Another tragic loss

Why oh why do tragedies have to happen when we least expect it??? Just as we are coming to terms wif U-Nee's sudden passing last week, another Asian celeb had left us... Taiwanese actress Hsu Wei Lun.

Taken from Wikipedia: Xu Wei Lun was involved in a fatal accident on the Taichung stretch of Taiwan's National Highway No. 1 at 2315 hrs last Friday (26th Jan 2007) while travelling with her assistant to Nantou for the filming of Tai Yang De Nu Er. Her car hit the barrier on the highway and was then rear-ended by a truck. The passenger side air bag failed to deploy (airbags are not designed to deploy in rear impact collision) and she wasn't wearing her seat belt. Contrary to witness' testimony, her assistant denied being the driver at the time of the accident. Despite 43 hours of emergency treatment, she passed away on January 28, 2007 at 1937 hrs local time.

Very hard to believe that a sweet, friendly, beautiful and kind-hearted girl is suddenly gone, when she has so much more to offer. This goes to show how unpredictable life can be. Due to the fact that Im not exactly a fan of hers, I haf only this to say: may the Good Lord bless her soul and continue to watch over her family :,-(

The last time I saw her was last month at St James Power Station... I never really got the chance to talk to her. I realised that I do miss her more than I miss the other celebs... had it not been for her, I would never haf known the other celeb fans in the Mediacorp Forums. And hence i owe her a lot. I don't even know what she's doing these days, but i look forward to the day when I would get to see her again... till then, I shall not wallow too much in my own despair, but instead take each day as it comes and remain as patient as I had always been. Translation (pls highlight to read full story): Today was kinda terrible... sure I didnt mind working in the morning for once, but things got bad when Susan Yoke reported sick at the last minute!! Because of that, I couldnt go for break til later!! And the customer traffic became way too uncontrollable! And Edwin couldnt do anything about it!!! Luckily Jeff came to save the day by asking me to go for a quick break first, and asking me to stock transfer some Vanilla Crepe Souffles and Burger wrappers to Toa Patyoh outlet. No problem with that, but then I needed to bring back Crocquette pies, burger buns and SIX PACK OF FRIES!!! Worst of all, I didnt haf any money to take a cab back to Shaw House!! So I carried the sack of fries in one hand and carrying the bags full of crocquette pies and burger buns in the other... all the way from Toa Payoh MRT station to Orchard MRT station. Wah lau eh, damn f**king tiring and u know!! I did it all by myself without much help at all!! I got shoulder cramps and my fingers were swollen, and I nearly injured my back!! Come to think of it, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour had it a lot worse when He carried the cross all the way to Calvary, esp when His back was full of scars after all that lashing (not to forget that He got crucified soon after that painful ordeal). I know my pain is NOTHING compared to what Jesus had gone through, but STILL IT'S F**KING EXHAUSTING!!! Although Jeff was kind enough to dismiss me from work after this tiring task, i swear I dont ever want to carry such huge shit in the near future again!!! ARGGHHHHH!!!!

I haf been reading a friend's blog recently... these words somewhat rang true (this Mr X was referring to a certain fish faced Mr W, whom I seem to know):
Don't get carried away with those whom u idolise. The more u focus too much on them, the more it will screw up your own real life. The best way is just to move on with your life, and forget wat happened in the past...
So wat if a famous person got kicked out of the competition, and suddenly u broke down by thinking the whole world doesn't support him/her? Come on, get real with it! U juz can't undo anything to make a person come back with the competition....
So long one is happy with him/herself, u don't need to be sad or disappointed! Sadly, there're ppl who love to throw their frustrations even after one is being kicked out from the contest....
So what if u support them fully? And wat will u get in return? Sometimes, in life like this, u shd know where u stand, and must think in a realistic way. This is a real world, not an ideal world....
One final note i wd like to touch: get a life. Just get a life. Dun focus your life wholly on someone whom you idolise. It will eventually screw up your life... Focus on something useful, and get a life...

