I am greatly disappointed once again... like the past 4 weeks, another girl has been booted off Singapore Idol 3 just last night. And to make things worse, the 3 judges didn't even bother to throw in the Judges' Save... they probably figured out that if they were to do so, Mae might still be eliminated the following week anyway. With Mae's exit, that leaves only 2 girls in the freshly minted pack of 6, namely Sylvia and Tabitha. Mae's mum wasn't very happy with the outcome, she demanded an explanation why the Judges wouldn't use the Judges' Save, and why it always has to be the girls to get the lowest number of votes...
Mae's mum Aunty Sandra did make a good point there when voicing out her grievances on the unfair voting system. Right from the Piano shows, this problem on the battle of the sexes has already been highlighted rather clearly. The ones who got through to the Spectaculars are all male (not counting Nurul Huda who was set to fill in the void left by MJ Kuok), and most of the finalists who got in by judges' choice are female. Now that I see the disastrous elimination pace, I believe MJ Kuok might have sensed this pattern coming, hence his decision to withdraw.
I did speak about the elimination patterns of the past 2 seasons, and whether Season 3 would mimic either one or go under a new pattern. However with girls being eliminated within 4 straight weeks (Nurul, Amira, Malaque and now Mae), the elimination pace of SI 3 seems to be going at nearly the equal rate as that of SI 2. That alone makes the possibility of a female contestant in the finals even lower, much like for SI 2. Let there not be a repeat please???
And on a personal note, can I say that I was greatly sickened by the voting prowess of a certain Idol's fanclub? He always has to perform songs with a piano (now can see how troublesome it can be for the backstage personnel to bring down the whole piano from the stage). And everytime he is announced to be safe, that's where the feeling of dismay and cynicism comes in. my mind would be at ease only if he ends up in the Bottom 3 position at one point of time (but that still hasn't happened yet). I got a feeling he might end up as the new Victor Tang if his fans and family continues to vote like mad to keep him into the competition. Give this boy a dignified exit already and let him concentrate on his O levels!!
If Singapore doesn't wisen up in time, then I guess that come end of the month, there will be a drastic drop in viewership ratings, should the girls be ousted from the show before the Final Showdown. And I know I won't be the only one who may stop watching Singapore Idol 3 for good when that day comes. So please vote for talent!!

On a more interesting note, it was quite a funny thing to see Laura Fygi's assets jiggle uncontrollably as she danced during the first few minutes of the Results show... and quite disturbing when Gurmit had to try very hard not to stare at her XXXX as he talked to her afterwards.
