My predictions for No Mercy 2008

Happy Birthday to William Chin and Serene

The main poster for No Mercy 2008 looks rather monotonous, much like the Unforgiven 2008 poster (the one with Batista yelling in anger). Even the font for the date of the PPV event looks rather terrible. What happened to the design team's sense of proper layout, color consistency and variety? I would appreciate it if more color were featured on the poster, not just black, white or grey. Never mind if Jeff Hardy is featured in it...

Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship- Chris Jericho (c) vs Shawn Michaels
Jericho had become a totally different person in recent months after his return late last year, and had lost the respect of many fans with his repeated assaults on Shawn Michaels and his wife. Just when everyone thought that Y2J had gotten his just desserts after the Unsanctioned Match, he shocked the world by replacing an injured CM Punk in the Championship Scramble and going on to win the World Title at Unforgiven. Even so, his shocking win only further intensified the hatred from the detractors. And can someone tell Y2J that he looks freakin gay in his new underwear attire? As for HBK, he has not held a World title since 2002, and my only request, should HBK win the title again, is that the title reign lasts for 3 to 4 mths at the most. (provided the WWE scriptwriters even allow HBK to become World Champ again in first place)

WWE Championship match- Triple H (c) vs Jeff Hardy
I don't know what you guys think, but Jeff Hardy seems a bit over-rated to me. He's not exactly a good wrestler and all he knows is fly around, put his body at risk and perform stunts. Then again, the Cerebral Assassin had also been labelled as 'over-rated', way back since 2003 (with a 9-mth reign as World Champ, and winning the title for 3 more times). But since Triple H is one of the top players of the WWE and has been a 12-time world champ, I feel it's about time that the Xtreme High-Flyer be given his due. So long as that Russian bear known as Vladimir Koslov doesn't poke his nose in their business...

ECW Championship match- Matt Hardy (c) vs Mark Henry
Matt Hardy had come a long way to win this title (never mind if its prestige value isn't equal to that of the World Title or WWE Title), and he will certainly retain the title, that's for sure!! And I'm not even gonna talk about the World's Sweatiest Man.

Match for No. 1 contender for World Title- Batista vs JBL
The Animal will win this one, I guarantee it!! JBL is still a boring piece of trash. Who can ever forget the time when the self proclaimed Wrestling God held the WWE Title for 10 months??

Women's Championship match- Beth Phoenix vs Candice Michelle
Former Playboy covergirl Candice Michelle makes a return after months of absence due to a clavicle injury caused by the Glamazon earlier this year. Although I'm not so enthusiastic towards woemn competition (save for bikini bashes, haha), I would like to see Miss Go-Daddy kick the Glamazon's @$$ bigtime.

The Undertaker vs The Big Show
The Big Show had gone rogue and allied himself with Vickie Guerrero at Unforgiven, by helping the Smackdown GM fend off The Undertaker, who was planning to "send her to hell". But even with Big Show being the Smackdown GM's latest protege, Vickie still fell victim to a Tombstone (her 2nd one btw) by the Phenom, and it seems like Big Show is the only one left. Big Show had been underused as of late ever since his return to the WWE early this year... his loss to Floyd Maywether at WrestleMania 24 could indeed be the biggest slap on the face of the World's Biggest Athlete, who is the only person to win the WWE Title, WCW Title and ECW Title. As for Undertaker, the "old dog" of the company, he is yearning for revenge onto Vickie for stripping him off the World Title and for temporarily banishing him from the WWE. Taker and Big Show have squared off before, and they even formed a brief alliance back in 1999, as the indestructible tag team known as "Armageddon". Question is... what will Taker do next after the PPV, now that he's destroyed Edge and Vickie? On a personal note, it's a shame that Taker no longer has the "Sara" tattoo on his neck since late last year, which could only mean one thing... he is divorced.

Kane vs Rey Mysterio
Given the fact that Kane had ripped off Rey's mask before (offscreen that is), it seems evident that Rey's dignity is going to be at stake. Kane had nearly suceeded in ripping Rey's mask off after a match, til Evan Bourne came to the rescue. Kane has gotten a much bigger advantage over the high-flyer in terms of strength and power. Despite being one of the smaller-sized male Superstars in the roster, Rey compensates with his agility, quick wits and daredevil stunts. Somehow I got a feeling that Rey may lose, considering that he was unmasked before in WCW... we all know what Rey looks like without the mask right? You can check out the videos on Youtube ;-)
