This will be the concluding segment of the Spider-Man databanks... I wont be talking about Carnage or his son Toxin due to time constraint and 'fatigue' from typing all those previous databanks in the past few weeks. For the month of June, I am going to start up a new databank for the characters in the upcoming movie "Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer".
Most of us Marvel fans know that Venom was the first known symbiote in the Marvel timeline.(having landed on Earth and bonded with Peter Parker, whose alter ego we all know)... after which he bore Carnage, another well-known villain who was much more powerful and more complicated than his predecessor. But what many fans don't know is that he also 'fathered' five more offspring, according to the 'Separation Anxiety' storyline.
The hosts for Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher and Agony were volunteers for the Life Foundation Organization, an organization that was preparing for the M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) fallout of the Cold War and provide a comfortable life for their wealthy clients after the impending nuclear holocaust. The Life Foundation was experimenting with the Venom symbiote in the hopes of creating so-called 'super-cops' to watch over their imagined fallout shelter utopia. Donna was picked from the organization's security force, made up of police, soldiers, and mercenaries.
The five symbiotes possess all the powers the original Venom has, including suit generated webbing, shape-shifting, superstrength and the ability to cancel Spider-Man's "spider-sense".
SCREAM (Donna Diego)
Scream was the unofficial leader of the 'Leading Foundation' symbiotes. Scream's superhuman abilities are due to her alien symbiote. The creature can mimic clothing and camouflage Donna. She often uses her 'hair' as a weapon, to wrap or tangle enemies, much like Medusa of the Inhumans. Like Spider-Man and Venom, Scream has wall-crawling and web-slinging abilities, and also boasts an early-warning sense. Scream also possesses some degree of superhuman strength, the exact limits of which aren't known. Scream went insane and turned against her other siblings, killing them one by one. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
PHAGE (Carlos Mach)
Phage's primary method of attack is to form his symbiotic suit into long serrated blades and slash or stab his opponents.
RIOT (Trevor Cole)
Riot is extremely aggressive and evil, his personality much worse than that of his other siblings (with the exception of Carnage). He can expel a potent acid from his suit. Unlike his fellow symbiotes, Riot doesn't like to use his tendrils to form blades or spikes, but prefers to create bludgeoning weapons like hammers and maces.
LASHER (Ramon Hernandez)
Lasher has the capability of creating thick green mucus from his suit that crushes its victim under its weight as well as using the tentacles from the suit to "lash" or grab its victim.
AGONY (Leslie Gesneria)
Agony can use her metabolism to spit acid, and can absorb chemicals (such as Spider-Man's webbing). Before her death at the hands of Scream, Leslie showed remorse and regret for her actions.
Later the four fallen symbiotes merged together to form one single symbiote... a new anti-hero named HYBRID.
HYBRID (Scott Washington)
Hybrid is the first off-the-bat "good" symbiote. Though Toxin is better known, he came later, and Venom is a one-time anti-hero who often appears as a supervillain.
Personality and character-wise, he is very similar to Toxin, his successor (and Carnage's spawn). Both are New York cops, both are determined to use the power they derive from the symbiote for good, both display hero worship of other superheroes.
Like Spider-Man and Venom, Hybrid has wall-crawling and web-slinging abilities, he can form his symbiote into pseudopodia or tendrils creating snares and bladed weapons. The symbiote also has camouflage abilities and can blend in with its surroundings. It can also mimic clothing. Hybrid has a border-line warning sense and can "see" through his symbiote. He also possesses some degree of superhuman strength. He can also detach a piece of his symbiote to send messages to his friends and allies, and he can shape his symbiote to form a membrane that allows him to glide through the air.
CAUTION... this blog may contain some offensive material in some of the posts (but Im not one to judge others whatsoever). Since 2010 this blog is now an archive for upcoming movies or video games. For more current affairs, do check out my Facebook page, thanks.

