Katherne "Kitty" Pryde aka Shadowcat has the ability to phase through solid objects. The youngest of the X-Men, she’ll play an important role in their fight for survival.
Powers and abilities
Phasing/Intangibility - Shadowcat possesses the ability to pass through solid matter and objects by passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. In this way she and the object can temporarily merge without interacting, and each is unharmed during the process. This is known as "phasing." While phasing she is, for all intents and purposes, intangible. Hence, when attacked, she can shift into a "phasing" state (even if she is not passing through an object) so as to allow oncoming projectiles or energy blasts to pass through her harmlessly. Kitty passes through objects at the same rate of speed at which she is moving. The use of her abilities also interferes with any electrical systems as she passes through by disrupting the flow of electrons from atom to atom, including the bio-electric systems of living bodies if she concentrates in the right way. This typically causes machines to malfunction or be destroyed as she phases through them, and can induce shock and unconsciousness in living beings.
Chronoskimming - Through her phasing powers, Kitty also has the ability to send someone's consciousness back or forward in time into his younger/older self, or into a close anscestor/descendant. This power does have one weakness: The longer someone's mind is out of his body, the more strain it causes her. Moreover, Kitty can't send someone back more than a month due to the damage the power does to his brain. The only one able to go back further is Wolverine due to his healing abilities.
Abilities
Besides her mutant powers, Kitty is a genius in the field of applied technology and computer science. She is highly talented in the design and use of computer hardware. She is a skilled pilot of piston and jet engine aircraft, and a competent pilot of certain advanced interstellar vehicles. She has been consistently shown to be an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, having since been endowed with a lifetime of training in the martial arts of Japanese ninja and samurai, such as aikido, karate, and ninjutsu.
