X-Men Days Of Future Past film informatics Part 13: Havok

Alex Summers, aka Havok, is a mutant who attends Professor Xavier's school, either the older brother or cousin of Scott Summers aka Cyclops. He possesses the power to absorb ambient cosmic energy, process it and emanate it from his body as red rings of energy.

Alex was placed in prison for killing the man who had abducted him and his sister, and was the only prisoner to actually prefer solitary confienement, before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr recruited him. Havok and the other mutants trained at the X-Mansion after Shaw attacked the Division X. Shaw absorbed Havok's energy and used it to kill Darwin. Team member Hank McCoy constructed a containment unit for him, allowing Alex to focus his energy blasts. After a successful test, he had a containment unit built into his X-Men uniform. Alex along with Beast and Banshee stayed with the X-Men when Magneto asked them to join the Brotherhood.

Ten years later, Havok was seen in a military camp along with 3 other mutants in Saigon, as part of the US battalion for the Vietnam War. When Mystique came to rescue them, Havok fired an energy blast at William Stryker. He asked Mystique about Magneto's whereabouts, but she replied that she is now on her own. Havok and the other mutants then boarded a plane that headed back to the US.

Powers
Havok is able to absorb cosmic radiation into the cells of his body and convert it into energy. He then fires red rings of energy capable of causing anything it hits to spontaneously combust. Normally when he uses his powers, the rings travel in all directions and burn down everything around him, but he was later given a containment panel to focus his energy blasts into a straight line. Ten years after the Cuban Missile Crisis, Havok has learnt to focus his energy blasts using only his fists, rather than his body.
