Gong Li has become a Singaporean citizen??? :-O
Firstly, I met up with Naomi at Harborfront MRT station at half past 6, then we went up to the Golden Village cinema at VivoCity...to watch "The Carrot Cake Conversations". The movie started a bit late due to commercials and movie trailers. I wasn't having very high expectations on the film, given the fact that it had gotten less-than-average reviews from 8 days, TODAY newspaper, Yahoo Movies, etc. It didn't help either that the cinema was barely half-full. Ok, I admit it was kinda dull and not-so-happening, but it does prove a point that sometimes we need to take a break from our daily activities, sit down to do some self-reflections and take the initiative to change our own perspectives towards life. Decent effort from the director though. There were a few funny moments, mostly from Alaric Tay who plays an oil trader whose 2nd wife cheated on him. The rather cliche ending bascially left me and a few others going, "Huh?". I rate the film 6 out of 10 stars... acting is good, but plot a bit too jarring, and the pace seemed a bit slow (thank goodness I didn't fall asleep). Given the fact that all 4 main leads were seen smoking, I thought it would be good if the movie were titled "The Smoking Squad Conversations"... WHOOPS!! :-X
As the end credits started rolling at abt 8.50 pm, the lights turned on and the director Michael Wang went to the front portion of the cinema, followed by the gorgeous Andrea Fonseka and the funnyman Alaric Tay (better known as Andre Chichak from "The Noose"). The questions asked were rather short and simple. One of the theater actors who was present asked a lot of questions that kinda left my mind too numb to ask any new questions. Andrea sounded cute speaking in Singlish! :-)
The session was done by 9.15 pm, and once outside the cinema Naomi and myself took picture with the beautiful Andrea, and got her autograph as well. As soon as we left the cinema, we went our separate ways... myself feeling so delighted that I kinda lost some sleep. :-p
