Lookback in the year 2007

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Ling Lee, Brian, Farhan Firdaus and Vanessa

How time passes quickly. The year 2007 is coming to an end, and what a helluva year it has been... making new friends, going thru new challenges, These are some of the most amazing (and not-so-pleasing) experiences I haf been thru...

10) The balance between school and work
The last school timetable was horrible... lessons finishing at 6 pm from Monday to Thursday. And it doesnt help that the school attendance is going from bad to worse (wif more than half the class getting less than 85% attendance). And we changed class advisor thrice!! I just need to hang on for a few more months before I get the F off for good. Nuff said abt school.
As for work, things has been going quite bad between May to October (and Im not just talking abt the countless days of ever-increasing crowds, which happens practically everyday since the workplace is at Orchard). Shortage of manpower means I need to work more often, even at the cost of my sanity. Thankfully, Roy came back as the new scheduler, and his tactics were many times better than those of Edwin (who never plans ahead!! I lost a lot of trust in him as a result). Even more surprising was the discovery that one of the MCS moderators joined the company!! :-O I initially wanted to resign, but decided to hang on for a little longer. Towards the end of the year, more youngsters came in and I opted to work lesser due to school assignments. So things at work are more balanced for now. Even my colleagues tend to treat me better than most of my classmates.

9) Movies
Unfortunately for me, I had not been watching much movies like in 2006. Im not much of a movie buff anyway. However I did watch long-awaited films like Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four ROTSS and Transformers. I also got watch others like Borat (NIIIIIICE!!!), Balls of Fury, Beowulf and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

8) Live The Dream
Between August to October, I got to know a few amazing people like Shauna Simon, Fendi, By Definition and of course, the beautiful (and very tall) Andrea Fonseka. I know I joined the LTD foray rather late, but never too late for anything. But seriously, the show had gotten so much negativity cos way 3 talented solo singers (Olynn, Robert and Shauna) had been robbed of their chances in the finals, no thanks to the tone-deaf and tasteless supporters of a certain VICTOR VON DOOM V2. The show may haf ended on a very good and deserving note wif Fendi and By Def winning, but seriously, NO SEASON 2 PLEASE!!!

7) The Dance Floor
Although I dont really support any group fervently, I had taken a liking to Melvin and Sharon as well as Platinum. I dont really follow groups like JDI or Fantastic Four or Styles From Beyond. I was completely cool wif Vas and Pris winning. Another reason why I follow the show is to see the hot Jade Seah. Couldnt quite comprehend Glenn or FD though. George Chan is so shuai, and Bill Calhoun very funny. I dont quite like Wong Lilin wif her very straightforward mindset. And i think Gladys Tay is chioh :-p

6) Keeping up with the Idol craze
Singapore Idol may have been over, but I am one of the few fans who is still very much into the craze (to a certain extent). In fact, I go for events involving Jonathan Leong. I also got to bump into Paul Twohill and Joakim Gomez at the most unexpected yet thrilling times. Oh, and I also got to see Taufik and Olinda quite often. The only gals I had seen at least once were Daphne (contestant for Dance Floor), Jasmine and Emilee. Hady Mirza is still the only SI 2006 finalist I hadn't taken pic wif, but that doesnt matter. What matters most is that he is the new Asian Idol!!

5) Live shows and TV dramas
This year, I went for quite a number of live shows in the good ol' Mediacorp theater... SPD Charity show, President's Star Charity show, Cancer Charity show and of course, Star Awards! As for dramas, there were shows like "Honor and Passion", "Metamorphosis"

4) Chasing Celebs
I got to attend quite a lot of roadshows and know more celebs, such as Elvin, Nat Ho, Dawn, Fiona, and even this year's MSU winner Jessica Tan. In fact, I realized that I had taken pic wif 6 former MSU contestants within a span of 2 years (no kidding!). And the biggest accomplishment of all was to be an extra for the last episode of "Honor and Passion", which feature both my top fave actresses (see no 3)!! Something like a dream come true, u may say... :-p

3) The princesses in my heart...
None other than Miss Phoenix and Miss Kindness!! The number of pictures taken wif them dont count... it's more on cherishing the memories with them. Miss RE is the reason why I lose sleep sometimes, and Miss FC is the reason for my 'constant weakening effect'. I also accomplished the feat of taking pic wif all 7 princesses... wif the hardest-to-get princess (Jeanette) as the last one.

2) New friends
What else can be more important than true friends... esp new ones like Karen, Estelle, Ishardi, Rachel Elizabeth, Karlyn, Pamela, Fiona, Kelly, Atiqah, Kenny Ter, Johann, Jerena... and the list just keeps counting. And not to forget mentioning the many other friends I had known for the past 2 to 3 yrs... Kaileng, Kailin, Ryan, Steph, Joanna, Syazali, Rachel Lin, Twyla, Avril, Grace, Meiling, Audrey, Rina, Joyce Stella, Adria, Joey, Peiling, Zixiang, Zahirah, Terence, Edmund, Kendrick, Gerald, Jeremy, Eric... the list is never-ending!! How not to forget the few army friends whom Im still in contact wif... Kenneth Soh, Fauzi, Faizal and Roiswandi.

1) The Lord God Himself
Without God, I wouldnt be able to accomplish all the above pointers. I thank You for all the good and bad times that have happened this year, and I thank You too for guiding me to be the person I ought to be and in resisting the worldly pleasures.

In loving memory of...
Shocking and saddening demises these may be, but let us not forget the celebs who haf left this world for a better place... people like U-Nee, Hsu Wei Lun, Chris Benoit and family, Ishi from Soul, the Fabulous Moolah, Luciano Pavarotti and Benazir Bhutto. Even one of my friends, Jasmine Seah, met wif a tragic end in the middle of the year, when she was only 15 yrs old. We will miss them greatly. :-(

Im off to work now, cant afford to be late... after which I will be zooming off to Vivo City for the Nation's countdown. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!! ;-)