WOW Street Festival at PS
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHEN TIANWEN, COLIN AND EMILIER
After school ended at around 1730 hrs (boy was it tiring!), I headed for dinner at Bedok before taking a bus from the bus interchange to Plaza Singapura. A WOW Street Festival competition was about to be held at the outdoor atrium, and I went there specially to root for my classmate Kimberly. I reached the place at 1850 hrs, then decided to read some books at Times first.
The first contestant was a middle-aged Filipino lady named Ruby, and she sang "Don't Cry Out Loud"... her voice was simply POWERFUL!!! Kimberly was the second contestant for the qualifying rounds, and I can see that her voice has definitely improved from last year (so has her confidence). Mohd Faliq then came out and sang an earnest rendition of R Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly". Fourth contestant was Glen Tiew who sang a not-so-good rendition of Elton John's "Circle Of Life". 5th contestant was a young girl named Phoebe (who sang some cheena song). Then came a rather effeminate guy named Sharezan who sang Michael Buble's "Sway". Cute Filipino named Elliot Miranda sang a song from Les Miserables. Followed by 2 young kids named Shelley and Makin... a gal named Violet killed off FIR's "Fly Away", then a certain Siau Yeun sang an ok-sounding song. Poly grad Daniel then got on stage to sing Wet Wet Wet's "Love Is All Around", which actually sounded betetr than Glen's item. Followed by another Filipino singer... and I never thought that ex-colleague Deborah was the last contestant for that talent competition!! Indeed I saw Bonnie and Savina among the crowd, and they noticed me only after they got off their seats!! And that happened when I already noticed them first for abt 15 minutes!! :-D
Before the results were announced, the hosts Genie (multi-talented cutie!!) and a former SSF winner Erick Guansing performed solo items, most notably a modern rendition of "Stand by Me" and "Fly Me To The Moon". Instead of 8 names, the judges made a last-minute decision to pick the best 10 out of the 14 contestants to proceed to the semi-finals... which is to be held at Orchard Cineleisure on Friday

Confessions of the disgruntled sort
I just got back from a WOW Street Festival event at PS earlier today, but Im only gonna upload the pics tomorrow. For now, I got a few confessions to make here...
- I realised my life has gotten a hell lot easier with Roy as the current shift manager (and it's not just bcos my school timetable for this term is much more packed than the previous ones)... he's much more understanding than the one before him, for he would always ask first before planning the schedule in advance.
- As much I can't stand guys with super long thick hair (save for rocker icons like Jonathan Leong and Paul Twohill), I seriously want those guys to cut their hair by Vesak Day!
- I know I shouldn't be saying this, but can I say that I seriously HATE it when those guys ALWAYS come to school very very late!! And Mr H, you don't tell me what to do, cos I haf moved on to other things and don't intend to post in the Dance Floor section anymore (until I say so)... IT IS MY CHOICE AFTER ALL, SO MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!
- And in response to my colleague's request to lend her my digicam to her to use in Jakarta, I say this... I will NEVER lend my digicam to anyone, not even to those who are going overseas. I nearly lost my old camera last year (it was actually the pouch that went missing, thank goodness for that), and therefore I cannot afford to lose my current one. The camera is MY LIFE, so basically I cannot live without it. So I would kindly appreciate it if u ask someone else or buy your own cam please... thank you very much.
Arghhh that does it... I hope I don't sound like an emo-angst ridden rocker wannabe... need to soothe my mind with green tea and head to bed early...

