Happy Birthday to Eve Torres, Naomi and Brenda
Yesterday I went to watch another movie... "Mad About English", directed and written by well-known broadcast journalist Lian Pek (fromerly from CNA). It's something like a documentary, similar to films like "Super Size Me" and "Fahrenheit 9/11". Very refreshing, interesting and heart-warming.
Having won the bid to the Olympics, China began an extensive foray of preparation to usher the new found glory of welcoming international guest to their land. Having building massive architectural marvels like the National Aquatics Center ("Water Cube") and the National Stadium (aka Bird's nest), one major hurdle faced the majority of its population. Language. What is a host to do if they can't communicate with their own guest? Hence a major sweep of English madness was entrusted upon the people with hilarity ensured.
Highlights include
- elderly people like Li Yang and Jason Yang conversing in English,
- "Cabbie" Meng conversing with tourists,
- a policeman named Lui Wenli impressing tourists with his ability to converse in different languages other than English,
- a certain Dr David Tool marking down grammatical errors found on signboards or LED panels,
- an 11-yr old gal named Qi Qi in English Boot Camp,
- and a massive Speak English campaign organised by a certain Jason Yang.
I rate this film 8.5 out of 10 points... a certified must-watch for people of all races, not just the Chinese. :-)

An upcoming event that's not to be missed is the Republic of Singapore Air Force Open House, to be held on 30th and 31st August.. there's gonna be appearances made by 2 very beautiful actresses, on different days that is. I seriously can't wait to go for both days, haha!! I'll leave it to you to guess which ones... (hint: they recently played beach ball babes... one is a Hello Kitty addict, and the other owns two cats. Should be easy, right?)
