Iron man films Informatics Part 20: Mark XXXIX, XL, XLI and XLII

MARK XXXIX
The sub-orbital Armor, known as “Starboost", was designed to withstand otherworldly travel. It has an integrated, removable booster pack and zero-gravity manoeuvring thrusters placed around the suit. This suit self-destructed after Aldrich Killian and his Extremist army were defeated. It is specifically made for space travel, possibly inspired after Tony nearly died while in space, in the closing moments of the Chitauri invasion in New York.
MARK XL
The hyper velocity Armor, known as "Shotgun", was designed for high performances at hypersonic speeds. Thanks to its unique flight formation – the ability to lock to a tight, streamlined shape that blends arms and legs into a single form while engaged - the suit can reach extremely high speeds in excess of Mach 5. Despite its overall vulnerability, it does feature fully functional RT defences, and the razor-thin retractable forearm panels could be used as effective blade weapons. Its lighter weight and speed still makes evasive maneuver its most effective defense. This armor was worn by Tony Stark during the final showdown; it was sliced into half by Aldrich Killian seconds after Tony ejected from it.

MARK XLI
This Skeleton Armor, known as "Bones", is a black and gold, lighter version of a full Iron Man suit. This is the first armor to feature the prehensile propulsion system, the core of what would be a finished Stark design. Created with a focus on speed and maneuverability, without the extra layers of armor, the suit can move much faster on the ground than the other suits. The suit in general feels more flexible than the others due to its unfinished nature. The key feature of the suit is that other pieces of armor can attach other pieces of armor to this base suit. Tony wore this suit to escape from Killian who was seemingly destroyed by the exploding Mark XLII armor, but the suit fell apart after a rough landing.

MARK XLII
This Autonomic Prehensile Propulsion Armor uses technology from Mark XLI mixed with the Mark V to have multiple armor pieces propelled by mini-repulsors to fly to Tony and deploy automatically over the pilot, through state-of-the-art high-tech implants in Tony's body. Tony can call the armor back to him, break it down or assemble it on command, making him battle-ready in a matter of seconds. Tiny missiles can be fired on command from the forearm units, and the gauntlets can release a strong force-field energy sphere packed with explosive power. The new, extra powerful repulsors can fire a super-charged particle beam which can disintegrate most metals. It also has repulsors on its chest for addition lift capabilities. It features an inverse color scheme to the other main armors, with gold as the predominant color. Tony controlled this suit at several points of the movie, but most importantly he used it to trap Aldrich Killian during the final showdown and attempt to finish him off by activating the self-destruct function.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 19: Mark XXXVI, XXXVII and XXXVIII

MARK XXXVI
Riot-Control armor known as “Peacemaker”. It is a variation of a Disaster Rescue armor, without the extendable claws.

 MARK XXXVII
The Deep Sea Armor, known as "Hammerhead”, was designed to be able to travel to the deepest parts of the ocean where its heavy-duty, reinforced exterior can withstand extreme pressure, and has high-power work lights on the helmet to allow adequate illumination in murky waters.

MARK XXXVIII
The heavy lifting Armor, known as "Igor", was not designed for battle, but for heavy lifting and carrying objects 4 times heavier than itself. It was designed to be structurally bent forward to leverage its body weight. The armor plating was not meant for protection, but rather as a solid foundation for carrying heavy loads without causing stress on the pistons and inner workings of the suit.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 18: Mark XXXIII, XXXIV, and XXXV

MARK XXXIII
The enhanced energy suit, known as "Silver Centurion", has a slight protective force field, which allows it to attract or repulse objects using magnetic polarity. The suit is capable of firing slow-moving, high-energy discharges from its pulse cannons. These build in intensity as they fly, doing more damage the farther they travel. This suit was worn by Stark during his fight against Aldrich Killian while attempting to save Pepper Potts, but it was damaged and subsequently abandoned after Killian ripped out the arc reactor powering it.
MARK XXXIV
Disaster Rescue Armor Prototype also known as ‘Southpaw”. It had only one extendable arm and claw, it led to the creation of Mark XXXV.
MARK XXXV
The Disaster Rescue Armor, known as "Red Snapper", specialises in heavy-duty jobs in dangerous places, making it ideal for disaster rescue. It has extendable arms and claws that can rotate. The claws have powerful blasters that can destroy anything they are grasping onto. The claw RTs can also focus the repulsor energy into a sphere and then fire it; the slow-moving sphere will explode on impact. Due to the suit’s increased size and armor, it is not as agile as the others, and has very limited flight ability. This armor was destroyed after crashing into a steel box crate, taking down 3 Extremist soldiers with it.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 17: Mark XXIX, XXX, XXI and XXII

MARK XXIX
Nimble construction Armor known as “Fiddler”. It has become lesser purpose in its construction specialty due to only having one Jackhammer arm, however this makes it more versatile and maneuverable than Thumper. It also has an oversized RT chest from Heartbreaker.
MARK XXX
Silver Centurion Armor prototype known as “Blue Steel”.

 MARK XXXI
High-velocity Centurion Armor known as “Piston”. Operates in a similar manner as Mark XL Shotgun.

