Batman has been worried about Superman's growing power for years. Bruce Wayne was in Mertopolis when a ship full of Kryptonian invaders began destroying the city. Even though Superman eventually saved the day, Bruce saw how much was lost during the fight. The fact that Superman refuses to answer to any government only increases Bruce's fears. Bruce is keeping a close watch on Superman, learning as much as he can about this "alien" hero.
Confronting Superman could be dangerous business, but Batman always comes prepared. Bruce has a special armored Batsuit that could portect him if he ever needed to defend Gotham City from an alien foe. The armor is the strongest available, and lined with lead, making the suit incredibly heavy. But it carries an internal power source, so Batman can move easily in it. The lenses over Batman's eyes help Bruce analyze his enemy's movements and look for weaknesses.
And thus begins the showdown between the Son of Krypton and the Bat of Gotham!
