Yesterday I went for the pre-recording for the Carlsberg Golden Ox Year Special. Having applied for half-day leave a few weeks prior, I knocked off from work at 1 pm, had quick lunch and then went to Ang Mo Kio to take bus to MediaCorp. I had a sandwish from Subway for super early dinner. The Jolliteers and Naturals were among the earliest to reach the parking lot between 4 to 5 pm. The queue increased a little within the next few minutes... response was not as good as I thought, but then that's only because the pre-recording took place on a weekday.
This is the admission ticket for the pre-recording. We were allowed to get in the upper gallery of the theater at abt 1830 hrs. Fanclubs present were Naturals, Jolliteers, Felicians, Yuwu Paradise, Fann Fanatics, Daren Tan fc and some unofficial supporters.
The stage setting as taken from the upper gallery of the theater. If I have to be honest about one thing, I was very close to turning into Venom cause there was a leggy babe sitting directly behind me at that time... who ask her to wear rather indecently? Then again, I saw a few more young girls looking equally hot with super short pants. Somebody gouge my eyes out man... :-X
At around 1930 hrs, the ticketing personnel came forth and told everyone to go down to the lower gallery. Hooray, no need to 'suffer' upstairs!! :-D This could be due to the fact that the turnout at the lower gallery was much lesser then expected. But since the front portion was filled up with people, we had to sit at the slightly higher seating region. Many of the older patrons left the place halfway during the pre-recording from 10 pm onwards, and so we took this opportunity to shift a bit closer.
New Yi Qing was the warmer!! Haha, funny guy... haven't seen him for some time liao. He had to draw out quite a lot of tickets before he and the rest of the production crew could come up with 7 worthy participants. Fortunately, most of the names selected were the non-fanclub members. Unfortunately, one of the names drawn out was a committee member of a fanclub (and she quickly gave it a miss, obviously being too shy to participate).
This was how the programme went...
- Christopher Lee singing "Xin Nian Hao", followed by the other artistes. This was the start of the show.
- Ping Hui, Chor Meng, Jeff Wang and Daren Tan singing some CNY song. It was really good to see Chor Meng participate, and he seems to be doing ok, even though he had to walk slowly during the segment.
- Pat Mok and Qi Yuwu played some "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game with 2 contestants. Pat's team won at record speed (thanks in due part to a few lucky dice tosses), and the way she formed the 'A' shape was kind hilarious, so was Yuwu's method of forming the letter 'B'. :-p
- Kelly Poon performance... she doesn't look attractive with her short and scruffy hairdo. Also, she looked very skinny!
- Yuwu, Joanne, Nat and Fel singing "He Xin Nian". Yuwu and Joanne sang the lines previously covered by Elvin and Jesseca respectively.
- Chris Lee, Priscelia and Fiona playing some game with 3 contestants involving them sliding a beer mug across a carrom table to a designated portion of the board to win some big money.
- An acting skit involving 8 artistes... Brandon Wong and Apple Hong as the grandparents, Jerry and Desmond as the grandsons, Jeff and Pat as the parents of the 2 boys, Nick and Joanne as the uncle and aunt of the boys. During the skit, a cow mascot would appear and try to 'attack' one of the female celebs. 4 of the Carlsberg ambassadors showed up to give their blessings, while the Friendship Ambassador Allan Wu (who was unable to attend) appeared in a pre-recorded segment.
- Ping Hui and Fel played another round of the "Beer Cans and Ladders" board game... this game took slightly longer than the first one, and it was Ping Hui's team that won.
- Fann Wong singing "Chun Tian Lai Le". Judging by the grey dress she wore, it seems like she probably "didn't have much money to buy a decent dress"... haha, kidding!! :-p
- Apple, Pat, Nick and Pris starting off the finale, then all the other artistes gathering to the centerstage and singing some CNY song (forgot name, though I have it in the Rat Year CD).
- I couldn't stop laughing when the huge-mouthed Bao Guang yelled out names like "Apple Ping Guoooo", "Jiong Yaoooo" (Brandon's Chinese name) and "Mi Xueee" (Mich Chong's Chiense name). Lol, I also saw that stinkbomb Lei Jun present at the place, at least he's wearing shoes this time round.
The recording finished at 2310 hrs, and the majority of us then headed to good ol' Radiogate to wait for the artistes to come out.
Daren was the first to come out at about 2320 hrs. Ping Hui came out at around this time, but I didn't really approach him, even though I sorta wanted to. But never mind...
Joanne came out abt 10 minutes later. I personally felt that her signature is the most unique one I have ever come across. She stayed a bit longer, and she was still there with the Jolliteers even when I took a cab back.
Fiona was by the side of the gate region... I managed to give her an advanced birthday gift as well as a custom-made photo with birthday frame. :-)
Pornsak was with Nat cos they happened to live quite near each other. Seeing that there were more people queuing up for Nat, I decided to take pic with Pornsak first (whom I had seen during the more recent Carlsberg roadshows of course).
Then I went forth to take picture with Nat. Heh, I noticed that Nat's position was quite similar to the one taken at the Christmas party in 2007. :-)
Last but not least, I went forth to take picture with beautiful Felicia (and yep, that's my hand on her shoulder, muahaha). :-)
After bading farewell to Fel and the others, I shared cab with Ryan, Da Xiong and Shu Yi to respective places. I reached home at about 0025 hrs, but not before taking pictures of 2 more xiaomaos located near my block. The brown-grey cat seemed more passive, so I stroked it with pure affection. I was aware that the white one at the grass patch is a rather cowardly one, so I left it alone. Lights out at 0050 hrs with some music... what a day!! :-p