Super nosebleed!! VENOM POWER TO THE MAX!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KYLIE MINOGUE, MARK FEEHILY (WESTLIFE) AND TRIS!!
I bought the new i-weekly issue, and what can I say... VENOM LAU NUAAAAAA!!! MY NOSE IS GONNA FALL OFF!!! KNEES ABOUT TO BREAK!!!! ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!
Ok ok, enough of the super-high nonsense. The seven princesses are on the cover, and that's what caused me to slowly mutate into that symbiotic monster all of a sudden. I dont know lah, they all look so beautiful leh... I must say that the ones who would make me truly weak have gotta be Miss RE, Miss Chin and Miss Yeoh. Of all the 7 beauties, I have yet to take pic wif Miss Aw (but I prob wouldn't want to look forward to that chance at all). And in case I forget...
ANNOUNCEMENTS!!
- This coming Saturday, Miss RE, Miss Chin and Miss Xie will be at Bugis Junction for i-weekly 500th edition autograph session!! Thanks so much for the info, Steph!! (big hug)
- Also this coming Sunday, there will be an even bigger event in store... Mr Bear, Miss Liu (another princess), Eelyn, Cynthia, Ann and many other artistes from the upcoming drama "Kinship" (Shou Zu) will be making an appearance at the very same place at 3 pm!! YEAH BABY!! :-D
P.S. as excitable as I may sound, I am NOWHERE as 'high' or desperate as a certain Mr SK, who would obviously go super-high if Miss JP were to be involved in the autograph session as well (by default one lah).
For now, do feast your eyes on the pics... make sure your noses don't fall off from all that 'excessive bleeding'! And yes, I will be 'bringing along the symbiote with me' to Bugis this coming Saturday!! :-D
Group picture of the seven babes... and a very familiar supervillain drooling like never before

Info on the celebs present at Star Search roadshow
Star Search can either make stars or break stars (as in the case of most Top 3 stars, but I aint going into that, not even on the poor soul who tried to smuggle coccaine)... but these few celebs who were present at Bishan J8 on Saturday still got what it takes to be a celebrity. Just look at Ivy and Yvonne, who have won Best Actress/Supporting Actress awards... not to forget Felicia Chin, who's undoubtedly the hottest rising young actress today (with many magazine accolades under her name).
IVY LEE JING MEI
The then-19 year old was signed on by Mediacorp (known as SBC back in the early 90s) after winning the bi-annual Star Search in 1993. Ivy has acted in many shows and is loved by her fans, though her popularity dropped a little, thus she has not received a popularity award for 4 consecutive years, up till now. Her personality leads her into mostly motherly roles but her flexibility allowed her to succeed in portraying other characters as well. Ivy was the second Mediacorp actress to win 3 Best Actress awards in 2000, 2004 and 2006. That was a feat only matched by fellow actress Huang Biren. She is happily married to a rich Hongkong businessman since 1997, with whom she has a daughter and twin sons.
IX SHEN JING SHAN
Ix Shen was the male winner of Star Search 1995 and was immediately signed on by the then TCS (but it was Christopher Lee who became more successful than Ix). Ix’s laid back charms and rugged good looks soon got him many drama roles, of which his leading role in drama As You Like It as a carefree and sporty beach bum got audiences’ attention. Another lead role as a crime-fighting officer in Frontline added credibility to his acting career. From his tanned, lean and fit body, it is easy to tell that Ix loved outdoor activities. He excels in most sports from the beach volleyball to dare-devil parachute diving.
Prior to joining the entertainment industry, he was a professional photographer. Ix is still very much into photography, often capturing the images around him into beautiful memories.

CAROLE LIN SHAO PEI
Carole was a flight stewardess prior to her quest for stardom. This tall and lanky Star Search '95 finalist exudes poise and confidence, which distinguishes her among her peers. Beneath the frail and vulnerable façade, the then 21-yr old Carole's fiesty acting skills shone through during the contest and had impressed the panel of judges and the audience. Her portrayal of a maid in the semi-finals stole the limelight, making her a hot favourite for the finals (though she didnt win a place in the Top 3). Carole then made her small screen debut in Tofu Street, a nostalgic drama set in the 1940s, as a strong-willed young woman who leads a harsh life and finally sacrificing herself for her loved ones.
Carole's acting skill was confirmed when she swept the Best Actress Award in Star Awards '97 with her realistic portrayal in Price Of Peace. Since her award-winning night, Carole has been offered more challenging roles ranging from a modern career woman in Roses, Complete With Thorns to a strict counsellor in In A Piece Of Sky.