Thinking back on last year, I was glad I never let my support towards the Singapore Idols and the Mediacorp celebs go way overboard. At what cost? The cost of my own sanity? I nearly let my support for Rui En take over my mindset some 2 years ago. And even as I get back to my senses, i come across a totally immature guy (Mr Yeow) who keeps bugging me wif SMSes on how crazy he is over Fiona and Rui En... and how disappointed he was when Fiona refused to acknowledge him, and how he would often drink to his heart's despair. From what I heard, even his close friends and family don't want to haf anything to do wif him. Can't believe that Mr Yeow is continue to live in his own idealistic world even as I speak. Looks like I shant help him wif his 'quest' to meet Jade Seah in person after all. Truth be told, I still dont trust him completely, given the few times he tried to manipulate me into helping him get a gift for his fave artistes. This Mr Yeow is such a naive twit.
Makes me wonder why I even want to make friends wif such obsessive people in first place. No matter how hard I try to get them back on the right track, they never seem to help themselves. I mean, look at me...

I would haf chosen not to follow Singapore Idol any further after Gayle got kicked out. But NO... I chose to move on and appreciate the other Idols there, and eventually my 'heartache' wore off. Ditto when Meryl pulled out from the competition to concentrate on her studies.

I would haf stopped watching SI for good when Hady, Jonathan and Mathilda were at the Bottom 3 in one of the episodes. But NO... I still continued to attend the recordings in spite of the unfair judgment (I would still do so even if Jasmine were to be eliminated earlier).

I would haf continued whining over Jasmine's elimination on the Final Spectaculars Results show and taken out your frustrations onto others. But NO... I was still very happy for Jasmine making it this far, and I continued to be in good terms wif the other Jasmine fans.

And most recently, I would haf whined non-stop for missing out on the chance to see Felicia once again at Hougang Mall after having planned my own schedule without much thought. But I didn't wallow in my own guilt, I just carried on wif my own affairs and looked forward to each challenge wif a postitve mind.

Mr W, if ur reading this, I haf this to say to u, SERIOUSLY... PLEASE DO NOT MOPE OVER JASMINE'S ELIMINATION, AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!! IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE VENTING YOUR FRUSTRATIONS ONTO OTHERS AND LET YOUR OBSESSION CONTROL YOUR WHOLE LIFE, THEN I'M SORRY TO SAY THAT YOU ARE ALREADY DESTROYING YOUR OWN SOUL. DID YOU NOT PROMISE ME EARLIER THAT YOU WILL FORGET ALL THE BAD STUFF THAT HAPPENED IN THE YEAR 2006 AND MOVE ON???
On the flipside of things, I really cannot imagine what would haf happened if Fiona or Rui En didnt win the Most Popular Female Artsistes Awards last year... Mr Yeow would be cursing and crying like a baby. As for me, I would be strong and be happy for them still. And I DON'T SEE THE NEED TO BUY THEM PRESENTS AT EVERY EVENT... except maybe on their birthdays (not compulsory anyway).
So to me, it's not just how u control your own emotions over the artistes... it's also how u deal wif certain situations (such as the elimination of your fave contestant). And that's exactly what im going to do when I see the artistes at Centrepoint on 4th Feb and Bishan J8 on 11th Feb :-)
Speaking abt the SI contestants, I realised that I do miss them plenty... but at least there's still the wonderful memories to cherish right?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EDDIE CHEUNG, FIONA XIE AND ADRIA

