.

Events on Sunday in brief: Home n Design fair plus MJ Tribute
This was what I did on Sunday... due to lack of time to update blog on regular basis, I will keep the details rather brief (but I will upload a few photos in separate entries). Also, I will cut down on birthday tags cos they can be rather time-constraining.
0815-1045 hrs: entered the newly-designed AV room in church. Stayed there til start of sermon by Pastor Benny Ho. Lingered around in church for a while.
1100-1245 hrs: me and Mother went to Raffles City to have lunch. After that, went separate ways... I headed to Robinson's for a while before taking train to Expo.
1315 to 1430 hrs: reached Expo rather early, waited for Jan to reach the place.
1430 to 1610 hrs: along with a few regular fans, went for the Home and Design Fair at Expo Hall 6A. Event hosted by Patricia Mok, whom I am no longer close to. Main star was Jesseca Liu, looking very pretty with new hairstyle and in grey floral dress. Surprise appearances by Mingzhu Sisters, former actress Carole Lin and actress-cum-host Wang Huajing. Managed to record down both of Huajing's performances with my camera phone. After Jess and Pat left, I took pic with Huajing and Carole. Then took train to Changi Airport for next event.
1700-1750 hrs: Michael Jackson Tribute Show at Changi Airport Terminal 3, performed by the one and only Edward Moss!! About 1000 fans were present, they screamed and cheered, went "Hee hee" and "hoo hoo" throughout the first 30 minutes. After the performance, there was a moonwalking competition among 5 young fans aged between 5 to 13. After that, Edward Moss came out with new straight hair wig and maroon top to sign autographs and take picture with 10 lucky fans. One young lady even gave him a hug and kissed him on the cheek, and he kissed her back!! He and the crew then rushed into the immigration counter to have quick dinner and then take train to Terminal 1 Departure Hall.
1800-2000 hrs: I took SkyTram to Terminal 2 to try my luck at Burger King, only to find out that it was CLOSED FOR RENOVATION!!! Fortunately, there was still McDonald's to have dinner. After that, took Skytram to Terminal 1 and went up to Viewing Gallery to watch MJ Tribute show at the Nexus Lounge located downstairs. Thankfully, it started a bit late... turnout wasn't as overwhelming as the one at T3, but still quite decent (about 200 fans I think). After the show was finished, I took bus out of Changi Airport and reached home at 9 plus.

WWE Hell In A Cell 2009
WWE Hell in a Cell was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which will take place on October 4, 2009 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It featured talent from the Raw and SmackDown brands. The name of the event was voted by fans via WWE's official website. Hell in a Cell was chosen over No Escape, Lock Up and Rage in a Cage.
The show was what is known as a supercard, which featured more than one main event match. The concept of the show was that each of these main event matches would be contested as Hell in a Cell matches. Eight matches will take place on the event's card...
WWE Intercontinental Championship: John Morrison (c) vs Dolph Ziggler

Reservist duty completed!!!
Seems like miracles do happen aeter all... just when all hope is lost... I CLEARED THE PARALLEL PARKING TEST AND THE CLASS 4S DRIVING TEST AT ONE SHOT!!!! SIBEI SONG!!!!!! HELL-YEAHHHHH!!!!!!! :-D
The Class 4S prime mover plus lowbed trailer looks something like this... with a seemingly intimidating forklift attached to the trailer.
This was how the day went...
0530-0700 hrs: woke up very early as usual, took the first bus to Yishun, then changed bus to Mandai Camp 2... reaching there very early.
0745-0845 hrs: the 3 of us passed the parallel parking tests, then the Indian DI drove us to Sembawang Camp via pickup.
0900-0940 hrs: THE CLASS 4S TEST at Sembawang region. I was f'ing nervous from start to finish, I was sweating non-stop, and many time i thought I was going to get marked. When all was said and done, the tester told me to be careful at the next reservist duty, and that's when I knew that I passed!!! :-D
0945-1025 hrs: One of the DIs drove 4 of us (me, Chong, Firdaus and Abdullah) back to Mandai Camp.
1025-1200 hrs: seeing that we still had plenty of time before noon, Chong offered to drive the 3 of us in his cousin's blue car to Bukit Panjang Plaza. The 4 of us had lunch at Long John Silver's located at Basement 1. Then we drove back to Mandai Camp, to be joined by Hamzah and Ibrahim who also passed Class 4S driving test.
1200-1315 hrs: very long wait, we were so ored that we went into Heavy Platoon Mess Room to take a short nap. Finally got our plastic SAF Driving Licenses from the Chief DI, then from there fallout.
1330-1500 hrs: very long wait for Bus 171 to arrive. Switched to Ang Mo Kio amd continued to ogle at leggy babes at AMK Hub, before boarding Bus 25 back home.
1530-1700 hrs: underwent a 'psychological cleansing session' by taking a short nap.
1700 hrs onwards: watched a bit of Tv, had dinner with Mother, and Internet time at night.