MARK XXXII
Enhanced RT Armor known as “Romeo”. Operates in a similar manner as Mark XVII Heartbreaker.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 16: Mark XXV, XXVI, XXVII and XXVIII

MARK XXV
Heavy construction suit, known as "Striker", was designed to help with construction. Its powerful jackhammer-like arms can pulverize concrete and can withstand high temperatures and electrical surges. It can take a barrage of hits, flying debris, and explosions without flinching or losing sight of its target.
MARK XXVI
Heavy Construction Armor upgrade known as “Gamma”. It able to withstand extreme heat and temperatures and very powerful and devastating electrical surges, as well as Gamma radiation, as it is built for. It is based off of the Mark 25 and can be used in dangerous situations. It is also colored Green and Black, possibly to remind Tony of his friend, Bruce Banner, who turns into a giant green monster.
MARK XXVII
Chameleon Armor known as “Disco”. It can change color to blend with the surroundings.
MARK XXVIII
Radiation-Zone Armor known as “Jack”. Its faceplate resembles that of a hasmat symbol. It is an upgraded version of Gamma, not only able to stand Gamma radiation, but also nuclear radiation. It also seems to be able to resist the Extremis powers.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 15: Mark XXII, XXIII and XXIV

MARK XXII
“Hot Rod” War Machine 2.0 Prototype Armor featured red coloring on the extremities and flame decals on the legs. It led to the creation of the Mark II War Machine armor.

MARK XXIII
Extreme Heat armor known as “Shades”. It can withstand extreme temperatures in heat due of it's multiple-layered and anti-heat armor plating, which was built within the suit to prevent the suit from melting and eventually burning Tony inside of it. This was later added to the Shotgun armor. However the areas with weaponry are replaced with special plating.

MARK XXIV
Heavy Combat Armor known as “Tank”. It is similar to the Heartbreaker, only thicker with more armored plating for intense combat due to its advanced Titanium Alloy. It is able to withstand heavy damage and has a oversized RT chest that fires heavy blast and can create a forcefield. The durability of the suit was later added to the Mark 42 armor.

Iron Man films Inrformatics Part 14: Mark XVIII, XIX, XX and XXI

MARK XVIII
This Stealth Artillery Level RT armor, known as “Casanova”,has a oversized RT chest that fires powerful blast and generates forcefields. It also has a heavily advanced cloaking system based on the Mark XVI. It was modified so that it could be used for both stealth and heavy combat. It features characteristics of both Heartbreaker and Sneaky Armors.

MARK XIX
This High-Velocity Prototype Armor is known as “Tiger”. It is built with an emphasis to test initial high-velocity traveling. This prototype was able to reach high speeds and was the fastest armor until Tony realized that the Armors could go faster, and built a upgraded version.

MARK XX
Long-distance Armor known as “Python”. It has enhanced speed in terms of flight and land movement, and can last much longer on the move than other armors. The suit is able to store more energy into its system, directed to the Flight System, to allow more energy to be supplied for more travel and it loses less energy than other Iron Man suits.

MARK XXI
Golden colored, High-Altitude Armor known as “Midas”. It has the ability to fly at high altitude, being designed to withstand low pressure and cold temperatures, though not designed for space travel.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 13: Mark XV, XVI and XVII

MARK XV
The stealth suit, known as "Sneaky", is virtually invisible to enemy early-warning systems. A chrome colored coating on the armor can darken or lighten to match the environment, making the suit harder to see from a distance.

MARK XVI
The black stealth suit, known as "Nightclub" is similar to the Mark XV armor. However, it does not have all of the weapons akin to the traditional armor, and is designed for stealth missions that require hand-to-hand battles.

MARK XVII
The artillery level RT suit, known as "Heartbreaker", has an oversized chest RT, with an aperture which allows the shape of the blast to be adjusted from a  narrow, straight beam to a wider, more powerful blast. It can also generate a repulsor shield for protection against various projectiles and explosives.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 12: Mark XII to XIV

Mark XII was a new stealth-type armor with silver and black plating.  The chest repulsor transmitter of this artillery-level suit can fire beams at normal strength or can be charged up to fire even more powerful blasts. The suit also generates a repulsor shield for protection against firearms and explosives.
Mark XIII was an upgrade to the Mark XII. It was the first suit to have a rectangular-chest piece instead of a circle or triangle.
Mark XIV was an upgrade to the Mark XIII. It is the fifth and last Advanced Armor.

Iron Man films Informatics Part 11: Mark VIII to XI

Mark VIII was the first armor that Tony Stark built following the events of The Avengers. It is less bulky and has a unique and smooth design on its face mask. It is presumed that the suit weapons are more advanced than in previously made suits along with its manuverbility. It also has extra layers of Kevlar, which allow it to withstand the force of a small missile. Because of this, it is able to take harder hits and take more damage in the battlefield.

Mark IX was an upgrade to the Mark VIII. It has redesigned colored plates and a rough-edged mask. It was designed for extreme flexibility, movement and agility.

Mark X was an upgrade to the Mark IX. The suit is presumably upgraded to have more flight, speed, and power. It has been equipped with extra visible repulsors on it's sides near the abdomen area, meant to increase speed and power. Also, on the soles of its feet, it has oversized and improved Flight Stabilizers, increasing it's power, letting it reach high-altitudes and go faster. It was the fastest suit until other suits such as Tiger and Shotgun came along. Other differences include a enhanced chest piece, redesigned colored plates, and a new face plate design. Near the end of the Extremis battle, it mistook Pepper as a Extremis soldier and began attacking her. Tony tried to tell it to fall back, but it continued. Pepper then attacked and smashed the armor, using its repulsors to kill The Mandarin.

Mark XI was an upgrade to the Mark X.
