Transformers AOE film informatics Part 44A: The Dreads

The Dreads are a group of Decepticons who follow the Autobots back from the moon and transform into black Chevrolet Suburban emergency vehicles. They specialize in infiltration and assassination missions. They also seem to vaguely resemble the Predator. They’re such unpleasant monsters that even the other Decepticons tend to dislike them. They attacked Sam, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, and Dino/Mirage on the highway and later fought Ironhide and Sideswipe by throwing their explosive darts at the Autobots.

Crankcase
A rarity among Decepticons, Crankcase is known for his subtle and shadowy nature, though it would be a mistake not to see him as a threat. As the de facto leader of the elite Dreads, the Decepticon’s top infiltration and assassination team, his specialty is hacking, data theft, and destructive sabotage of vital systems. Crankcase was killed by Ironhide with the help of Sideswipe. He transforms into a black Chevrolet Suburban.

Crowbar
Crowbar is the Dreads' second-in-command who specializes in getting into secured areas and systems. It doesn't matter if we're talking computer systems, human safes, or enemy compounds he's got the tools and skills needed to get you in. His weapons of choice are "nanotech sentries". He and Crankcase fought Sideswipe and Ironhide holding both his guns at them. He is killed by a head shot from Ironhide. In the toyline, Crowbar is depicted as a black Carbon Motors E7 police car.

Hatchet
Decepticon master strategist Hatchet is most famous for formulating devastating counter-attacks against Autobot defenses. Yet as a member of the Dreads infiltration and assassination team, he also plays another role, taking on the dirtiest jobs available personally and exterminating his targets with a brutal and efficient finality. He is killed by Bumblebee and Mirage on the highway. In the toyline, Hatchet is depicted as a black Eurofighter Typhoon.
