My thoughts on Star Awards phone lines

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AILEEN TAN (VETERAN MEDIACORP ACTRESS) AND RUTH CHUA (PSS SEMI-FINALIST)

So the phone lines for the Top 40 artistes and the newcomers have just opened huh... TOO EARLY LAH!!! Indeed I will vote for Pat Mok whose birthday had just passed yesterday, but I will do so only once (or probably twice). Besides, I had already used up abt $50 for Singapore Idol voting for the past 3 months (mostly for Jasmine of course). I think the most logical reason why the phone lines had to open so early could be that Mediacorp wants to cover up for the losses suffered from the rather dismal ratings of Singapore Idol (owing to the fact that attendance for this season is only 1/3 that from the first season). Still, Im gonna tame down my votes to one vote per celeb of my preference (twice for celebs I like more). And I will save most of the votes for the last 2 weeks before the date of the Star Awards ceremony.

Facts Im very happy wif:
- Elvin Ng, Jesseca Liu and Julian Hee in Top 40 list
- Elvin Ng and Dawn Yeoh in Most Popular Newcomer list!!
- Priscelia Chan back in Top 40 list after last year's exclusion (but then her chances of getting into Top 10 are still very slim)

Facts Im not too surprised abt:
- Ezann Lee not in Top 40 list (she's quitting early next month to pursue a degree... sniff indeed I will miss her a lot)
- Henry Thia, Moses Lim, Jin Yin Ji and Diana Ser kicked out from list
- B-list artistes like Eelyn Kok, Lynn Poh, Constance Song, Ann Kok, Phyllis Quek, Thomas Ong, Adam Chen and Ben Yeo not in list (in fact, rumors are that Phyllis is going to quit from showbiz anyway)
- Ling Lee, Rebecca Lim and Bryan Wong Yuan Lee not in Most Popular Newcomer list (can understand, since they're not well-established)
- Candyce Toh in Most Popular Newcomer list (given her sweetie-pie role in "Women Of Times")

Facts that were moderately surprising:
- Kelvin and Sin Huey in Top 40 list AND Most Popular Newcomer list
- Kelly Poon and Hong Junyang not in Most Popular Newcomer list
- Marcus Chin and Bukoh Mary still in Top 40 list... sigh

The most shocking fact of all... JEFF WANG EXCLUDED FROM TOP 40 LIST?!?! WHAT THE @#%*?!?! I THOT HE WAS MUCH MORE POPULAR AND MARKETABLE THAN MARCUS CHIN?!?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH MEDIACORP?!?! :-O
