WWE Live 2017 in Singapore Part 1

For the benefit of those who don't have Facebook accounts, I decided to create a blog entry on the happenings of the WWE Live show which I attended last night.

I alighted from Stadium MRT station at 1640 hrs and was rather astonished to see such a loooong queue at the merchandise stall. Nonetheless I joined in the queue and hung in there for more than an hour. After much thought I decided to buy a Finn Balor T-shirt, which I did after more than an hour of queueing.

Hadn't been inside the Indoor Stadium for like 5 years? And DOH there was another merchandise stall there... Nonetheless soon after I got in, I took the opportunity to do the Finn Freeze before finding my seat at Sector 128 😁

The show started off a few minutes before 1930 hrs, with host Mike Rome and ring announcer Jojo kicking off the event.

The first Superstar to arrive needed no introduction... "BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!!" Omg it's Chris Jericho!! 😍😮😁 The entire stadium was going nuts, nearly blew off the roof!! The moment Y2J got into the ring (with The List in his hand), he was constantly telling the fans to be quiet. He said that he hadn't been to Singapore for 15 years (back in March 2002, he defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, weeks before facing Triple H at WrestleMania X-8), mostly cos "Singapore stinks".😳😓 He then gave the warning "you know what happens to peaople who dare call Chris Jericho a stupid idiot?" and was going to include Singapore in The List... but nahhhh it didn't happen. Still he gave us "stupid idiots" the privilege to enjoy the Gift of Jericho, "drink it in maaaan". You may check the video for the full promo 📹 here.

Jericho was soon interrupted by the arrival of NXT Superstar Hideo Itami. Prior to the start of the match, the referee was trying hard to ask Jericho to remove that ugly scarf off his neck. Y2J did the Hulk Hogan ear-cup taunts, before Hideo took off the scarf, and used it to... wipe his underarms!! Oh man that's just gross... Jericho nearly won the match with the Walls of Jericho, but Hideo managed to do a rope break. The Japanese wrestler once known as KENTA avoided a Codebreaker and knocked Jericho out cold with the GTS (remember, he is the creator of that move, not CM Punk).

The second match was rather forgettable... in fact it was one of 2 reshuffled matches. These 2 were supposed to be in tag team action, but due to "the breakup of a certain tag team" (which i would divulge on later), these 2 ended up facing each other. Titus O' Neil went one on one against Bo Dallas (who now looks an awful lot like his brother with his beard and shaggy hair)... this was the least memorable match cos it lasted for about 4 minutes, with Titus making it a win with the Clash of the Titus. Titus did carry a young girl briefly, and after he left, Bo Dallas had to cover his ears as the fans booed him (while a few fans did say "Bo-lieve!").

The next match is another reshuffled match... Heath Slater and Rhyno who were originally scheduled to face Titus & Dallas (which is a very odd pair), but they got to face off against the Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus. Ha, we almost forgot about Slater and Rhyno, since they don't appear on TV much even after being drafted to WWE Raw via Superstar Shake-Up. Rhyno almost went for the Gore, but he received a Brogue Kick from the Celtic Warrior and lost. Still, Slater and Rhyno got a standing ovation for their efforts.

Okay, here's the "breakup of a certain tag team" which I was talking about. Many of you WWE fans who had watched the most recent episodes of WWE Raw know that Enzo Amore and Big Cass had broken up after nearly 4 years as a team. And in the most recent Raw episode, Enzo and Cass briefly reconciled, only for Big Cass to attack him. Well, the same thing was re-enacted here in Singapore, with a slight difference in content and ending 😕 This was done so Enzo could say out phrases like "I'm a Certified G and a Bona Fide stud, and you can't teach that" "Bada Boom, realest guy in the room, how you doin'?" and Big Cass could say "There's only one word to describe you, and I'm gonna spell it out for you! S-A-W-F-T, SAAAAWWFT!" And also give the fans the chance to say "WHAT?!" for anything that Big Cass says. There were even "DELETE!" chants.

The next match is a combination of 2 matches, and it was a dream come true for some. We saw a mini-Shield reunion where Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins teamed up to go against thier respective rivals, the Destroyer Samoa Joe and the Intercontinental Champion The Miz (accompanied by his wife Maryse). During the match, Rollins clucked around like a chicken, encouraging the fans to chant "KFC! KFC! KFC" to mock The Miz for acting like a cowardly chicken 🐔🍗 Samoa almost got Rollins locked in the Coquina Clutch, but The Architect broke free and later dived onto Samoa. The ref ordered Maryse out of the arena, and the Lunatic Fringe managed to nail Miz into the mat with Dirty Deeds. Ambrose and Rollins then mingled with the fans at ringside for more than a minute, before heading back to the locker room area. It was kinda gross to see Ambrose throw his sweaty singlet to the crowd... 😥😖 then came the 15 minute break. To be continued in Part 2