I was in for a shock when I read the Chinese newspaper prior to starting work yesterday... U-NEE HANGED HERSELF. It's really ironic that the leggy Korean babe's pictures were ciculated around the Net, mistaken for a blown-up Mongolian model Altantuya Shaarribuu. And yet barely 3 mths after, this very same U-Nee would eventually end her life. The moment i read the words "Sheng mang" (death) and "diao jian" (hangman cord), I suspected that she could haf committed suicide due to depression. She certainly wasnt the only celeb to have ended her own life... there were others like Marilyn Monroe, George Reeves and Leslie Cheung, just to name a few. Sometimes it makes one wonder why people want to end their own lives just like that... could it be due to sheer pressure wif work? Not being loved enough? Troubled childhood? Depression is not an easy thing to get over. It troubles my heart to know that there are still people out there who are constantly battling depression without realising it in them. I haf a classmate who is very introverted and is totally unaware that she may be suffering from depression (esp since she mumbles to herself most of the time).
And that is partly why I had re-scheduled to work lesser, for fear that all the stress from work might get the better of me and cause my studies to suffer at such expense.
Rest in peace, U-Nee... u were gone way too soon, at a very young age. You will be greatly missed.

Finally got time to upload pictures taken at Giant Supermart (Vivo City)... Joanne, Yaodong and Liping were the guest celebs there (all of them star in the upcoming drama "Happily Ever After")... Patricia and Bryan were the hosts. It started at around 10 am and lasted til evening. I stayed til around 1330 hrs, then rushed to work... at least I managed to take pic wif Jopeh, Yaodong and Pat! :-)

Lately, I had been hooked to this new game I had bought just last week... and yes, it's worth playing!! Mission failed, but still positive

Arghhhhh... I should haf known better than to choose the HARD WAY...!!! If only I could turn back time... then I would haf taken the bus to Mediacorp instead of taking a long train ride to Hougang Mall... but noooo, stupid me was way too inflexible, insisting to go to Hougang Mall to check out the artistes there... all I saw were the cast for "The Peak": Qi Yuwu, Jeanette Aw, Eelyn Kok, Ann Kok, Huang Wenyong and Lin Meijiao. The cast of "Let it Shine", Felicia included, had left HALF AN HOUR EARLIER. Which means they would haf reached Radiogate already... what a bad choice I made.
I could do nothing but wallow in my own guilt, even while I was snapping pictures of the artistes on stage. Fortunately, there was still a glimmer of hope, for Steph gave me a call and allowed me the chance to talk to Felicia herself!! And so I got to chat wif her for a short while (of course Fel remembers me), apologising profusely for not being able to see her, but she said it's ok, and told me not to feel too bad abt my blunder, and that there will always be a next time. That conversation made me feel better. I owe Steph a lot... how I wanna give her a big hug the same way I hugged the Singapore Idols.
The heartache from my failure is still lingering deep within me, but I know too well that heartache is something I can never live without. For Felicia's sake as well as for myself and the other Mediacorp fans, I will be strong and carry on... this wasn't the first time I missed out on an event btw. The other time on 24th Nov, I couldnt get to see Fel in the studio, and another time on 1st Dec, I couldnt get to see Rui En at Vivo City... just to name a few occasions. But like I said earlier, I would get to see them again... after all, it took me nearly 2 years to finally see Felicia upclose AND take picture wif her on the very first time I saw her in person (at Suntec City nonetheless)... but to see Rui En again would be harder, given the fact that she hardly has events.

So far the week in school had been rather slack... not much covered in the two topics, Media Integration and Illustrative Storyboarding. Somehow I feel that my creativity is wearing off a little after all those weeks of vacation... and it's mostly due to work. Esp today... due to the fact that it was raining heavily, I stayed behind in the PC lab for another 2 hours to continue my research on SPD Rangers, Star Wars and other stuff.
In just a few days, I am going to see my fave actress at Hougang Mall straight after work... but as the clock ticks away, I realised that I actually miss someone else more than I miss the mermaid... nope, it's not Race Horse No. 20 (what's she been busy wif btw?), but rather a fellow supporter whom I haf been attracted to for some time, waaaay before the Singaproe Idol frenzy actually started (even tho she may not be as attractive as the aforementioned actresses). I hadnt seen most of the Mediacorp celeb fans for the past few weeks either... so I guess this Saturday will be the Day of Reunion.
Speaking abt SI contestants, Jasmine appeared in the newest Jean Yip advertisement... even as I looked at the pic in awe (u should see how slim she is now!!), I realised that I hadn't been in touch wif any of the gang for some time... never mind if I took time to read their blogs occasionally. The Singapore Idol fever may haf totally diminished, but the fire deep down inside is still burning, and the wonderful memories will forever stay. Now all i gotta do is await new challenges... for I know it won't be the last I would hear of the Idols yet (esp Jonathan and Hady).

