Iron Man film Informatics Part 29: The Ten Rings

The Ten Rings were a terrorist organization in the Middle-East. Stark Industries' second in command, Obadiah Stane sold them weapons illegally to help them achieve their goals, and later made a deal with them, they would kidnap Stark Industries' CEO Tony Stark, force him to create a Jericho missile and then kill him, allowing Obadiah to take over the control of Stark Industries.

After weeks in captivity, Stark created a suit of armor powered by the new invention of a miniaturized arc reactor, rather than the weapon he was tasked to build, and successfully escaped. Stark upgraded the suit into the Iron Man armor after his return to the United States, and attacked various camps of the Ten Rings, destroying their weapons from Stark Industries and their members.

Days later, the Ten Rings found in the desert the rests of the Mark I armor Stark used to escape and rebuilt it, informing Stane about it. Ten Rings commander Raza proposed a deal with Obadiah Stane, he would give him the armor free of charge only if Stane supplied him with an army of Iron Soldiers. Obadiah refused, instead paralyzing Raza and taking the suit. Stane's men then execute the remaining Ten Rings soldiers, and possibly Raza.

Six months after Stark revealed his secret identity to the world, one of the Ten Rings members gave Ivan Vanko a fake ID and a ticket to the Grand Prix De Monaco, so he can confront Tony there in his Whiplash prototype armor.

Months after the battle at the Stark Expo, the Ten Rings set up a trap for James Rhodes, a friend of Stark and pilot of the War Machine armor, in order to take his suit, but they failed. However, the soldiers of the Ten Rings informed their leader, the Mandarin, that they managed to scan the armor during the battle and get enough information that would help them get their revenge on Tony. The Ten Rings, financed by Aldrich Killian's A.I.M., strike various places around the globe - including Tony Stark's house in Malibu, to fulfill the Mandarin's plans to take over America.
