Beijing Olympics started liao... and Happy National Day

Happy Birthday to Hui Si and Taz Min
And also Happy 43rd Birthday to Singapore!!
Happy National Day, everyone!!

The opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics was truly magnificant and breathtaking. For the first time ever, the Olympics would be held in the heart of Asia's biggest country. And also the first time the Olympics would be held within Asia in 20 years... the last Asian country to host the Olympics was South Korea back in 1988. This could probably mark a new start to the tragedy that happened 3 months ago, in Sichuan province. I got a feeling that our sportsmen or sportswomen may be bringing back gold/silver/bronze this time around... esp since some of them were from China. Maybe I should watch "Mad About English" sometime soon... :-)

As for the National Day parade, I personally think that this year's celebration (held at Marina Bay for the second time) would be a better one than last year's. I mean, who on earth is Kaira Fong (last year's NDP singer)?? She's nowhere as established or well-known as this year's NDP singer Joi Chua, whose albums have sold reasonably well in Taiwan. The one who sang the English version for "Shine For Singapore" is none other than the first Asian Idol Hady Mirza. The most memorable National Day Parade for me had gotta be the one 3 years ago... where Taufik and Rui En sang "Reach Out For The Skies". I am really proud to be a Singaporean.

Do stay tuned to the National Day Parade at 5.45 pm.. don't forget to watch the debut episodes of "Calefare" and "First Class" as well, at 8.20 pm and 9 pm respectively ;-)