New term, new challenges

My mind is being drained out by tons of work... I really dunno what to do. I've been working like mad for the past few weeks til I cant even think abt anything liao...
New term of school started, and the first day ended real early today... it's just briefing for the upcoming topics. So glad to see most of my classmates again (I wont be surprised if the ones in the 'danger' list are no longer schooling)... and Miss April still looks sweet and pretty as always. But I was in no mood for jokes... cos I still haf to work like crazy. If only Edwin were more understanding and allow me to work less... :-(
There's this roadshow at Hougang Mall at 3 pm this Sat Z(Im missing someone a lot), but I haf to work in the morning... Im keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that I can make it in time for the event on that day. If only I had the ability to teleport or swing across the neighborhood via webbing or even fly... I'm all too human unfortunately. And I constantly remind myself to forget all bad stuff that happened in the year 2006 and look forward to what lies ahead this new year...

I got off-day yesterday... and what I do? I go to Suntec City once again after long time of absence there... looking around various collectible shops. And at 1545 hrs, I went on to watch Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. A lot of sick humor inside... must applaud Sacha Baron Cohen for being such genius by fooling particularly everyone in the film (feminists, gay pride parade participants, politicians, and African American youths) into thinking that he is really from Kazakhstan filming a real documentary. And if u thot that some fans here 'stalking' celebs is bad enough, wait til u see Borat attempt to make Pamela Anderson marry him Kazakh style!! And his singing of the fictional Kazakhstan anthem to the tune of "The Star Spangled Banner" will make all squirm in digust!! Sacha Baron Cohen is more shocking than any comedian I haf ever come across... even more so than the local ones (sorry Phua Chu Kang)!! This moviefilm will make anyone laugh non-stop... u must go watch!! Provided u are above 21 years of age that is :-)

I just read the results for the New Year's edition of RAW... Kevin Federline beat John Cena??? Somehow I knew this would be happening... I somehow suspected that smelly, ugly, totally-cannot-make-it Samoan Bulldozer Umaga and his crazed protege Armandoooo Alejandroooo Estradaaaa interfered!! Later it was Cena in a 4-on-1 handicap match... against Umaga, Estrada, Johnny Nitro and the Coach. It seems that the chances of Cena retaining his WWE Championship at New Year's Revolution are rather slim (but as always, miracles might still happen, such as Cena ending Umaga's undefeated streak once and for all). There's only one thing to say about all this... as Ron Simmons aka Faarooq would say...
DAMN!!!

Venturing into the new year...

I may haf been denied access into the Sky Park levels of Vivo City on Sunday night (all doors to the 3rd level were closed by 10 pm)... but I still got to watch the event from the upper carpark levels of Harborfront Centre, which is just located behind the place. I didnt want to watch the event at home, so i decided to watch it at Harborfront itself, never mind if I couldn't get a clear view. So u can say that I saw all the Idols (and various other celebs) once again, from a certain point of view... but I didnt stay up til late at night... for I decided to board the late train back to Kovan (and boy was i surprised to see old friend Liao Zhiwei and his girlfriend in the carriage). I reached home at abt 0145 hrs... and resumed work on New Year's Day as usual.
Im feeling a little sad now cos today is the last day of work for two lovely colleagues of mine... Emma and Bonnie. Altho I'm saddened by their decision (they are both going back to school by Wed), it's been a pleasure working with these two cuties, and I really hope that they can keep in touch wif all of us at Mos Burger... I dedicate this song to them, as well as to all the amazing friends I haf made in the past year... be it Idols, Mediacorp celebs, classmates or fans. :-)