Off camera, this bilingual actress who has a heart of compassion is often involved in fund-raising charity events and community service.
BRANDON WONG JIONG YAO
Brandon was first initiated into his entertainment career when he joined Star Search in 1995 at the age of 23. After beating thousands of candidates to get into the finals, his talents did not go unnoticed and he was soon courted by MediaCorp with a contract.
While he is often cast as a baddie, Brandon has a comedic flair too. His superb acting skills often surfaced, such as his convincing portrayal of a struggling comedian (the late great Wang Sa) in the drama Wok Of Life which was set in the 70s. The role made the audience sit up and take note of him and even earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Star Awards.
The versatile Brandon not only acts but is also brainy, having graduated from the Technological University of Malaysia. He goes through a great deal of preparation for his roles and is so committed, he even lost a lot of weight once, so as to fit the character he was playing.

JOEY SWEE (XU QI)
Joey entered the entertainment circle after joining Star Search 1997 as a semi-finalist. Her angelic face and bubbly personality caught the audience's attention and she was immediately signed on. Joey has done a variety of roles that sees her stretching her comedic talent in The Right Frequency to that of a caring counsellor in You Light Up My Life.
This effervensce girl with endless energy also hosted City Network, an infotainment programme targetted at working adults. She also crossed over to guest-host on the whacky but hugely popular variety programme, City Beat.
Joey's efforts did not go unnoticed by audience when she started getting favuorable comments from audience for her roles in The Reunion and The Vagrant. VIVIAN LAI YILING
Put a crown of long luscious hair, ravishing looks and eloquence together, and you get the double-champion of All-Asian Star Search '99, Vivian Lai. Bearing an positive outlook on life, the charismatic Vivian was a student prior to joining MediaCorp Studios at the age of 22 With her tender, captivating presence on screen, Vivian is blossoming beyond the testerone-laden core audience.
Her debut in Knotty Liaisons won a lasting impression in everyone's minds, and this was followed instantly by a sitcom Adam's Company which, too, garnered excellent reviews. Having proven her versatility, Vivian managed to build a reputation for herself and has bypassed the traditional struggle most wannabe actors encounter with her strong confidence from day one. An intellectual with country-girl charm, Vivian is set to become a hot entity and make everyone sit up in awe, all in her own steam. She is happily married to a banker for 3 years and has a young daughter.
FELICIA CHIN FOONG LING
Felicia Chin beat her Malaysian and China counterparts in Star Search 2003, becoming the first PURE Singaporean champion ever since the contest went regional in 1997. Both talented and exuberant, Felicia nabbed the subsidiary award for Miss Vibrant as well as Best Acting Potential.
At a tender age of 19, one cannot help but notice her ability to handle camera, lights and action with a reassuring confidence and utmost perserverance. Playing the role of Mo Wan Wan (an obese and loud-mouthed nasi lemak seller originally played by veteran actress Chen Liping) in the Star Search finals, Felicia portrayed the character with such aplomb that one may think that she hails from a drama background. Some may call this an inborne talent, while others may want to accord it to her experience as a zoo presenter, or perhaps her title as prom queen back in high school. Felicia was then cast in the blockbuster new drama series, Always on My Mind, opposite Fann Wong and Tay Ping Hui. With her radiant and efferverscent disposition, Felicia exudes an angelic charm that has won the hearts of many.
Felicia started out with mainly supporting roles until 2007 when she finally received her first leading role in the idol drama Let It Shine. Felicia is also the brand ambassador for Vitagen, a health beverage. She is said to have been chosen ahead of other actresses due to her healthy image and her immense popularity among all age groups. She also starred in many commercials such as Wisma Atria, Silky Girl and Whisper Ads.
