X-Men Origins: Wolverine is an upcoming superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Wolverine that will be released in most countries by May 1, 2009. The film is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Hugh Jackman as the title character. It is a prequel to the X-Men film trilogy, focusing on the mutant Wolverine and his time with Team X, before Wolverine's skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. The film was mostly shot in Australia and New Zealand.
Logan aka Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman
The lead character and future X-Men member, his birth name was James Howlett. He possesses animalistic senses, a healing factor that retards his age and bone-claws that protrude from between his knuckles; the latter ability manifested when he was a preteen. Later in the film, he volunteers for the Weapon X program and adamantium is infused into his skeleton.
Victor Creed aka Sabertooth played by Liev Schreiber
Logan's half-brother and fellow soldier. Sabretooth hates him because he loved and needed his half-brother, but is too proud to admit he needs him back. He possesses a healing factor similar to Wolverine's and razor sharp fingernails, and he has a very dangerous animalistic personality.
William Stryker played by Danny Huston
The director of the Weapon X project, he "both loves and hates mutants because his son Jason was a mutant and drove his wife to suicide. So he understands what they're going through, but despises their destructive force."
Kayla Silver Fox played by Lynn Collins
Wolverine's love interest and later captive of Stryker. She possesses a tactile mind control ability on anyone she touches.
Remy LeBeau aka Gambit played by Taylor Kitsch
A Cajun thief who has the ability to charge any object he touches with potential energy, forcing it to explode. The size of the object determines the magnitude of the resulting explosion.
David North aka Agent Zero played by Daniel Henney
A member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills and jumping abilities.
Wade Wilson aka Deadpool played by Ryan Reynolds
A wisecracking mercenary from Team X who can heal like Wolverine, he is an expert swordsman, martial artist and can also teleport.
John Wraith aka Kestrel played by will.i.am (member of the Black Eyed Peas)
A mutant with the ability to teleport and slowed aging (but not immortal). He is also Blob's manager.
Frederick Dukes aka Blob played by Kevin Durand
A mutant with an indestructible layer of fat. At the start of the film, he is of average build, but as the years progress he has gained an astonishing amount of weight and become morbidly obese.
Chris Bradley aka Bolt played by Dominic Monaghan
This Team X member possesses the ability to manipulate electricity.
Scott Summers aka Cyclops played by Tim Pocock
The future leader of the X-Men is still in high school at the time of the film. He possesses the ability to shoot concussive beams from his eyes, but due to his inability to control this power, he must wear ruby quartz glasses to keep the beams in check.
Emma Frost played by Tahyna Tozzi
About the same age as Cyclops, she is the younger sister of Kayla. She has telepathic powers and is able to convert her skin into diamond.
Sean Cassidy aka Banshee
This Irish mutant possesses a "sonic scream", capable of harming enemies’ auditory systems and causing physical vibrations. He aso possesses a superhuman hearing range, and is a gifted undercover operative.
Weapon XI played by Scott Adkins
This little-known mutant has powers "pooled" from many other mutants killed and/or kidnapped in the film, including Wolverine's healing factor and Cyclops' optic blasts. He is the final antagonist of the film, having been genetically altered to be the ultimate mutant killer.
