Visit to Selarang Park DRC

Start of the Sagittarius star

Initially I didnt want to elaborate too much abt the excursion to the 'eerie place' I mentioned earlier, but since the trip was a rather enriching and unforgettable one, I decided to share my thoughts here.
After a rather mediocre GDMD lesson (it's too damn hard!!!), the class of 14 (wif 5 absentees and 3 gone abroad) took a bus to Selarang Park DRC (a prison located near Changi Prison) at abt 1300 hrs... once there, we were all asked to surrender our belongings except our watches. The first few minutes were already a torture, cos the guys were instructed to squat everytime the sergeant stopped moving. I squatted for so long til my ankles were close to getting sore. The officers weren't too pleased wif Mr HK for having tinted hair... if Mr DH were to be present, the officers would certainly condemn him for his multiple peircings on his face!
Fortunately, we all could rest easy as we entered the auditorium to watch some presentation (quite a dull one) on the different types of conrolled drugs (plus the unbelievably high pricings for each drug), the various ways each drug can affect our health, and the penalty for drug trafficking. We also watched a short film on how drug trafficking can ruin our lives, as seen in the eyes of the main character Steven, whose future had been ruined due to the mistake he made... losing his freedom, his family and his girlfriend. And then comes the main horror... a video clip of an inmate getting caned. The photographs of the prisoner's butt bearing the scars of four and nine strokes... the horror is unimaginable... this is the consequence of every criminal in general. Talk abt caning, I had actually seen a scenario much worse than this... Jesus being flagetted all over in "The Passion of The Christ"... 39 times. And this was way before Jesus got the crown of thorns placed on His head and the nails pierced thru His hands and feet.
Between 1515 to 1615 hrs, we toured around the Echo block to see the place where the inmates had to bathe, sleep, eat and stay in... no mattress, no TV, no Internet, no branded clothes, no aircon, no flush, no fast food. Then we were led into a certain detention cell, another unpleasant place where offenders are thrown into for misconduct. Then we headed back to the auditorium for a debriefing, where I pursed my lips at the sight of 2 cute gals from a civilian group (but there is still someone else much cuter than them). Then we took the bus back to school and were dismissed at 1715 hrs. Wahaha, no need to go for Mr Syed's lesson! :-D

I learnt these few things during the excursion...

  1. If any of your friends ever offers you drugs, severe all ties wif him and stay far away from him as possible. True friends will never do such things.
  2. Everyone has a choice to do what is right for himself/herself. Think twice before you do something nasty.
  3. Never take your freedom for granted. Cherish every moment in your life, with your family and friends.
  4. Say NO to drugs. Don't ever let these stuff ruin your future... once you enter jail, your life will never ever be the same again. (seriously, I would rather use $350 to buy a new PSP and a new game than on a packet of heroin or 'ice'!)
  5. You are responsible for your own actions! Nobody can help you if you don't help yourself.

Back home, I couldnt stop blushing as I watched "Deal or No Deal" just now, cos Fiona was the guest celeb for the 2nd episode... in fact, she appeared on TV almost every weekday for this week (Hey Gorgeous on Monday, Maggi and me on Tues, The Princesses and The Dude last night) And come this Saturday, I am gonna see another princess once more, one who truly weakens me all over, more so than Fiona! :-p
